  1. But with a wider stance you can increase or decrease the amount of bending between the bindings by resisting/torquing legs together or apart. Another factor is what parts of the board are stiffer than others? Tip, mid, tail or evenly? Agreed...very complex...what about how quickly or slowly the board wants to return any bent energy. (Think rebound and compression on off road shocks). What about how much deflection before the board gets stiff? Oh so many variables!
  2. @Neil Gendzwill love the graphics!! Looks like a super fun board also!!
  3. The amount of time and effort you put in to get these shots is amazing! Well done!
  4. So I had a very interesting set of questions that led me to write the email below. My question to you is "What is MCC to you?" Dear XXXX, The MCC experience is very different depending on what you want from it. If you want clinics to improve your carving, we have 6 amazing instructors with clinics every day. If you want to try some different boards, we have demo boards and the builders are there to chat with them about their boards. If you want to meet other like minded carvers, we have lots of those. If you want to ride without fear of getting hit from behind, we have a “No Passing Rule” on the groomers, so you can ride top to bottom without fear of getting hit from behind. If you want to see your carving buddies from all over the US and Canada that you only get to see once a year, then this is the place. If you are a lone wolf carver and want to meet other lone wolves, this is where we gather and feel normal. If you want to talk carving and gear with peers, this is the place. If you want to spend your money on a vacation that really helps out a community volunteer ski area and underserved community, Libby and Turner Mtn are the place to do it. If you want to bring your family or a buddy along that does not ski, we welcome them what ever they ride. If you want to experience a remote part of NW Montana in the winter, this is the trip. My motivations for putting this event on are: 1. To support a not for profit community ski area that I grew up at with fundraising. 2. Promote tourism in the town I grew up in. Libby was historically a mining and logging town and has struggled with carving out a new economic niche in the world. 3. Have a unique carving experience that promotes the sport, our sponsors and creates friendships. The people that come to the event are the kindest, friendliest, most genuine people I have ever know. It is an honor for me to provide the playground for them to have an amazing experience. Yes there is some tailgating going on, during the COVID years of the event that really blossomed. There is an amazing kitchen at the hill with some really outstanding food. The Chef is a cook at one of the fishing lodges in the area and he has some amazing breakfasts and lunches at really reasonable prices. As far as traveling to the even please see this page. https://montuckyclearcut.com/logistics That should answer all of your question about getting to Libby and places to stay. The Venture Inn is a popular choice for lodging. You will not be holding anyone back, and our instructors will most certainly help you progress. That being said, Turner is not a beginner friendly mountain. There are not a lot of easy green runs. I usually get several email after the event from people like you, that say “I was intimidated by Turner and the runs at first, then I took a clinic, rode a bunch and now riding at home is easy and almost boring”. Every year I see folks show up looking like they are in the wrong place, then introduce them to folks, and by the end of the event their riding has improved a bunch and they have made a bunch of carving friends. We have a schedule to see what is currently planned a https://montuckyclearcut.com/schedule. I hope this help answer some of your question.
  5. This sounds like a very personal issue and solution. I would suggest trying a few different combinations in your living room doing some carped carving. It may also be a case of moving your bindings back or forward to get your legs working evenly. Or adding or taking away lifts/cants…. oh so many possible solutions…..and causes.
  6. Stances are such a “it works and feels good to me” thing. I prefer 6degree toe(front) and heel (back) lift with my TD3’s. On F2 I like toe and heel lift but a 3/4inch narrower stance because the lift is a bit less on them. Tweaking variables and living room carpet riding are a great place to start figuring out YOUR stance.
  7. Been a bit too warm for snowmaking, hopefully that changes. No Aaron sighting for me on Friday.
  8. @NateW Well done to both you and Winterstick! I think it is so creative of a design. You just might be on to something that is another breakthrough for the sport. Because this is such a niche sport, our board builders do not have deep pockets for R&D in the carving line up, so it takes people with ideas and money to help push the progression. i am excited to hear how the carving performance is. You just never know till you try.
  9. Friday after opening day was not too bad. Only backside open, much snow and cooler temps needed to get front open.
  10. Since the forum has been so quiet I have been putting more effort into other social media. If you want to see lots of photos and video clips tune into Facebook and Instagram. We have a Facebook Group called Montucky Clear CUT and a Facebook page of the same name. You can also find us on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/montuckyclearcut/ If you want me to share more of that content here, with enough wild reactions I try and post more here. Only 19 spots left, but still time to plan and register. Cheers
  11. Our instructor group will be hosting a Stance Tweaking clinic on Sunday January 28th from 5-7pm in the conference room of the Venture Inn Hotel. This will be at the same time and place as Registration Packet Pickup. Bring your board, bindings and boots and they will help you adjust your setup to help you progress. See you all soon!
  12. 19 spots left. Still time to plan and register. Thank you so very much for the great support from those of you that have registered! See you soon!
  13. @weather_nerd Hi! I do not recall the exact specs on that one. Rob Lu. @soccerdoge of Winterstick would be able to help you. That was a really nice riding board!
  14. I just stumbled across this gem. Looks like @fin is heading around the world on his motorcycle MechanicO. Looks pretty epic!
  15. Interesting...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowboard and even more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skwal
  16. That’s Right! It is not just business, it is show business!
  17. @WinterGold another great video! I am always impressed with how much work you put into your videos. Looks like you spend a lot of time setting up a camera, hiking back up the hill then capturing the 3 second clip you are wanting. Well done! Will you be at Moon and Carve this year? I would love to get to meet and ride with you.
  18. I just looked at Donek and YYZ Canuck and did not see them there either.
  19. @Shred Gruumer No one finds the rare stuff like you! Well done!
  20. 38 spots left. Lots of new folks joining us this year. @Mike Kildevaeld is planning on bringing some demo One-Skis. I Al looking forward to trying them. see you all soon! Stay strong and healthy!
  21. I agree with @Jack M get the extra F2 toe/ heel lift. https://www.donek.com/product/f2-heeltoe-lift-large/ (make sure you get right size for bindings) The Step-in bindings are super easy, quick and reliable. Be sure to also get the heels with them. https://www.donek.com/product/intec-heel-kit/ You will have a great setup! You may want to consider a board closer to a 10m SCR for starting out. It will turn at a slower speed and inspire some confidence. If you want to meet a bunch of carvers and take a bunch of clinics, check out the Montucky Clear CUT www.montuckyclearcut.com
