The title of this thread keeps catching my eye..Powder Board. Powder Board was my first snowboard brand with my brother from 1979-1992. Talk about powder (Park City, Utah), that's all we had back then for the first 7 years of riding until Park West opened to boarding in 1986. We went powder boarding, not snowboarding.

Yes, she is quite comfortable on a longer board. A few things that I found we worked on were: In the very beginning she would freak when she would get half way through her turn...keep in mind that in the beginning he will not be linking trenches, when he is drifting from one turn to the next tell him to be patient, be mindful of the downhill edge, it'll come around as long as you can keep him from falling back on the tail with his weight. Oh, yes..and, his board angulation comes from his hips in hardboots, not his ankles. To work on carving: It takes a little speed to make a turn, so start by pointing straight down the fall line then make the turn across and up the hill to stop ("J" turns). Work on that trusting of a set edge. When he can come out of his turn and begin to prepare for the next, look into your turn and through the turn, rotating hips and bringing your shoulders square with the direction and not having an arm lagging behind (the latter kinda one in the same). . I am sure you know all these things, just thought I would bring them out in the open for some teaching ammo. Hope you guys have a great time carving it up!

My daughter started hardbooting at age 9; when her feet were big enough to fit properly in a pair of Head stratus pro boots (22.0M). She is 13 now and started riding a Thirst SF 162 last year (when she was under 5' tall). She has never softbooted at a resort; though we do ride softies at home when we get fresh snow. Hard part is she does not have any friends who hardboot, and she wants to have fun with her friends so she will switch to skiing at some point in the day to hang with them. She puts up with us "old guys" and we are happy to have her represent "us". I enjoy having this time with my daughter, even if she chooses to ski from time to time. Getting them set-up might be difficult to do since they lack the experience and "hardboot vocabulary" to convey to you what they are experiencing.

Well I thought it was an incredible day to carve, rode the Thirst tesi8 all day. Took a few runs with Kram, Dane, Pusbag & wife. Snow was very firm to hard, it would take all the pressure you could give it until your legs collapsed under the G's. Rode, Lower K, Cathedral, Midway, Lil blue, Zip Down, Down the hatch and Loophole..few other runs getting from one place to the other as well as a few duplicates. Not many people on the hill either. Stayed until 2:15. Hope Thursday is another day like today.

Its spring! I'm riding, it was nice today. Thaaat is correct BWD.. I miss my XC a ton!. I'd keep the SF and get an XC...never sell your Thirst's unless you are in bed with a board builder. Hell, I wish I'd never sold the most recent 8RW, Super and XC from my personal quiver. I need a drink to go with my popcorn, ha ha.

My daughter and I did go carving tonight, I think there were about 10 people total. It was cold, snow was hard and dry and not skied out. Had a great time, some of the best carving yet this year.

I build all the boards custom for the rider. I try my best to communicate with the customer and get at what they want and need. I set a target Flex Index with a build and am usually within a few ounces upon completion (closest I have gotten is 1/3 of an ounce to target). After customers buy a board or two we start to communicate with flex index to determine the stiffness as the most basic modification. No two boards I have built are alike in numerous aspects, its all for the customer. I do not modify the shape of the sidecut of my models except on occasion I WARP a model to fit the customers desires, i.e. CC, CC+, X-model, TS, PC and PCjv are not typical WARP models, though I have built the X-model, CC, and CC+ WARPed. Flex, width, taper and insert location for stance spread according to the needs of the rider are some of the obvious mods I do. I cannot communicate the differences of all mfgs and models for comparison in stiffness especially since a great amount of those are custom builds. One customer that I know of has made my Flex Index comparison on a few of his boards and it was an eye-opener for him/us to put the stiffness in a quantifiable term (for us at least). Having those measurements made it made it easier to communicate what that board was to them and how we approached a target for a new custom Thirst model.

The RC-12 is a continuation of the RC-11 and RC-12 from previous season, some changes in the toe and heel pads, new buckles, shoxxter strap and lower shell plastic material for this year. The XC-12 is a "extreme carve" model (new model for the 19/20 season). The spring box is larger and does not have a lock position. There are also choices for the springs depending upon what your needs are. In addition the shell plastic is of a softer type than the RC-12. I am an outside rep for UPZNorthAmerica and have spent many seasons in UPZ boots. I'd be happy to help, just shoot me a message.
