  1. @bigwavedave this particular banana is stock-ish super conductor specs 175x19. The core is where we went if the rails. It is “a leap in a direction I have not gone in building a super conductor” according to Mark. The flex index is .349 (pretty freakin stiff apparently) and adjusted the flex pattern for extra bananas. Will definitely elaborate on that further once I’ve ridden it. It looks ripe but I don’t think it would taste very good.
  2. Oh boy, it’s my turn finally. I present the Thirst Super Manana. I asked Mark for something special, and by special I mean something scary, fast, and banana. He came up with a special core and flex pattern to cater to the forces and abuse that some of the more generously sized gorillas can dish out. The core is THICCC further out to the edges and the by hand flex test has me very very excited. No all mountain action for the this thick banana, only hardcore left and right action. Need less snow to begin testing. Friday…..
  3. I’ve had three sets do that. It does not effect the ride or safety at all since that ring bears no load. The only important part of that ring is the part that goes between the block and the aluminum plate. That section should be inspected for cracks and replaced as necessary.
  4. Something tells me you’re just looking for an excuse to get another board! Stop questioning yourself and just throw your money into the snowboarding economy. Or just turn your rev harder.
  5. Soft boots on GS board. Please and thank you.
  6. I got 3 days on them this week to work out the kinks, and oh have the kinks been worked out. Increased rear heel lift, decreased front toe lift to compensate for the difference in heel ramp. Yeah these boots are the truth. Love them. I didn't get any yellow springs. Only red (stiff) and blue (soft). Using red on front and blue in rear with preload. Before they were tuned in I definitely felt like I was fighting the boots and board. Now they are in the sweet spot and I'm back to riding through my feet. Love the flex of the 100s. Very modifiable I could definitely push the WC but I don't see the point in stiffer boots for my situation. I've gotten over the loss of stepins. I was running my bails way too loose at first so I tightened them up real nice and now they ride like a dream. Puttin down the power now. No drama, no slop. Whether or not they are worth the price difference is going to be very personal. For me it is definitely worth it. Everything else is starting to hurt so why would I want my feet to join that party? They are also super easy to tune which is a big plus. @yamifumiwho is the contact for spare parts?
  7. Y'all are talking about a lot of things that aren't hot, new, and juicy snowboards. SHOW ME THE BOARDS. My therapist thinks I have an issue with porn addiction, but I keep telling her the problem is y'all are on here talking about heel pockets and slarving instead of posting the goods.
  8. Got my boots in record time, Thanks Ivan! Would definitely recommend if he sells something you want. Ended up going with the C Shell Standard 100 flex boots. I am happy with the flex. Ran through the blue springs and switched to red and happy with that. Using zipfit gara HV liners. Things I like: Fantastic boot shape, great fit right out of box. Only 1 pressure point on the big toe that should be easy to manage. The flex is very nice. They ride real nice. Everything is super easy to adjust and customize. The buckles are nice and smooth. Easily the best walking boots. No more high-heel horse clopping to the lift. Things that are fine but will take some getting used to: the decreased heel ramp compared to UPZ. I am having to rework my stance again so that's some work. Things I really don't like: The color. God it's awful. Granted my jacket shell is yellow too and two different yellows make for a funny look. I really really don't like having to go back to bail bindings. Where I live in Stepandclickistan, we are used to things happening at a certain speed and ease. I have not won any olympic medals since switching over. Overall it's not even a question about staying with the MS boots. The fit and performance are fantastic. Question: whats up with the nubs on top of the tongue where the cable crosses the tongue? The placement seems odd and the little notch in the middle is begging for explanation. Notched to flex maybe?
  9. Yeah the conditions at Vail have suffered this past week or two. I can’t for the life of me figure out where all these people came from all of a sudden. It was a ghost town for weeks after the holidays. That ghost grooming has been a thing since they started doing terrain openings. I’m not upset about their strategy but they definitely need to be more up front about it. To get back on topic I’m hoping for some 2/20 lovey action.
