  1. Do you know whether Mammoth has a good shop, like Footloose sports? I got a custom made insole done there and they know their work but never a tuning on a trench digger. Otherwise it's to Donek which is going to be an expensive tune-up.
  2. <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I live in Tehachapi (about 2.5 hours north of LA) and am in need of a good tuning shop for my Donek FC II. I need some edge and base work done (hit some rocks over the weekend). Any suggestions? I'm relying on you guys. Thanks in advance.

  4. Okay, I've done it. Ordered 175 FC II Std, Catek OS2's and Head boots. I decided on the Std rather than Olympic because I know I'm going to jump light years ahead of what I have now and I'll see if it's enough. I didn't know which bindings to go with but neither Bomber nor Donek had TD2's so I went with Catek. The Head boots because of width. Thanks to All for your input. I can't wait to try to everything out.

    Prior WCR 175

Is this a metal board? Would you know how it compares to a Donek FCII Olympic? Thx!
  6. Mike T, above you refer to the Olympic construction benefiting more on shorter boards. Would a Donek FC 175 fall under that category or is it right in the middle as has been elluded to before. Thx!!
  7. Thanks for the lesson... What performance characteristics are you referring to? What makes them better? I found a Prior World Cup Race 171 with a good price - this isn't a titanal is it? World Cup Race Metal is a titanal - correct? How would the World Cup Race 171 compare with a FC 175 Olympic?
  8. Mike T, I need a lesson...what's a titanal board?? And, are you saying that both the Olympics and titanals are worth spending the coin? I just went to the Prior web site and looked at the World Cup Race boards. The price is actually cheaper than a Donek Olympic. I was headed toward a FCII but now I'm wondering...is Prior the way to go??
  9. Fastskiguy, is your FCII 171 the Olymic Upgrade? If not have you tried one? Or vice versa?
  10. What about the Olympic Upgrade? Anyone have any experience with this?
  11. FASTSKIGUY, I seemed to have missed your posting because earlier I was on my PDA (small screen). Thanks for your input. Now I'm screwed... FCII yes but 171 or 175?? Can 4 cm make that big a difference? I do like my old, very old, Burton Alp 169 but in comparison with todays gear, it's a 2x4. Maybe it will end-up in a coin toss. After seeing some videos on YouTube my initial response was to jump allover the EC boards, especialy the Donek Blade 180 medium (which Sean suggested), which you have. Maybe I'll start with the FC and next year it's the Blade. It seems that most of the carvers have a few quivers - why not me too?
  12. Thx MikeT, you (and all) have been a great help. It looks like I'm leaning toward the Donek FC 175. What about bindings? Catek or TD2?
  13. If I was to go with the Donek FCII, what length should I get 171, 175, longer? My Burton Alp is 169. I'm 6.0' and 190 lbs. I suspect the 171 would be snappier - would it still be stable at higher speeds?
  14. Great input everyone! I have 28.5 so I'm told I need 28's according to Bomber. I suspect the Heads will work better - I have wide feet. One more question regarding the FC. If I decide to try a EC turn will it hold the carve or will I lose it? Not necessary thinking about laying down an armpit (although that would be great) but at least both forearms.
