Skier sees the boarder, her head rotates towards the boarder and then she tries to avoid the collision. Her last turn away from the pending collision is more aggressive than the previous turns.
OR is unaware of his own closing velocity.
If the pictures show your stance position then you might be able to drill thru the riser plate and spread out the mounting screws assuming you have more than four inserts front & back.
Overthinking - maybe not.

"nobody there"
Hope nothing serious comes out of this for you but I would talk to SkiCo about it. Knock somebody down then split is BS! I remember last year on Ridge Run the racers blowing down the hill from behind with no regard for the mere mortals on the run.
Last week at Indianhead [Buttermilk East] I saw a skier out of the corner of my eye for three consecutive turns after making turns to get away from the guy after the first sighting. I finally pulled off to the side and the guy stops and tells me he was following me turn for turn and that when he carves like that he always looks uphill. I told him "no shit...I saw you and that's why I pulled over because you wouldn't shake off." There's about 50 people on the entire hill and this dense head is 30 feet behind me turn for turn.
Vertical drop is one thing and pitch [steepness] is another.
Pine Knob/Mt. Holly are 180ft drops...chairlift off ramps for some but as big as it gets near Detroit. [from the Ambassador off ramp - 1 hr]
Boyne Mountain is steeper than Boyne Highlands but neither have much runout so the pitches end abruptly for the most part. [4.5 hrs]
Searchmont is my preferred location but can't get there due to the wuhan virus. [6 hrs]
@lowrider might be able to fill you in on Blue Mountain or Mount St. Louis both north of Toronto. You could jump across the Ambassador Bridge drive up I-94 to the Blue Water bridge and back into Sarnia and then head up from there but the borders closed. [6 hrs]
Your closest vertical of 1000' is Bristol Mountain at 1200' which has narrow steep often icy runs but you need to cross thru Niagara so that's out as well. [6.5 hrs]
Welcome to flatland!
Work backward from the defect - Buckle pops open but but does not break.
Why: Loss of latch tension.
Why: Ends moving together allowing buckle to release.
Why: Boot deforming during forward pivot.
Why: Either forward lean springs too soft and boot deforms at end of travel OR forward lean springs are ok but initial lean pivot position too far forward forcing boot to deform at end of pivot to accommodate additional forward lean.
Custom foot beds will most likely shorten your foot as they support your arch so get them before molding the liner. I think they are crucial to comfort.
If you have already pressed the center plate down into the rubber ring before trying the bolts the stack up is too tall for the fasteners you have. I have multiple sets. Some center disks are thicker than others but all need to pressed into the ring. Set the bindings on the board and use a rod to gage down to the bottom of the insert hole to quickly determine the max length of bolt. You’ll need to go shorter to compensate for the compressed profile when the bolts are tightened.
I wouldn’t ride without the ring.