  10. You are right Dave, my apologies. I've got ~100 days on Thirsts but only 3ish runs on Contras so my experience just based on the sidecut similarities is worth less than I thought initially. @KneelIt hasn't tried to kill me since those first few weeks when we were still working out our differences! I used to ride crazy front heavy so it was a bit of an adjustment.
  11. I’ve got a few spare. How bad do you want one? Make an offer!
  12. I really didn't like it at first, but after a few weeks on the Thirst sidecut I believe it will be my daily driver forever. At first it felt vague and like it was trying to kill me for the first few days. I feel as though the sidecut is very set up dependent and does not love the nose being loaded. Definitely keeping around some traditional sidecut boards because they are also very fun, but for what I like to do the Thirst sidecut is where it's at. Hands down the best steeps boards I've ever ridden. Super easy to control and shave speed by loading the nose or taking a back seat. No racing here, freecarve only. Jack, about the ice. We don't got it like you got it but when it does get icy out here my Thirst is by far the best ice board I own BECAUSE you don't have to yam on the front and get super low just to get it to grip. I do notice it requires more edge angle on ice but that's it.
  13. Correct. The Thirst sidecut tolerates some fore/aft but it is largely unnecessary and the board doesn't really respond positively to it. Pressure dead between the feet all the time. The full effective edge only engages in super deep turns as far as I can tell. IMO it's vastly superior for all mountain and any sort of dynamic hardbooting for that reason. Turns are much more automatic and require less babysitting.
  14. Sounds great I’ll mark it down! I actually had a sublime time at Vail yesterday. Empty slopes and 9.5/10 carving snow. Can’t really go wrong with either. We can see how it shakes out. Vail has been really manageable this year. Not sure where those 50% more people that bought epic passes are. They don’t seem to be here.
  15. Feb 28 or March 1 would work great. Could do that weekend too but I’m not a big crowds guy. I’d love to show you around. Beav is better for really getting after it and Vail is a little more casual IMO. BC has more good groomed steeps like OJ mentioned. Vail holds softer snow better but also holds more people.
  16. Maaaaaaan that looks super fun. Who are orange coat oven mitts and blue coat orange helmet? Very nice riding everybody! Lots of great riders.
  17. One big family of middle aged men!
  18. Thanks for the info man. I’ve been on rc10s for a few seasons with the medium black tongue and plastic cut for flex. After riding this morning I really don’t think I want to be on anything stiffer. I’m going to get the 100s and mod stiffer if necessary. Will report back.
  19. Did you ride your upz with gray tongues and rcr cuffs? I’m not getting them from Bola so I won’t have an easy way to try on both unfortunately. I know I weigh enough for the 120s I just hope they would fit my riding style. I feel like either one would likely do the trick. Just trying to gather data
  20. Hahaha that’s funny. Yeah when we moved from Summit to Eagle county we were like “oh yeah old people exist, that’s right”. Tons of crazy rich old people over here. I personally find the weather much more favorable year round over here but the riding season is definitely shorter and a basin is an hour away.
  21. Thanks for the tips guys. I’m going to follow suit with BWD and get the ST 100 version. I’ve never wanted anything stiffer than my rc10s so I think that will be the ticket. @b.free you think that’ll be good? Im about 30lbs lighter than you but I feel like we ride with similar intensity.
  22. That post was a rollercoaster. Glad it was good. I tried to take some first chair runs on lower vail yesterday morning and called it after two runs due to iffy groom, lack of legs, and having to ride a board I didn’t want to be on. Did you yell at this person? Did it make you feel better?
  23. never mind I used my own two eyes to read the other posts to answer my questions. However what size f2 bindings would one use for the c shell? thank you!
  24. Mmmmm boot beer. @big mario isn’t big on hoppiness but I hear he can’t resist the natural funk of decade-old thermoliners.
