  1. Yes, I think right now I have to make the call to cancel the event at Berkshire East. I am open to perhaps meeting up at a different resort on that day 3/24/24 if anyone wants to try and get together.
  2. The weather outlook for March doesn’t look promising for the spring ski season. I might have to rethink a date and venue for this meetup unless the forecast changes after this week.
  3. @Shred Gruumer what about the base, just solid black?
  4. There are 6x new old stock SG boards on EBay that are $600 and below FYI. 1sboarder = All Board Sports
  5. Life has been a bit hectic for me. I have 3 boys now and 2 are currently beginner skiers, ages 7 and 4. When we go to the mountain I ride snowblades which helps me stay on their level. That being said, its been hard to get out by myself on carving gear. Today was my first day on the skwal...man did it feel good. Mental health system slightly recharged. It does get me depressed thinking that its mid February and its the first time on this gear. Dad life...
  6. Yes I will be bringing a bunch of boards and have some standard bail bindings too!
  7. Figured I'd put this out here too...maybe it could be like a Rally of sorts? Join us and others at Berkshire East Mountain Resort on 3/24/24 for a fun filled day of skwal riding with fellow enthusiasts. We chose Berkshire East Mountain Resort as the host for this event for a few different reasons. They are a family owned operation that has a great mix of terrain for riders of all abilities. The mountain is centrally located in New England and has affordable flex ticket prices. Plan to meet in the main lodge at 8:ooAM! Please fill out the form on our site with some basic info if you are thinking about attending. https://aceskwal.com/

    How to learn

Thias had some instructional stuff at the end of the Skwalmasutra film he put out some time ago. You can find the video online at this link. Forward to 21:50 to view the instructional part of the video. I would also suggest picking up a copy of the book 'The Inner Glide: The Tao of Skiing, Snowboarding, and Skwalling' by Patrick Thias Balmain. Lots of great techniques in this book and most are universally adaptable through the carving arts. Amazon usually has it available. I don't get up north as much as I used to as I have three younger kids now. Every once in a blue moon I am with my crew at Mount Snow. Its been a while since I've been to Stratton or Okemo or anywhere else up north. I find great terrain in Massachusetts so its hard to justify a longer roadtrip at higher ticket prices most times. I'd be happy to entertain an idea of a private instructional meetup somewhere. Shoot me a PM if you want to arrange something like that. I am also trying to loosely organize a New England Skwal Meetup for this season. There is a form on my site you can fill out to help gauge interest in the event. https://aceskwal.com/ @skhil hit the nail on the head as far as adapting techniques from alpine. I always advocate for spreading the stance out to help with stability.
  10. Sending some shirts for the raffle again this year. I am bummed this is yet another season of not being able to participate. Make some turns for me fellas!
  11. I have one of these collecting dust on the shelf. Look the upcoming thread in the classifieds or PM me.
  12. Camber profile reminds me of the Tinkler Sandman. I bent my prototype tester Ace Skwal GMP 165 in the middle so it’s basically a rocker profile now. Rides better than ever if you ask me
  13. @Cooke just make share to understand ‘if you find the right buyer’ and I am just estimating an auction price there too. It wasn’t uncommon for rarer vintage asyms to go for around $250 at auction a few years ago when I was searching them out. This isn’t your run of the mill Burton Alp Woody. This is the first time I have ever seen those Pogo branded SnowPro bindings as well. I don’t claim to be an expert, maybe my estimate is high , but this is a a rare bird in great condition for its age.
  14. That is a rare find, very nice! POGO boards almost never make their way onto the US market. I would estimate the market value on that might be $300-500 if you find the right buyer. Vintage stuff can be tricky to price accordingly. Good luck with the sale!
  15. I personally love how the new lift has the towers relocated on the side of Comp. This will now offer chair riders better views of that slope, which will be prime showboat territory! If only they increased the speed of the Exhibition Chair. That slope is so fun. I that place.... On a side note...I only have a pass for my local mountain, Ski Sundown, this year. I will probably be there 90% of the time with my 2 boys who also have passes for the 1st time ever. Both just have magic carpet and Rope Tow experience, so getting on the lift this year is going change the game for us. With any luck perhaps we will venture up to The BEast for a day.
  16. I say let’s forget all those ‘by the season’ threads and just go here for everything Berkshire East related. I saw this on Facebook today. They are putting in a high speed QUAD going up the side of Comp. The lift it’s replacing in the background will be relocated for the north side expansion.
  17. Thias 'Easy Jungle' 165 Ace Skwal 'Green Mountain Proto' 165 Virus Chimera 175 Donek 188
  18. I think he was saying that is the Donek standard way of leaving the factory and if you want something specific finish it yourself.
  19. Website update!!! https://aceskwal.com It should now be a little easier to use and should be more responsive for different browsers. Best to view on a desktop. Please kindly PM me to report any bugs. You can also find a form to fill out for a proposed North America Skwal Meet/DEMO. The idea is to plan a date in 2023/24 to gather a larger number of skwal riders together. Hopefully this will become an annual event and aims to connect and grow the skwal community. We hope to hear from you and see you next year!
  20. I originally flagged this as spam as it’s the only post this fellow has made.
  21. This is by no means a great setup. I wanted to see if I could cram my sons boots into a TD2 and it ended up just making it. The sole blocks are reversed and there is a lot of wiggle room that would need to be sorted on the toe bail. I have a set of the Elfgen binder that were previously mentioned. They have limited angles and also built in canting. Also not an ideal setup, but it connects you to the board. This is what I learned on back in the day of Hooger Booger rentals with rear entry ski boots.
