  1. a) m b) 5’8” c) 32” ?? d) 21” - centered on reference e) 66/69 f) 1cm lift on front toe, otherwise flat and as close to the deck as possible, virus powerlocks. g) boots: UPZ RC-10 walk/ride replaced with permanent springs. lots of forward cuff on rear, none on front, black / medium springs, stiff grey tongues. fintecs. I’m rather bow-legged, so lots of outward cuff-canting on the boots (none on the bindings). Sorry about the imperial units—they’re what I’m familiar with. i have a pow deck that I ride with low angles but my stance is not at all sorted on that. I use the soft red tongues for that.
  2. excellent! I’ll be there
  3. where are people planning to ride tomorrow? I’m resting / acclimating today, will start riding tomorrow.
  4. Its looking likely that I will be in Aspen from Feb 9 - 18. I'm gonna buy a 7-day pass, so riding between the 10th and 17th. First time back in Aspen in a long time! Last year I did not ride at all, previous year just one week at Kirkwood. Not super confirmed, but I booked a place downtown. It would be a joy to see y'all while I'm there . I'm old now but I think I can still snowboard/whine about conditions with the best of 'em. Comically: what a rude awakening it is to discover what Aspen lift tix cost at the counter! I was like "how bad could it be???". MY LORD. I lament my innocent youth, purchasing incredibly affordable Aspen lift tickets from bomber during SES! "Hey Kid! Try this—first ones free!"
  5. Thanks ! I was under suspicion that this is the way to look at this; I appreciate the confirmation. My plans are not totally solidified but I’ll likely be there when y’all are :D.
  6. I'm so sorry to hear of this Ladia, I knew you had been battling health woes for some time but I had no idea how serious. I hope a bit of luck comes your way, and hastens you to a strong recovery. Every healthy day is a fortune; thanks for the reminder to complain a little less and be grateful.
  7. Is there any evidence of Aspen Ski Co correcting this unfortunate development in the grooming quality? I have been thinking about taking a week or two off to ride in Aspen this winter, but I'm not willing to pay Aspen prices if the trend suggests the grooming will look like this . Say it ain't so!
  8. Thanks for the kind words friend! This is a true compliment, coming from a man who travels with a steamer trunk brimming with onesies for any occasion!
  9. Haha — well, there was some waiting involved to get a clear shot. I won't go down if there are people around. Nonetheless: a sparsely populated day to be sure. That board is another 183 that I bought from Frank before last season, similar but slightly fancier "electron pro" version: https://www.instagram.com/p/B9pD7wgI30b/ I love it.
  10. Haha — well, "hell is other people" so I only ride on weekdays now . This was a (Friday?) morning after a few weeks of no-new-snow.
  11. That would have been awesome! (and you'd definitely be stealing the show!!) That guy was great — I wonder if he is still there? I'm thinking about seeing if I can take a month off this winter just to ride.
  12. A good buddy of mine took a bunch of flyby videos on a particularly good february morning last year and I only just now got to stitching it into a (very short) little video. A good freeze-thaw morning without a soul in sight. Kirkwood CA, mostly "upper" Zachary. Winters are getting shorter every year. Time to make the most of what's left.
  13. I’m gonna be at Kirkwood all next week with a bunch of friends, not sure whether or not I will make it out to Heavenly during that time but if I can make it over for a day I will . (we’re all coming up in just the one car, so transport is a bit tricky).
  14. Duuuude!!! Love these! So rad! Functional, simple, effective, capable!! Also: yes. We are all classics now !!
  15. I am not sure what I am doing this season. No passes for me tho. I have a week booked at kirkwood in february, thinkin' on MCC and possibly an aspen trip. New car not as good in snow with significantly less clearance, so MCC may be a no-go for me. Of the past several years I have been more of a "lets go here for a week" person than a "lets go on the weekends" person, so passes are less attractive, but where I can get deals on a week I will go for it (which sometimes means getting a pass). Last year I spent a week at montucky, a week in tahoe, and a week in oregon. This year lets see.
  16. I have so much to catch up on in this thread. I just bought a 2004 R32 with only 50k on the odometer. Bone stock ... for now. Gonna sell my forester on BAT as it has become a royal PITA to get past smog every two years here in CA. Too bad because It's a capable, and reiliable beast. That said, the new r32 is a lot of fun, though severely underpowered. Can't beat that exhaust note. I've never been a Mazda person but my god have I always loved these. The most beautiful body styling of any modern car ever, bar none. Gorgeous cars. Sexy!!!
  17. What a absolutely rad as hell adventure!!! Thanks for sharing!!
  18. Posting it twice doesn’t make it any funnier, or less racist.
  19. @eardragger also has a Ride Timeless that he is fond of, I believe.
  20. It would be clever to order a board with custom topsheet graphics, and include a little statement near the bindings (since one tends to go through the bindings with a cable lock) to the effect of “Custom board and topsheet. Steal it, and you will be caught.” It may or may not work as a preventative defense, but if it is stolen it’ll still be easy to find by sending photos to pawnshops and searching ebay.
  21. I had an A-frame for awhile. It wasn’t all that great IMO.
  22. I don’t think anyone is arguing that laws and rules prevent poor judgement. Well designed laws and regulations can substantially assist our ability to remove those with poor judgement from the roads before their behavior precipitates needless harm, and I am very much in favor of that. Preventing needless harm, and promoting the well being of the general population above an individual’s right to behave selfishly and harmfully is how we advance as a society. There is a worthwhile cost levied upon everyone’s freedom associated with that. In any functioning society: an individual’s freedom to do whatever they please doesn’t supersede the general populations right to live free from harm. This is why we have laws.
  23. Jesus does that suck. Texting and driving is a goddamn epidemic of the worst kind. It should be treated like a DUI, regardless of whether there was a fatality, or you were just caught doing it at a stop light. That is the only way to fix this; people are just entirely too selfish, screen-addicted, and overconfident.
  24. Wow, so: the plaintiff is totally screwed because the defendant has no money. That’s horrifying. Yikes!
