  1. Riding goofy behind a boat setup for regular...2nd time out.
  2. Paddle boards...check Wake boards...check Standup...almost there, waiting on hydroturf from LA! In the mean time...ready to go!
  3. Sounds good...I’ll try it if the ever open the US/Canada border.
  4. Never raced dingy class but stole the idea from racing on big boats. I got tired of grabbing the main sheet from along the boom to pull the sail to windward.
  5. They constrain the boom to a smaller range of motion...very useful when pinching tight upwind without loss of downwind control. On the big lake (Erie) I prefer to sail out South close-hauled in a SW prevailing and return North on a broad reach and make good If need be on a beam reach. Similar to lapping a run.
  6. Yet to be installed. Both are rescue boats. Yellow had a soft deck and the white had deck & hull damage with a loose mast step. Neither will win a beauty contest but in a fresh breeze with a 60 mile fetch they rip!
  7. Itching to take out the twins but they are on the wrong side of the border.
  8. Midweek in Aspen the week of Montucky I woke up to yet again more fresh snow. Rode one of the first chairs up to the top of Snowmass to make the third track down Sneaky’s thru 4”-6” of powder over groom. Lapped the run 4 more times until the crowd chocked up the pitch.
  9. Rightly so...Michigan is a hot spot and Ontario is tracking right along on a per capita basis because even though Ontario is geographically immense it has concentrated populations along the Great Lakes. It’s going to spike everywhere. The question is whether or not there is going to be the same pitch on the way up and down everywhere. The curve (above) is the people/1000 affected not the raw count of cases.
  10. Do you believe the numbers reported by the US government? If I had to choose between the two I'd go with the US government. Confirmed counts rise as completed test counts rise...go figure! Normalized data tells the story. Dr. Birx explains it clearly.
  11. Searchmont at 5.5 hrs is the closet spot over 700’ so that skews my feedback. The prominent feature is a geologic bench that spans the entire resort. A mixture of both concave and convex pitches with multiple crossovers. Feels bigger than it is. Typical Midwest groom/ice but enough lake effect to maintain a natural snow surface. It appears that they do not till the surface very deep because the heavily skied runs are not smooth enough to carve across at any reasonable speed. I spend a lot of time on the “Main”. It could use a little more pitch... If you are passing by thru the Soo it is only 26 miles out of town and definitely worth a stop. Data from last weekend.
  12. Got an email from aspensnowmass today regarding “a number of presumptive positive tests of” the wuhan coronavirus “COVID-19 in Aspen in the past 36 hours.” My son, who works in Seattle, was told today to work from home starting tomorrow and expect to do so for the next 5-6 weeks. With WebEx, Skype, VPN, etc. there is probably going to be a paradigm shift moving forward long after this hysteria is over for a lot of computer jockeys. I hope to be one of them!
  13. Second day groom after 10" of lake effect. Something wrong with this picture!?
  14. Looking for 12 orange bumpers.
  15. Bought the book for $6 on Amazon, started reading it AND bought it again for my son who skies.
  16. UVEX - model CRAXX OTG yellow tint goggles. No peripheral vision restrictions. I wear prescription polarized sunglasses under them on sunny days and clear vision glasses under them on cloudy, flat light.
  17. Spent 6 days in Aspen and split my time 60/40 between my SF and my Superconductor. Rode the SF in on and thru 6” - 8” powder piles all over Snowmass and groomed runs there and at Buttermilk. It turns on a dime and runs out as long as you want to hang. This past weekend I tried it with gecko plates yet again ...forget about it. Totally throttles the board. Keep in mind I have always preferred a GS board so I do not have an SL board to compare it against. But if I could only have one....
