jim_s
Wherein Jim pats himself on the back for serendipitously having chosen the black and white RC10's last year, before knowing that they'd so nicely match the MK he didn't know he was going to get this year! <:-) Edited December 28, 2017 by jim_s

Snowsurfer
I finally get to contribute to this thread - first brand new boards in about 10 years, both customs! I actually received the Coiler (first ever for me) near the end of last season, so far only one day on it in less-than-ideal conditions. The Donek just arrived last week, hope to get it out this weekend. Coiler Nirvana FC Balance: 174 cm, 20 cm waist, 10.5/12.7/12 m scr. I asked Bruce for a board to help me improve on the steeps and that is well-suited to the Cascade Concrete typically found on Mt Hood, and this is what he recommended. Donek Nomad: 170 cm, 25 cm waist, 8-13 SCR. A stiffer-than-stock nose to accommodate my stout 220 lbs. Really could have used this during the epic snow year last season in the PNW (!), but winter has technically just started, so hopefully it will get lots of use this year as well.

Lurch
Nice quiver. Must be just a trick of the light, but that Cult looks to be a lot wider than the extra 4cm the std specs say it has over the Full Carve?
guido591
The new Cult is quite a bit wider than the previous editions.

*Ace*
Ace Skwal Green Mountain Proto - 165cm. Updated version of the Thias Easy Jungle. I will be testing it out to see if this shape and construction are worthy of being carried over to a production series. So far it has only been tested out in powder conditions around 8-10" at Mt. Snow and at Ski Sundown. Edited January 5, 2018 by *Ace*

guido591
Thanks Kurt. I am enjoying both of the new rides. The waist is 24.5. The entire board is wider from tip to tail than the previous model.

That would give a rider a range of cant & lift options, compared to the straight 90 degrees aligned lift of the Bomber Skwal cant discs the photos show. And just out of interest, what stance distance are you running there?

I am very curious to know how it compares. I have Donek Rev 168 with 21.5cm width but I rode Donek Rev 180 today and it felt great. I felt like it was stiff but good stiffness and not overly stiff and I can carve some strong turns compared with my Rev.

I tried my new Secret 180 in a few varying conditions - I just couldn't reliably bend the thing. :( BIG turns only. Neither Sean nor I understand what's different from my Rev 180 demo ride (I'm now ~10 lbs heavier and stronger), but per the typical awesome Donek customer service I'm going to demo a standard Secret 180 in Aspen before we decide the next steps. TVR
I picked up a Secret 157 for my son, and a Rev 180 based on the secret for myself... Compared to either my green Rev (2015/2016) or my red Rev (2013 - 2015 vintage) it is more damp, but a bit more camber, so a bit more pop.... seems with the tighter starting side cut, it turns much better also.... As for my kids secret, he races it and took a gold in Sl on it and he looks good, as it turns real nice and has great edge control.... When I was at Nationals last year in copper, my kid looked good enough on it, vs other 160 and under boards, to have me buy him new, rather than a used one, so I hope this gives perspective.... If I had to give any negative on it at all, it would be buy a little heavy as it tends to not be as stiff (if you like the stiffer feel) as the other boards from the past.. (As in if you fluctuate between 180 and 195, lets say, buy for the 195 weight when they make it) I am a total armature, but my kid does well in races and likes it. He is 115 lbs and his was built for 125lb and he rocks his.

I can turn it, but man it's a LOT of work! It was a harsh season opener - I thought I forgot how to ride. I switched boards and came back to it a few days later with the same result.
*Ace*
@SunSurfer My stance width is 42cm center to center in the picture. The board has more inserts to go narrower for a more traditional skwal stance. BP lowers are slightly too wide for the board. It might be possible to trim them down slightly but I don't need any further adjustments with my stance options. I don't really want any suspension in my binding either. I am perfectly dialed in with my current setup, wouldn't change a thing!
