  1. I'm 6'4" and pushing 250 on a good day. I'll echo what most are saying - find good boots. Happy feet make for a happy rider. The other stuff is easy to track down and your current board will work. Some of the older Burton plate bindings (are they all older now?) have a reputation for breaking under stress - having said that I rode them for years without any problem. Bomber TD3's are the bees knees and will support a rider twice your size. Start shopping the for sale ads now and be patient. It will come together!
  2. I've had it take 6 weeks to go from US to Wellington, NZ. Fast gets expensive quick.
  3. Regular or Goofy? Inquiring minds want to know.
  4. Fed-Ex dropped off the Metal Ax this morning. Outstanding board and deal. Teach is legit. His other board is surely worth every penny to the right rider. Bump for a good deal!
  5. Bring your goggles to try on lids too. They don't all play together well.
  6. If you won't do your own tuning this is the only way to get it done the way you want. Few shops have techs who know anything about our small world. Most are paid little, do it for the discount on gear, and could give a crap about some weird board they've never seen before. In many shops the low man gets to do most of the tunes - it's repetitive, noisy, dirty, and hard work to crank out tunes for the masses. Oh - and most of the stuff brought in is in terrible shape so lots of work up front peeling layers of rust, etc. For recreational use I prefer 1/2 degree base and 1 degree side bevel, do it myself, and don't detune for most boards. I've noticed the edge doesn't last as long the further from 90 degrees that edge gets - most of my riding is on Midwestern ice. When I raced I had a tech I paid on the side and the edges were always sharp enough to shave with (no exaggeration) - he wasn't afraid of a lot of edge bevel and the tune needed to last only a few runs.
  7. I find it quite goofy that with all the photos I don't see one with a Wunder bar. Does seller even know what that is? There's more to this being goofy than the stance. Sure would love to see photo of the specs/SN.
  8. Be sure to use a slower cure epoxy - this tends to be more flexible and hold better in use.
  9. Get yourself a BTS. Best improvement in my riding for the $$. Made my 700's into twice the boot. $ .02
  10. The back of the boot says "EU 11" so I'm thinking it's a 28. Nice setup for someone local.
  11. I sold him some boots and bindings a few years ago. He seemed like a first class operation then. Now I know he was. Another tragic loss to humanity. Damn cancer. I hope he's found the mountains in heaven. 'Bruin
  12. +1 Too damn cold much of the time for gloves where I ride.
  13. "Quinn, meanwhile, addressed the deal involving the Talisker side and Vail Resorts, saying it is, effectively, a sale. It has a 50-year term with six 50-year renewals, lasting 350 years with each of the renewals." Tell me a 350 year lease isn't a de-facto sale. This whole thing smells.....Nobody wins this one except the lawyers.
  14. When I raced I would - the boots were so stiff I could freeride unbuckled and often did so. I don't go that tight anymore and my boots (700s) are softer.
  15. I agree it's hard to beat morning cord in the midwest. I wish I could get over there more often.
  16. Stiffness. I agree that my "factory" flexes like a 4X4 . My production FP's are downright flimsy in comparison. YMMV.
  17. Very jealous. I'll be there on Friday (I hope).
  18. I seem to get kicked out of page 2 of results from a "New Posts" search too. Has happened a couple of times to me today. Not sure if it's related or not, but very annoying nonetheless.
  19. Which hill? I bet we can arrange something local...
  20. I get there a few times a season. It's the closest hill, but has it's limitations. Thinking about a season pass for next season - it will force me to make the drive more often if it doesn't cost me $100 each time.
