  1. anybody have any info on the 'new' oxygen proton gs (ie, the cheap ones on ebay)? an amazing lack of data of any type online. decent bang for the buck, or not worth the time? any ideas what the scr's are (only widths listed)? cheers!
  2. what are the specs on the donec (if fanman doesn't grab it)?
  3. what do titanal coilers sell for currently?
  4. now with topsheet: http://www.priorsnowboards.com/boards_wcr_metal.php interesting that they still offer a non-topsheet version - without warranty (doesn't say much for the previous version).
  5. what are the benefits of going super narrow (not a criticism, just curious)? super quick edge to edge i assume. do they work in conditions other than perfect groom? seems (intuitively) suited to a fairly narrow range of conditions. it's an interesting extreme. any vids of riders on board such skinny hardware?
  6. how about the f2's in comparison? not as trick looking (have ti bales though), but cheaper, and they look solid & simple to set up. (another born-again alpine newb looking to upgrade my decade+ old hardware) .
  7. sweet boards, those viruses (virii?). is that the metal w/ wood inlay version? will keep my eyes open for it. probably head up tonight; looks like a possibility of rain for tues.
  8. no insult taken. i'm not too congnisant of technique; just a curious observation. hope the kid gets better soon. cheers.
  9. yeah, that sounds like me. will keep an eye open. i'm typically up evenings, though; ditching the family on weekend days is a rare indulgence. i see you skirt that issue by bringing the kid - that's awesome. my son is 17mos - he rides in the bike trailer on a regular basis & i've packed him up the grouse grind, but never played on the slopes. ski's are obviously a requirement, and i haven't been on 2 planks for a couple decades, so probably won't be exploring that option any day soon. cudos, though. can't wait till he's old enough to strap on some skis. sl skid / carver, huh? symptomatic of years on less carvey hardware i guess. i'm trying to come to grips with my riding style in regards to what i should be looking for in a new board. sounds like i want an oxymoronic board - turns quick, yet stable at speed & versatile in a variety of conditions. oi.
  10. hey - i saw you guys up there (recognize you in the above pics). damn, i should have said hi - i guess the likelihood was high that some of you were on this board. fun evening. i'm totally sold on alpine gear now. it's rekindled my interest in snowboarding again. amazes me that more people haven't caught on & it's still a fringe segment. oh well. i'm perry, btw (riding a vintage option c165). cheers!
  11. i saw one guy last sunday morning (fun carving conditions) on a red deck; who'd that be? i was actually curious about using hardboots on the palmer, as i've never been totally happy with the soft setup i have. not a good pain to performance ratio. i actually pulled out the dusty alpine gear because my softboots were giving me that much grief. my hardboots are ancient (burton mgx's) but super comfy. can you get away with decent plate angles (i'm running 50*/45* on the option) on a wider bx board (~24.5" waist) and still get enough leverage? guess i should just try it. oh - it's a 163. sorry for the plethora of newb-ish questions. i've been boarding for over 2 decades, but have only dabbled the last handful of years due to conflicting recreational / life activities, and am currently out of the loop. cheers!
  12. thanks, guys. interestingly, i had an fantastic evening on cypress the other night on the option in dumping conditions. fresh turns to be had every run; i was really surprised how good hardbooting in the fresh was. definitely re-hooked on the gear again (the palmer will most likely be neglected). a demo should be in order (i'm really curious as to how my ancient board compares to the new gear), though i rarely get up to whizzler these days. we will see...
  13. i've newly re-discovered the joys of alpine hardware. i've been riding softies for the last 5 years (currently on a palmer titanium), and pulled out my old option c165 for kicks (i rode alpine gear for several years previously), and was blown away by how fun the alpine gear was. the option is a great board (at least by my limited perspective), but getting a bit beat; now i'm pondering a replacement. i'd like to support prior, as he's local (and they're good people; we bought my wife's last board at the factory). i'm curious how the 4wd & wcr would compare to my current board (it seems to sit in between the two in terms of width). as i like to hit a variety of terrain (steep, pow, bumps as well as the fast groomers), the 4wd seems an obvious choice, but i'm still curious about the wcr, as i like aggressive boards (and would pull out the softboot gear for big snow days anyways). anybody with experience with both (or even better, have ever ridden the option)? cheers!
