CATEK Update

Look, I am not interested in entertaining an open a discussion here on my issues with Catek. As has been illustrated above I did my venting in a thread that was germain to the topic at the time.

This was a thread started by Jeff which means he will be receiving notification of posts made here. I believe enough time and energy have already been expended so lets drop this.

Are you reading some other thread? I only read a few posts regarding product failure and wondering when Jeff was going to get around to responding to his mail. Seeing as the opening post was Jeff promising to get right on it as of the beginning of July, I don't see people complaining that it isn't happening as of the end of August any big deal.

ETA this was in response to a diatribe posted by sweetsooziep which she has since deleted.

I thought all things considering people were being pretty supportive. It's jeff who said he'll be addressing issues LIFO and that if you wanted to get to the top of the queue just shoot another e-mail.

So people are following his instructions and are still not getting any support. How are they supposed to feel? Why can't they express their feelings in this thread?

Well, almost a year later, Catek apparently still has some communication issues. I don't think I am the only one sitting and posting here after many, many e-mails sent to Catek by any of the available e-mails out there without any response.

Jeff, if you are still out there, please give us clue what is going on with Catek :biggthump.

I gave up on Catek after literally over a year of e-mails, faxes, phone messages, and even standard mail!

I drafted up the parts I needed and built my own set of FR2's with the help of a local machine shop.

by now, perhaps enough bol members have been defrauded that an action can be taken in Rhode Island through an Atty General's office? here in MD it'd be consumer affairs division, i think.

i know some take the position that any company that produces alpine stuff should get the benefit of multiple doubts, but i'd guess they aren't the one's who have lost $. btw, i haven't and love Catek stuff. but wrong is wrong.

I don't know if bomber can get into legal trouble for this sort of thing but: a sticky, with links to this and other CATEK threads warning people about the history of incomplete orders and ignored correspondence when dealing with CATEK directly seems like it could go a long way to preventing further headaches.

You can't be liable for slander if what you're saying is the truth.

I'm genuinely curious what has happened to Jeff, I hope he's OK.

I've been trying to stay out of this for 2 years, but can't any longer.

I was a Catek customer (3 pair of OS1's) and Very Happy with their product (as I'm sure I would be with Bombers). I chose them when starting because of their infinite angle adjustability.

Catek, what was once a Very Good company to deal with (quality product, good service, courteous & prompt reply's and shipping) has pushed their customers too far.

When Jeff came here and posted, he was "personally going to get Catek going again", everyone was as understanding as possible and willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Unfortunately it seems nothing positive is happening @ Catek and their is no response from Jeff (or anyone representing Catek) that would indicate anything positive in the future.

I do not know of his misfortunes (nor is it any of my business) but plenty of time has passed to have rectified the negative situations that were created.

What I do not understand is, why can't Catek just 'Man-Up' :confused:

In reality, I guess they already have, because I truly believe Actions Speak Louder Than Words, Don't Tell Me, "SHOW ME" !

How about contacting the Web host service they are using informing them the web site they are hosting is collecting money but not sending goods to customers? At least they might be able to take it off, contact the owner or block the site.

This way people wouldn't get stuck ordering and never getting their goods. Not everyone (I know they should) come on bomber for information and are aware of the problems with Catek.

You could fill out Googles "Web Forgery" report. If it's successfully added to the black list the site would be blocked from both FireFox and Chrome users.

Seems like the CATEK site is certainly taking CC orders (and my money), but nobody is home. No product, no response, nothing. So, looks like they are done then? Still taking peoples money though. Not sure what to do. Wait for CATEK to re-appear, or file a fraud case with the bank. I'd hate to think CATEK is done with though.

Someone sued them when their binding released! It sounds like he was an ok guy that got bad advice from a greedy lawyer, Jeff could receive similar bad advice. I wouldn't touch this with a 10' pole.

If Catek is really accepting $$ with no intention of doing anything, that's really bad. A judge would throw the book at them. Shame, their product was cool. We don't know the back story, but they need to stop taking orders NOW if they can't deliver.

No need to file anything, just contact your credit card company once the charge has come through, then tell them (VISA or whomever) that the product was not delivered and to cancel the charge. It is very easy to do, I had to cancel a charge on a Concept II Rower ($550) and VISA took care of the rest.

Wasn't SWT involved in Catek in some way? anyone tried contacting him?

If you mean Scott - yes, I tried. Through Catek website, by replying to old emails from him and trough BOL. All with no answer.

Luckily, I did not sent big $$$. I was just asking for spare parts. I really hope there's a resolution to this situation. Fin already started providing us with replacement for the so-prone-to-stripping screws for Catek :ices_ange...
