  1. See yall in the morning!
  2. Try everything you have time for/can afford. You will often receive good guidance on here, but you will rarely find a cut and dry answer that will fir your needs perfectly. Carving gear is so stiff and human anatomy varies a lot so its really going to come down to trial and error. Like others said, be mindful of your boot cuffs. UPZs also have a cuff canting feature at the cuff pivot points as well as the forward lean adjuster. Like Corey, it took me years to get my setup completely dialed in. Now its so perfect its not even something I have to think about anymore.
  3. 6 Degrees of heel lift is A LOT generally for UPZ due to the higher internal ramp the boots have. I would start by trading the 3 degree disc to the rear and the 6 degree to the front, only lift no cant. If that doesn't work then maybe try to track down other cant discs.
  4. Still in prepublication, but it is being done https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-research-confirms-critical-role-of-masks-in-preventing-covid-19-infection/ Heres some really basic stuff about the different materials, maybe not as specific as you are looking for https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-mask/art-20485449
  5. Start here http://beckmannag.com/hardboot-snowboarding/hardboot-binding-configuration You'll probably want to acquire a 0 and another 3 degree canting disc for those TD2s. They are the same on TD3 so you can buy them new or find some used on here. Welcome to the long road of binding set up. Everyone's legs and ankles are unique so there is no basic setup that will work for all of us. Beckman has devised a pretty solid method of getting you set up where you need to be in a step-wise fashion.
  6. Couple of benders from MCC last year. Putting Mark's superconductor through some durability testing. #oneglove
  7. Just looking ahead I'm planning on Loveland for 1/3 and 1/17. I know its a ways out, but I'd like to see as many of you as possible.
  8. @Colozeus Your riding has improved a lot since we rode together last season (I think, might have been the year before). Keep it up. You could edit all your clips into one youtube video to make them easier to watch. Just my worthless two cents.
  9. @big mario might still have my old bombed out shells with the regular lean mech on them.
  10. Can we diverge these threads into one where we can just sit back and enjoy watching some pretty turns and a different thread where we can armchair-carve and bicker about how everyone else is doing it wrong?
  11. Just got stuck with the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine so we will see how that goes. Lately I've had two patients in their 90s which the virus barely affected and I've had some people in their 30s and 40s go down hard from it. Diabetes and hypertension are the biggest links I've seen with associated with increased severity. Luckily our county and hospital have been spared from being inundated with super sick patients. A relatively healthy populace really helps. People seem to be minding their pints and quarts on the ski hill and in the lift lines so hopefully we can have a full season ahead of us. The healthcare workers down in Denver I know have not been so lucky.
  12. I was able to switch instagram info with one of them before I had to leave so we are going to meet up again soon. I'll direct them here also. They were super stoked on my alpine setup (also a Donek that day so that helped) but the conversation followed the usual- "well I have everything you need x 5, except boots!" I swear if I had shells in a few different sizes I could gt so many more people on plates. As is the struggle.
  13. Was at Vail on Monday and met three young lifties that were new self-directed softie-carvers and STOKED about it. Two of them were on brand new Donek Inclines and one was on his dad's old winterstick. Even though their total days on snow only numbered in the teens they were doing quite well. They were eager to learn and ate up a few tips I could give them before I had to leave. All they had on their minds was having fun and ripping turns. They weren't even bickering over the merits of race technique vs the "various bomber variants" (pinky high in the air here) It was refreshing!
  14. Would go super well with the bluetooth boomboxes playing every song I don't want to hear.
  15. I rarely use my larges so I can loan them out for a few weeks if we meet up at loveland
  16. Their website seems sparse on specs. How wide is the new 165?
  17. You can but it probably makes more sense to just find a used pair. You have to replace the toe and heel blocks, but you still use the same hardware to mount them. Donek (only has sm/lg) and yyz sell the blocks, but you would be in over $120 just for the blocks then you would have a bunch of random parts left over that wouldn't do you much good. What size bindings do you use? Boot brand and size? I've got a set of large bails and just snagged some medium bails off here. I'd be glad to bring them to Loveland when the time comes and you can take them for a spin. The flex in the bails are much more uniform and loose than the intecs allowing for better micro adjustments over uneven terrain and out of position turns. I think they are easier on the joints too. You just lose some board feel/response and ALLLLLLLLLL that convenience though.
  18. Got some really good turns at Vail and BC this week, but jeez my fitness is atrocious. I'm belting out 4-5 freaking amazing turns then almost dying of a pulmonary hemorrhage. The early season "season pass holders only" rule at Vail has been really nice. It really exposes how short-sighted and problematic the average day ticket user is. Everyone is following predictable lines, not stopping in the middle of the run, and moving the lift line along appropriately. It feels like the damn twilight zone out there compared to the usual poop-show that is epic resorts. As soon as Lovey can figure out how to drop some more ropes I'm there.
  19. I feel you here. All my days have been solo this year and it's getting a little old, but lonely days are better than no days. What's the point of slaying turn after turn if I can't rant to someone about how awesome I am and then reciprocate the sentiment?
  20. Who? Just kidding. Her gear was originally going to be part of the anti-grav device, but the ski-powers-that-be advised me not to store them using the "hung by the tips" method to preserve the factory camber/decamber. Her skis still got a nifty little slot rack to keep them from falling over.
  21. Are you telling me they are sending singles up solo on a quad?!?!?!?
  22. Everyone on here has inspired and shamed me into organizing the gear closet. A few bits of scrap wood later and all of a sudden it's my favorite room in the house.
  23. Thankfully! We've been working together for a few years trying to sort my ankle mobility issues (which the issues are starting to translate into my knee and hip). He is an avid snowboarder himself so he caught on quick. He was even willing to go as far as examining the gear and reviewing video. A+ fella
