T3 is the standard titanal build for Coiler, T4 is a little thicker. T3 is in short supply, T4 is much more plentiful.

Carving is like riding a bike in traffic. Yes bright colors help, and yes there are rules that should be followed, but sadly your safety relies solely on your situational awareness. As a bright and often obnoxious onesie wearer, I will say it really does not significantly reduce straight lining jacks$$”s from doing their thing. MCC is the only place I only look up hill once before starting down. “No Passing Rule” on groomed runs for the.whole event.

@Coreylove the velcro addition! when things are really stuck on I use the heel receiver on the SW Stepin to scrape. I have not tried, but maybe some silicone spray on heel and binding?

I was in Libby Friday doing some MCC chores and helping out the Parents. It has been a long time since I have seen that much snow in Libby this early in December. Reminds me of the winter of 94-95, if I remember correctly. Every day was a powder day that winter… so don’t forget to bring a powder setup!

When I hear more updates/inside story on the Shed and the Evergreen from my parents, I’ll let you all know.

If you were booked at the Evergreen Inn for MCC, you should have gotten a phone call saying that they are closing at the end of this month. If you were booked at the Evergreen Inn you may want to verify and re-book elsewhere in Libby. The Venture Inn and Country Inn are great choices. If you are wanting a cabin by the river just north of Libby, check out Kootenai Angler. Here is a link to the video podcast. Matt Larson is a heck of a great guy! He joined us last year at MCC with a small tribe of professional ski/snowboard instructors and put on some amazing clinics. This group of folks really know how to help people learn and progress with carving. There is a whole group of professional instructors in the Bozeman/Big Sky Area that are super STOKED to be carving. I could not think of a better place to grow the carving community than from this energetic group. They are doing a great job spreading the good word of carving. We will have much of that tribe of instructors back this year putting on clinics for all ability levels again.

Gloves/mitts with wrist guards: Level has not made the Super Carve mitt for a couple years. https://www.ebay.com/itm/144535550011. I have a couple pairs, and they needed the seams sealed, and some shoe glue to keep the material from wearing down on the icy days. Very pricy for a mitten that you still have to do work on to make last. Seirus has the Skeleton glove. https://www.seirus.com/skeletontm-glove. Great wrist guard, not horribly priced. Lots of Shoe Glue needed to make them durable. Seirus use to make a mitten call the Da Bones. Great wrist guard, but needed lots of shoe glue to keep them together. Dakine use to make the Nova Mitt with a wrist guard. Great wrist guard, reasonably priced, easy to shoe glue them up to make them last. I have not tried these https://www.dakine.com/products/wristguard-glove look like a good canidate for shoe glue and e6000 to get them to where they would last. Thor http://www.thorsnowgloves.com. No wrist guard, but simple and well built. But be sure to follow recommendations from the maker, seal seams with Loctite E6000 and spray with a couple layers of polyurethane spray on whole mitten. I know I could not drag my hands, or use them as a crutch, but I live in Montana and typically ride snow that does not demand great technique. That all being said... dragging a hand can and will lead to shoulder and wrist injuries, so be very thoughtful about "patting the dog".

@SunSurferSorry for the late reply on this one. I drove front wheel drive cars without snow tires for years up to Turner and around Montana. Only had to put on chains one time in the last 3 decades, rain on icy roads event. The access road and parking lot are gravel, so I doubt that would qualify as unsealed road surface. I currently drive a rear wheel drive van with snow tires and have no issues at all. That being said I have driven in Montana for my whole life. Any SUV/Minivan rental you get from Kalispell will be either AWD or FWD. If chains are necessary for any driving between Kalispell and Libby, it will be the storm of the century. I just finished reading Don Schwartz”s just released book - Beating the Impossible. It is not very often I sit and read for long periods of time, but this book hooked me. Great story telling, great insight on healing and overcoming challenges. This is one of those books that could really make a difference in your world or the way you view it. For those of you that are not familiar with Don, Pro-Snowboarder (late 80’s early 90’), Barefoot waterskiing champ, Death Racer, Mountain guide, helicopter pilot, Dad, husband and all around great person.
