Brand new 2021/22 Prior WCRM 177cm. This board is incredibly thin! With this I'm retiring the '98 Coiler Pure Race. It's a brick compared to any modern board.

With the other boards:

Been riding the 165cm Coiler (VSR AM "extra tight" sidecut) all season, I'm pretty sure I'm over the weight range for this board at 190lbs. It's still fun and extremely maneuverable, but it struggles at higher speeds. Putting a backpack on was enough to completely throw my carving off. Very good for ripping through crowded cat tracks, though!

Still pretty new to alpine. Looking back, starting off with the GS board was a very bad idea...

I have a friend who weighs about what you do and he rocks his 165 Coiler, SL, which was built for a 150 # rider, in a wide variety of conditions.

I'm not sure what the actual sidecut is on my 165, but it's marked "XT" to distinguish it from the usual AM VSR radii. I'm also 6'3", my weight is rather distributed now... if I hadn't made an effort to get in shape before the season I would have been ~210lbs.

The 165 does make excellent, clean turns below a certain speed. It also does off-piste stuff respectably, and its tail flex makes me particularly comfortable with landing small jumps. But once I am getting it on edge at speed, I do not have nearly enough stability. I found myself longing for my GS board, especially for the first few runs of the day, despite how unforgiving that monster is. Hopefully this new Prior replaces that urge.

I also have an AMT with the XT sidecut.  If memory serves it's something like 9-11-10?  At any rate, yes if you get it going really fast you want a more stable board.  I have a Nirvana with 12-14 sidecut that I like for going fast.  Or at least, fast for me.  But these days I find myself liking the AMT more, at least for what I like to do.  It's more versatile and it cooks along plenty fast.

Part of the problem is that I'm chasing the feeling I had when the technique finally "clicked" for me when I was learning on the GS board. You're right about the AMT's versatility though, in fact I'm probably going to continue to rely upon it with softer bindings when riding with other softbooters who want to occasionally go off-piste. No harm in bringing two boards to the mountain to get the best of both worlds.

Well, here it is...  It took Bruce and I about 2 seasons to sort out my builds...  172x22 Contra with 11m SCR...  The graphics didn't quite turn out how I imagined, but Bruce said I shouldn't look at the board while I'm riding it...  I had imagined something with a more plywood color with a bit more detail, but what do you expect from an iPhone photo?  As I look at it more it looks more like sepia-toned petrified wood...  Anyway, first ride will be at MCC 2022...

Cheers,

Tim

Thanks!  Well, there were some of those stamps on the photo, but I seem to have cropped them out...

Or I could say that this is BV's new petrified wood core...

Anyway, I'm excited to ride the thing, and hopefully it will grow on me as I figure it out...

That Goofy Moose

The moose is what my wife wanted for the MCC logo. But we selected the graphic of @johnasmo

What is AsmoCarve

It is a board @johnasmodesigned last spring. Ask him about the details. I loved it so much from testing it last spring I got one just like it. Colorful onsie not included.

That Goofy Moose should end one day on some MCC tee shirts front logo....

Like it !....simple and funny 🤙

Reminds me of our Jackson Hole trip two years ago when a mother moose and her baby were litterly window shopping in Teton Village and the next day they were chasing people around who were in line for the Tram. Knowledgeable people say they are less afraid of people than they are if wolves.

My sons first board from Coiler, he is so pumped, best part is we got a huge storm coming our way this weekend. Perfect timing!  It was a pretty cool experience to have him work with Anna on the top sheet design.

Just notice, but please don’t take it like criticism, more like an advices when you are doing your graphic design. I  did same mistake on my first design also. In my “artistic fever “ I put pictures so nicely they were later covered with bindings. I think this will happen a boarding giant. Too bad I like him even more than goofy moose. Anyway have a great MCC.

Got a few things last year, which will be put to use in the coming months. Couple of not new things in there, too.

All mountain stuff: a secret board, carbon things to put bindings on, softer boots with softer top strap and a few different springs.

Carvey stuff: an all round size board, a bigger board, a plate, stiffer boots.

Other stuff: heated boot bag, new knees, couple of bindings. Zip fits will get rotated between boots.

Few things not pictured: an sg sleeve for moving between mountains, hope it doesn't delam, a new helmet, because I wanted to keep matching helmets with @slapos and a hydration pack so I can sweat profusely while only risking minor dehydration.
