Would you mind doing a brief comparo of the 3 boards by any chance? I'm curious about the relative characteristics of all of these, in particular smoothness/ability to reduce bumpiness/dampness. Probably not entirely fair to trying to compare from memory, since I no longer have the K's or SG. I contributed a review of the SG 163 FRT in the "carve specific board" section. I'd like to get more good days on the Thirst boards and ride them back to back with my current boards which are all race derived construction with "recreational" sidecuts that like to complete turns. Thirst boards feel like a board designed with all the best characteristics of a modern race board, but designed from the bottom up, for recreational carvers who like to do big C shaped turns and experience some of the smoothness of a plate (built into the core) without additional hardware or any loss of snow feel. Poloturbo
Looks like the B-one top sheet I had last year. Or the Virus Revolution of last year Or else?

Popular Post Jack M
Winterstick Custom RS 166. My new softboot carver/banked slalom tool. Just picked it up. I asked them to try to replicate a Kessler sidecut, it’s about 10m average. 27.5cm waist so I can carve like Knapty. Ptex topsheet, carbon fiber weave, titanal inlay. Wintersticks are made at my home mountain, Sugarloaf, how can I resist?

bobdea
Ohh shit, Jack, wanna trade boards for a couple runs sometime? That thing have wood sidewalls? I’ve been a skeptic of that idea.... no matter how well they work I wonder if they put up with moisture over time.
Jack M
Ptex sidewalls. The woodie stuff is more decorative as far as I can tell. I have one of those and it’s holding up fine.

Wife and I are friends with the owner in charge of running the business and he gives me a deal, so I’ll just keep quiet about that. However the past few years Winterstick has run 40% off sales in the spring. I do like it very much. It carves better than the standard ST166. Longer effective edge, low profile early rise nose, more damp, torsionally stiffer, a bit stiffer lengthwise, better sidecut. I don’t have much to compare to though, never tried any other modern BX other than a F2 Eliminator 166 Wide that still wasn’t wide enough at only 26cm. As much as I could carve that, I would put this board up against it.

Waboarder
Hi There, I can't wait to get on my D.O.165! Love hearing about how they ride. I'm late to get started this season due to an ongoing project that is demanding of my time but I should be able to get on the D.O. in the next couple of weeks. The board looks sick! I ride at Crystal Mt. Wa., so mostly off piste but there are some pretty good groomers for carving. Anxious to see how it compares to my Kessler soft boot boards, Doneks and SG Bx board.

Lived in the big room at the village inn. Winter I was night Janitorial super for food and beverage which meant cleaning the lodge/ski patrol/chapel/ outside. Summer I was a bartender at the Pool/Bar and off seasons, trail crew and lift maintenance.
daveo
Damn, this is awkward. What am I gonna tell my Kessler 168? The new big boy just got shipped. Oxess SXR 182 custom. P-Tex topsheet, Titanal, 11-14scr, Medium Flex, Allflex inserts, unadventurous colours. Look at the nose on that thing, massive! (kinda like mine...) Buell
New custom softboot Kessler. I just could not find the softboot board that I wanted so I had Kessler make me one. It will pair well with my 162 Kessler SL. This one is 158 x 260 waist. Not sure of the exact construction, but there is metal in there. Not sure of the sidecut but it lines up very closely to my stock 163 Kessler Ride. I got a few turns on it yesterday in 3" of fresh over groom. Now we are getting pounded here in CA. Looking forward to getting it on the groomers again next week. The board on the right is a 157 x 260 waist Amplid Surfari. It is beautiful board (unfortunately this one is stiffer than I like for my 145 pounds so I am selling it and keeping last year's Surfari because it is softer.

Haha! You don't want that terrible, awful, worst riding board. I really hate it. I wouldn't want to subject you to such a bad board.
Karen
Back to the roots i go After riding extensively the Dupraz D1 in WAIST deep powder in Austria a week ago, the board limitations have surfaced...The lack of swallow tail (which i've become accustomed to for last 10 years) was felt immediately - the board nose wants to "dive in", especially on low speed...Also, the nose rocker tends to push the snow right at the tip rather than slice through it...Still, the D1 is a great board So, after much thought i've decided to go little shorter and wider with SwellPanik Twinzer...Custom made woodtop
