  1. Dang… I do love some Aspen carving! Just too close to MCC. Have fun!
  2. I was really hoping to make the M&C this year but without a private jet to zoom me from MCC there, it just is not practical. Have a great event!
  3. Those are great forecasts for Montucky!
  4. Little July 23 riding by @Bentnail
  5. We should be opening up registration the during the last two weeks of August for the 5th Annual Montucky Clear CUT. February 6-9, 2023. www.montuckyclearcut.com website should have the answers to a lot of your potential questions about travel, lodging, logistics and schedule. Kristin and I are thrilled to see you all again and meet all of the new MCC family members! Time to really get your pre-season training going to get the most out of your trip to Montucky! See you all in less than 6 months! Stay strong and healthy!
  6. Great to hear you will be joining us! Wyoming- Grand Targhee, it will either be great pow or great grooming. Montana - Maverick, just west of Dillon, MT, then must hit Discovery, Whitefish then on to Libby/Turner. Do not waste your time at Snowbowl near Missoula. Idaho - Lost Trail is always a favorite,Silver Mtn is pretty good, and Schweitzer is always great. Lookout on the MT/ID border has great grooming and happy carving runs from what I have been told. Kelly Canyon has forgotten how to use the groomers, not much vertical.
  7. @MillerLight60 so awesome to see younger carvers! Looks like you are having a great time! You look really confident. Getting to ride with other carvers will really help your riding development. Watching every video on the web of carving will paint pictures for how you want to shape your carving style. This forum is a great place to meet other carvers, get tips and make friends. This group of folks are absolutely the finest, most generous and kindest people I know. At the www.montuckyclearcut.com event we get the pack of carvers together to share the stoke. We have the whole ski area only open to our group, lots of demo boards and have an amazing group of instructors that put on clinics each day for all abilities. We also have a former World Cup coach and 2 former World Cup racers that put on race clinics.. Each year I clearly see clinic participants skills greatly improve! (yes another shameless plug for MCC) I am super stoked to have new member join the forum, thank you for joining us!
  8. email and PM sent to you @Deuxdiesel
  9. There is a group of ski/snowboard instructors from Big Sky that are really working hard at spreading the good word of carving. We had some generous folks from MCC pass a bunch of gear on to them to build up a demo fleet. They have put on several Carving Clinics at the PSIA get togethers with this gear. I could get you in touch with them.
  10. Sorry to sound like a broken record, Montucky Clear CUT clinics. 6 professional instructors, 1 former World Cup Coach and 2 former World Cup Racers…Clinics daily for all abilities.

  12. I believe @crackaddict meant a cursive “e” like on my photo from 3/28.
  13. Red Lodge Tracks with Erick.
  14. Not Whitefish, but still in Montucky… Red Lodge with Eirik and Charly. Eirik was test driving the Winterstick Montucky 172.2 and Charly was out for his first day of the 21-22 season. Super fun day riding with them!
  15. @MountainSlope North America is ready for another step-in option.
  16. As the Contra turns… the progression continues… The Contra came first, then the Contra Wogo and we are now on the Contra KK and Contra AC. @johnasmocould fill you in on the details of the KK and AC. Some of the improvements from the WOGO, AC and KK have been incorporated into the whole Contra lineup. The Contra AC 174 has amazing ice edge hold and a huge range of conditions that it is a riot to ride. After riding the AC, I would say that segmented sidecut on the WOGO is not necessary. The WOGO does have extra rubber to make it extra damp, but that can be added to any board. Coiler will be building fewer and fewer boards each year. Getting on the list for a board and actually getting one will be more and more challenging. The Winterstick Montucky and Donek Freecarve with Secret Construction are exceptional boards and I have had a great time riding them this season. They both are brilliantly constructed, very damp (if you want damp), forgiving and intuitive to ride. Just ask for a @johnasmo sidecut profile when getting one built. Most importantly, talk with whoever is building your new board, be really honest about your ability, conditions you ride in (steepness and run width) speed you like to carry, turn size, and fitness level. All of the builders will help you get on a board that fits you.
  17. Great filming and editing @johnasmo! The new twist to this filming was John and I figuring out how to get camera and riding set up to do the leader cam footage (camera looking uphill off of back of leaders helmet). This was some challenging riding for me and John. For John, keeping his head looking down the fall line and me trying to stack turns to stay in the field of view, like riding gates only being able to see one gate ahead.
  18. Great question! I have been slammed with work/life since the event and Anna has been helping displaced people from the Ukraine, so MCC has been on the back burner for us. You may have seen our Facebook and Instagram has been rather quiet because of this. As time permits in our lives we will most certainly be getting Facebook & Instagram freshened up and videos released. I know Clint and Lauren shot a ton of great stuff on and off the slope. We are looking forward to sharing it with you all. We are still on for the 2023 MCC February 6-9!!!! Thank you all for the great support and looking forward to seeing you all next year!
  19. Not sure of individual instruction but we do have 4 days of clinics with some amazing instructors at the Montucky Clear CUT in February. www.montuckyclearcut.com
  20. Not at Whitefish but still Montucky, Red Lodge, MT
  21. Winterstick Montucky 172.2 getting bent
  22. New Winterstick Montucky 172.2 is working great!
  23. @crackaddict Nice stacks of loops! Well done! I imagine in soft boots also! Here is a baby loop I made just for you!
  24. @soccerdoge of Winterstick delivers! I wanted a board with a whole bunch of “2’s” in it. 12.2 SCR of @johnasmosidecut, 172.2 length, 18.2 width, 22.22 reference stance Why? Well it is 2022 (and one of the MCC days was 2/2/22) so why not 2’s?) oh and this is the 2nd generation of the Winterstick Montucky.
  25. I spent 1 day on a Oxess 182 something, with a progressive sidecut, it was a bit too stiff for me and I do not like the carving qualities of progressive sidecuts. @Heinz had me jump on his brand new Nevin Oxess. Two turns in and I was quite happy. The board was, quiet, damp, intuitive, all-day-rideable and fun. P-Tex top sheets sure make for a quite board. With all the fancy sidecuts I have been riding over the years (VRS, WARP, CONTRA, Progressive, Blah, Blah Blah) I was very pleased with the good old single sidecut 12.5m SCR on the Nevin. The flex was just right, so you could still tighten or lengthen turns by loading the tip/tail or resisting flex between the bindings. Oxess has some great engineering and building experience. They are doing really well on the World Cup SL/GS/BX. Nevin and Oxess nailed it on building a fun free carving board. As you have seen from @Shred Gruumerboards, they will build whatever your heart desires. My only change to the board for my riding preferences would have been to have it 18cm wide at the waist.
