  1. oh - one thing that did impress me - for the first time i actually saw a loading expediter (on eagle)! hopefully a more common practice; considering how busy things get, they're impressively bad at actually making an effort to fill every chair. (rants into the void).
  2. hahaha... oh, cypress (operations), you never fail to disappoint. at least i approach the place with low expectations, so i'm rarely surprised. 3 runs in half a day (with early start), then we pulled the plug. that said, said runs were pretty good times; some ridiculously deep turns on raven & lions (when it finally opened) eastide glades were had, and poutine on the sunny patio - exchanging resort critical rants with fellow customers - was satisfying.
  3. sweet build! put together a new commencal meta tr 29 this season. winter this year has been the perfect equilibrium - solid snowfall on the local (vancouver north shore) mountains, but the majority of the lower bike trails have been clear. it's been a great season.
  4. burton drivers. they've been solid, though are softening up a bit after a couple years use. lazy me kinda wants a boa boot next. maybe ride insano?
  5. tippie is a national treasure. chatted with him several times over the years (mostly on bikes, but did run into him once boarding). his stoke for life is through the roof; such a rad guy.
  6. yer; longest one you can get. i'm on a 159, which is still a tight turning fun hog.
  7. yeah; oakley factory pilots + mullet = *chefs kiss*. also: remember leashes?
  8. started boarding in the mid-80's, and coming from skiing, found the sorell / highback interface to be fairly shit, so tried my ski boots (stiff lange zr's) in some gnu highbacks (using only the ladders / ratchets), which worked surprisingly well. ran this setup for a couple years prior to picking up some proper burton plates & hard boots.
  9. do you have a general idea of when peak hours (or time(s) to avoid) on the mtn are these days? we've been relatively lucky so far, but definitely have had to be strategic with the timing (ie, getting up extra early in the am, or early afternoon before the evening crowd). buddy went up the hill this eve, but got stuck in a traffic line so long they gave up & turned around before even getting to the hill. I'm assuming (hoping?) that at some point fewer people will even attempt after experiencing some of the peak lines.
  10. this evening was rad; kind of a firm pow. stiff wind & continuous snow was resetting nicely. lots of fresh lines to be had on the peripheries, but the groomers were super fun / forgiving aggressive carving happy making times as well. lines were still on the long side, but i guess this is the new norm for the time being.
  11. this AM was siiiick. lots of deep turns to be had; crowds stayed away from raven, thankfully.
  12. Update - WVPD paid the seller a visit & board is back in my hands! Totally wasn't expecting to ever see this deck again; good thing for easily identifiable esoteric gear I guess? Thanks so much for pointing out the ad!
  13. interesting that he doesn't appear to know the manufacturer - though must have done a cursory google to find the diamond blade model name (both of which aren't actually printed anywhere on the board). *shrug* oh - thanks for posting this!
  14. Yeah, no problem definitively ID'ing the board. I've contacted WVPD with the original case file info; will see what transpires. I'd assume (a year later) that this wouldn't be the original perp, but the fact he's saying it was purchased new is certainly shady.
  15. oh shit, that's mine. time to contact the WVPD & see if there's anything that can be done...
  16. ^on point. carving growth with come primarily from softboots. some will spill over into new hardboot sales, though i think overall that market will shrink as more people discover how capable modern sb gear can be. the n/a market has yet to see the breadth of aggressive sb gear options that Asian markets have enjoyed, but methinks we'll see growth in this sector in short order. also: why am i even lurking on a sb site right now?? board has been hung up for 2 months, and the mountain biking is prime.
  17. saturday was sick! was totally surprised by the lack of crowds. virus paranoia? regardless, not complaining.
  18. hope they get that patched up soon. operations at that hill seem to have been tenuous for a long time. that used to be my home mountain as a kid; lots of good memories there (both learned how to ski and snowboard there) .
  19. saturday am was surprisingly good despite the marginal conditions. decent manmade snow, blue skies & no line. good fun blowing off the cobwebs. not looking quite so good currently, however...
  20. was referring to the opinion of myself only; no assumption intended! besides, i can clearly see by your avatar image that you're not a man, but a (possibly) malevolent AI.
  21. one man's opinion, but i luuuurve the orca. such a fun all terrain playboard. if you've got wide, open, high speed groomers i'd opt for something larger radius, but this is such a rad & forgiving energetic tight carving / bump eating / pow stash infiltrating device. impressive versatility.
  22. that's some aggressive splay (and stance width). curious what the benefit of that kind of spread is. i'm currently on 27/21 - as square as i can go w/o boot on on my ~27cm deck. having previously run steep angles on hard boots, i def prefer the current stance for steeps / bumps / trees / all around slashing versatility (echoing rob). i suppose one could actually try it out, rather than conjecture... the displayed skills of some of these guys is certainly a convincing argument, however. that potential more or less prompted me to ditch the hard gear.
