  1. i shall crush you all with my staggering collection amassed over the last two decades: gnu antigravity 166 kemper apex sl 160 option c165 palmer titanium 164 prior wcr metal 177 evidently, i make my boards last a long time. more a factor of not getting up the hill more than a handful of times per season. i'm thinking this is about to change. the prior has definitely been a revelation. starting to figure out what 'real' carving is all about, and i'm seriously addicted. it's like a new sport, really.
  2. sweet pic, boris! looks like the wc pgs has been canceled. what's wrong with the conditions?
  3. i was up wed night. conditions were surprisingly decent. compacted fresh w/ a bit of ice here & there on the steeper stuff. made for some fun carving. the wcr is such a different animal in comparison to my antique deck. huge grip & confidence inspiring at speed. surprisingly forgiving & manageable in the tighter stuff despite the length. modern hardware rocks!
  4. i'd second the nudge just to drool over the eye candy. such trick boards.
  5. never knew they did boards. whatever happened to james klassen anyways? the owner of the shop i used to work at knew him back when they were working out of bellingham. bright guy.
  6. the wide decks sound totally boss. good stuff. 7. width is 19.7. effective edge ~160, scr roughly 13m based on my quick calcs. specs seem close to the 183, only in a more conveniant package.
  8. yes, metal. i actually asked if they could do clear on a whim; the fact they had premade topsheets w/ the white logos suggests that it will be a standard offering at some point. interesting that the glass wcrs have two strips of carbon, whilst the metals have full coverage. no idea why, but cool aesthetically, nontheless.
  9. it's a wcr. clear topsheet & hammerhead nose. i originally ordered a 177 & assumed the stub version would just involve shortening up the standard nose, so the overall would be a bit shorter. as it is, they've retained the overall length, so the running length is considerably longer. i'm wondering if this will be the standard build for '10 (a longer effective edge was mentioned somewhere). anyways, i'm stoked. i'm not worthy, but at least i won't be able to blame the equipment any more. edit - now with bindings!
  10. arrived from my favorite whistler manufactory today. alas, not in my hands; picking up in a couple hours. so stoked to try out some high zoot modern hardware! (sorry for the teaser post; venting some anxiety).
  11. i was up last night. despite random patches of ice under fresh, rainbow was good times. it was dumping heavily the whole time, so conditions improved through the night whilst people disappeared. given the dismal snow conditions we've had this year, i'm relatively non-discriminating. some nice huge features on the bx course - should be cool to see.
  12. for what it's worth, i've got a pair of those same boots (i'd buy those if they were eu9's), and they work fine with my td'3 w/ just a little shaving of the shell.
  13. who isn't doing a tower in dubai these days? is it at least 1km high? that sounds like an epic event. i thought it was pretty special the last time i saw 4 other hb'ers at our local hill. good times.
  14. yeah. still tilts back enough for the boot to slide over top if not positioned *just right*. could just be an issue with the shape of my vintage boots as well. not sure if anyone else experiences this.
  15. that's actually my one criticism of my td3's. sometimes tough to get the heel to stay upright while locking in the toe, so it takes a few attempts. my ancient rad-airs have a spring loaded heel bail, so this is never an issue. wonder if there's a mcgyver hack to alleviate this issue...
  16. my god! thats amazing. in how many years? i'm at ~15. go me!
  17. the subtle domo-kun rocks. specs?
  18. that was you in the beige, yes? though not perfect, the little bit of fresh was a nice change from the glare ice i've been riding lately. unfortunately we had run closures due to pipe maintenance (whatever that side of the mountain is called). the hike to the lot did indeed suck. i demand convenience!
  19. i had a gnu antigravity a long time ago (~15+yrs?). while it had pretty decent carving capability for the time (ie, was pretty stiff & had effective camber & sidecut), i was never a fan of the traditional nose shape aesthetics & much preferred a blunt nose (ahead of my time i was). so i proceded to draw a nice schtubby / kst profile on there & cut it down with a jigsaw. it finished up nicely & looked sweet. took it to baker (on a typical chundery / heavy snow day). was having a good time, though the nose hooked a couple times in the ungroomed stuff, sending me for cartwheels. uneventful in the soft snow & thought nothing of it. on a subsequent run, running fast across a flatish tracked area, the nose dug HARD (going straight, totally unexpected) & lawndarted me onto my head / shoulder, and *pop* goes the clavicle (damn those underengineered bones). i assumed there was enough scoop left on the nose, evidently not. dumb. yes, i retired the board that day.
  20. no. i'm primarily night patrol, unfortunately. one day i'd like to experience 'hero cord' (or any freshly groomed slope for that matter). hope you can get back on the hill before season end; drink your milk!
  21. that sucks! sending healing vibes your way. heal up fast!

    good beer

the palo is good stuff (just had one last night). would love to cellar a few for a couple years, but have not the patience...
  23. great to see more hb'ers on the hill. bb was ripping some sweet laid out turns on the big kessler. definitely inspirational as well as educational. i'm starting to wrap my head around clean carved turns - slowly unlearning my well ingrained tendency to do short radius j-turns down the fall line & using more angulation & riding a clean edge. really surprising the lateral speed / g's you can generate in a carve. i'm ending up on my ass lots, but having a great time. though i've been boarding for over a couple decades, this is like a new sport - good times. cheers, guys!
  24. i will toast the man & make some turns in his honor this eve. ripping oldschool:
  25. (paging bruce v) - can i get a quote on a monsterschtubby goldfinger edition?
