  1. It's like the fabric has been ripped out of reality. You can't race on snowboards thinner than 16.1 mm because they have an unfair advantage and always win. Hence, they were disqualified. There's no "Downhill" in snowboarding because both feet "hips" are engaged, with ski's the hips can absorb irregular ground, with a snowboard, irregular ground sends the rider airborne, it's to dangerous, luckily, until now, common sense has stopped airborn carnage.

He's lucky he wasn't in NH, that's some kind of bs going on somewhere there. Last winter we were really busy and the county started getting to that level where they talked about recouping the costs," Meyer says. In New Hampshire, officials are already doing just that. A decade-old law charging people for the costs of their rescue if the behavior that got them into the mess was deemed "reckless" was rewritten this past summer, lowering the bar so that merely "negligent" behavior could saddle you with a bill.
  3. So, the SG is an F2 with the bolt on the bottom and the semi t- nut on top, didn't Virus sell their version for more than F2 also.
  4. Got the Apex V2, fast shipping, easy installation, it's in great shape, thanx
  5. Titanflex bindings are inheritly adjustable to be stiff or very soft, I use intec and the front toe bail can be very loose or very tight, and the binding has pads under toe and heel to make it similar to the feel of sidewinders.
  6. All kidding aside, I'm going to listen to Goeff, and Jack and Steph and the Stratton crew, all excellent ice riders, Goeff rides 1-3, OK with me. All of them race Nastar and have low handicaps on what are usually icy courses, this is a question related to hard icy conditions, not dissing soft or deep snow riders, but there's a difference. BTW, PSR, What's your Nastar Handicap? Mines 7 Got a 17=7 at Okemo the day Scott Maynard got a ?14.7= 4.7, Meeting Scott was a pleasure, I see he's racing again after a debilitating accident, good for him. He's #56, the year I met him he won the finals, biggly. 7. So, all bicycles can be raced, but a racing bicycle wastes less energy, it's got steeper angles on the downtube and the fork, it weighs less. All snowboards can be raced, but the winning board is going to take more of the riders energy and make cleaner lines, it's going to lose less energy. Kessler came up with a formula that all others followed, tighter turning tip, less tight mid and even less tail, added rocker and made the tail less wide than the tip, used titanal, rubber damping and won everything. When he was still handmaking boards, he built them for the riders weight and ability. If you have enough room a kessler will finish a turn, for example, rcently there was a sigi video freecarving, I bet he was on a plated 185, on a wideeee trail and his board was coming around beautifully, no it wasn't a Kessler, but very similar.
  8. So, i redact my recommendation for tunes at Black Bear Sports, dropped off a schtubby, asked for a grind wax and sharpen, picked it up, as I watched it was hand sharpened in two minutes then a 1/4" of wax was ironed on, it was my understanding that he had a Wintersteiger, he doesn't, I went home, scraped off the wax and took the board to the Boot Pro, bottom of the Okemo access road where they have excellent tech's and give you an excellent grind, wax and sharpen. Lied to by Black Bear Sports, very unprofessional.
  9. I'll take the apex v2 plate with the upm mount, whats your paypal or how do I pay , thanks
  10. Look at your hands in tha video, sitting or standing do that with your hands, now turn your hands down, feel your shoulders close, hands up, shoulders open, hands down, shoulders closed, and a lower center of gravity, carry your hands like a gun slinger.
  11. Good point, carving can only be done with hard snow, in up to 12" +- of fresh powder, and when it warms, sorrow sets in. The same golf swing works in sand and water;)
  12. Trenching is like the golf swing, you use the same swing for every club. You make the same turn for all conditions, well, if you know how to swing a golf club, and if you know how to carve a snowboard.
  13. Okemo is a zoo Sunday mornings, and it also offers a Sunday afternoon deal, same price, starts at 12:30, an awful lot of people leave after the morning to get home, and the afternoon is much less crowded, a touch of local's knowledge. The boot pro at the bottom of the access road has a wintersteiger and great techs if you need a grind. @Pat, set the course for the conditions, if it's boilerplate, less turns, more across the hill, more fun, not a downhill, nobody gets hurt, just not a course no one enjoys. Use your space for one course instead of cramming two into a course that's really only got room for one....on boilerplate days. More free carving, getting your body closer to the ground and the board more verticle, if you can't do it out of the course, there's no chance of doing it in the course.
  14. Ha, a wide open empty slope and the rider should stay on the edge, might as well put on skis and make amaller turns. My favorite trail here in the NE is lower standard at Stratton, and I usually use every inch. Now I remember why I ride alone;)
  15. Was this at ECES at stow?
  16. The first picture is a really wide slope and you're only using 1/4 of it, why not use the whole slope, total control of speed, a chance to turn uphill, you can always make small cuts on thin trails but gosh, use the terrain. Yea, you need speed to careen the whole slope, or you can make some turns slowly, more variation, oh, time for a mid 170's used board!
  17. So Frank is steering you to a 168-173 board, if you want something exciting, try an executor, 203cm, custom built for your weight and ability, and deal directly with Frank, if you buy it in the states you'll pay a 40% premium to the dealer you buy from, if you deal with Frank you just pay shipping. Any speed you want, any turn shape you want, pop, ha. He has 190cm boards, and 180cm boards, been there done that, the 203 is much more fun, and hooking up a virus is worth every penny. When I had a 181 I wanted a 191, it was more fun, then I learned he made a 203, its even more fun. 5-6" of camber, pop. Or in the interim, grab a used Kessler 171-185, a race board, steady, solid, get used to a longer board, then grab an executor....
  18. Talent rises to the top, always, haters always sink to the bottom.... So psyched for Jasey Jay, great guy, deserves the accolades for the hard work to get back on top, he retired, started a successful company and then trained for world class competition. He's a member, heck, he attended one of the ECES at Stratton, made turns with anyone, a true gentleman.
  19. This thread has Trailertrash (John) riding and another video of a soft outer with poles;) ;)
  20. With rocker, the effective edge is large, I'm good with a plate that gives me 22++" between my feet, it does nothing in front or behind my feet, my apex is short and I'm cheating my feet over the pivots a bit for a wider stance. Madd started with a stiffened X that gave a bit of grip for the bindings, virus with its raised binding area on the gladiator was another step, but both were simply risers, these plates that allow board to bend independent of the bindings are great. The next step, magnets and oil, no hard connection, limits for travel, speed dependent, ultra lite weight, aka George Jetson.
  21. Set your binding and boots up exactly like his and see how you ride, put yourself in his shoes, if it's not setup? Hold him on his front edge pointed across the hill and let him go, let him feel the edge, let him just go until he's turned uphill and stopped, might take a few tries.
  22. Wait, espy, yyz commenting and bobdea making sense, " if you ride in walk mode you should be in soft boots", golden. yyz nailed it, walk mode is for walking, the boots were not made to be ridden in walk mode, the imposer?... also agreed.
  23. I've got many coats that extend buying my bum, they all have a fastener at the bottom, a draw string, I tie it above my hips, freedom of movement, warmth, and no worries, but I prefer just an outer layer, not a insulated jacket, I like to layer no matter the temp, the outer layer is wind and water proof and breathes.
  24. DGSS is walk mode with restraint, great picture, look at the rear foot forward lean, on top of stacked F2 lifters, my guess is the "spring system" is some sort of locking device that pushes the boot cuff more forward, no spring. Love to see her angulation on a rear turn, yea, that's a front turn but not a cranker.
