  1. http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?39839-Bruin-s-all-Burton-Factory-Prime-Sale-and-Plate It's just too small for my largeness these days. It is a fun, snappy board. Both boards are still available, as is the binding.
  2. Stepping outside the chalet with my ancient Burton Fusion (and TD3SI's) earlier this year a hill employee commented, "A race board". I said thanks, but it's not a race board. "Yes it is", he insisted. I said I have real race boards at home, but this wasn't one of them. When he insisted it was a race board one more time I walked away. I was most frustrated that he knew a bit but wasn't interested in learing just a bit more. I get not knowing when it's got a flat tail - but when it's rounded with kick and the owner tells you it's not it's probably time to believe him. I bet he felt really silly later when he saw me following my six year old down the hill on her skis and I wasn't even clipped in.
  3. I got the Yellow board today; super fast shipping (2 days) and easy-peasy to work with. Board is really nice and well worth the asking price. Blanz is legit and I would do it again. Thanks, Bruin'
  4. Duluth has many brewery choices. I am partial to Fitger's as a friend is the head brewer and I was a bartender there for a few years. Clyde Iron is good too. For a burger nothing anywhere can touch the Anchor Bar in Superior - my best friend is responsible for the Gallybuster (that's three 1/3 lb patties in a bun).
  5. Ramp angle - Is it really an issue with "modern" binings? I get to choose the orientation of each foot independently with my TD's (and BTS) so I'm not sure it matters like it used to.
  6. I'm coming over on Saturday. Because of the drive it won't be until around 11. I hope I can catch somebody.
  7. Yup. UPS (Z) made the MGX. I don't recall who made the Reactor but that was a much nicer boot than the MGX (and I've had both). Burton seemed to fit narrow feet pretty well, but those with flippers need not apply.
  8. If Alta was on private land there is no question that they get to make the rules. The issue is that Alta is on public land. Do they have a reasonable right to restrict access? I've always found the arguments for segregation underwhelming. If they want to use the purist argument they should enforce a leather boot, wood ski policy - with non-releasable bindings.
  9. I prefer the SVST guides: http://www.svst.com/categories3.aspx?Category=0f036d81-7847-495a-8842-45d2fb4fe3e2 They are a touch pricey but very accurate, and also durable and fit any files you want to use.
  10. I learned to ride on a new Burton M6 with three strap bindings - It just made sense to me. I was never a skier or softboot rider. By the end of the season I had Megaflex boots on my feet. I was the only carver at my local hill for many seasons and got lots of help from friends who were ski racers - my style is still very upright. Four pairs of boots and many boards later I stil ride.
  11. That channel down the middle of the top sheet reminds me of a board I have with the Marker name. It's from the era when K2 bought Marker's board manufacturing maybe 20 years ago? I wonder if the graphic was a promotion for something? The Marker is wide and soft - even by freestyle standards.
  12. I have the Skullcandy that allows my MP3 to be wired and my phone to BT. Worked great for one season. I had easily 8 hours standby so I could be on the slope and get calls from the ski patrol as needed (Insert comment here). I was able to voice dial, although it rarely called the right person; that is probably more an issue with my phone as I never use it otherwise. I was able to answer the phone easily and the conversations were clear both ways; rarely could they tell I was riding. I don't have any complaints about the music quality - It's MP3 so not exactly hi-fi anyway. It worked as advertised for an entire season, but the pass-through to allow the music stopped working. The BT still works fine. I should probably take it to an electronics repair shop to see where the connection went out.
  13. I should add that the "parts" were discs for magnesium clickers - hard to find at best. Oh and a binding too.
  14. It's part of being a responsible citizen. I screwed up a shipment last fall (a box broke open at the post office and lost irreplaceable Clicker binding parts ). I admitted it was my mistake and made it right even though it cost me money in the short-term. I rest easy knowing I've done all I can to be on the good side of things and have no doubt it will come back to me down the road.
  15. I have several Asym Burtons and they do have their place. They stopped making them a while ago so the tech is getting pretty old. They were good boards for the time. I still like the way the cut is differnt on toe/heel and the shift in cg required to ride agressively. I like my M6, but it's pretty soft for me (250 lb). If you can get one affordably priced they are a good way to get started. Dealers hated them - twice as many sku's for an already tiny market made them a rare item to see on the shelf at all, especially for us Goofy riders.
  16. Wow. I need to make the effort to get up there this winter.
  17. I've done 2, I94, and 200 across most of ND and all of MT. They each have pros and cons. 2 is really not a great place in NW North Dakota right now with all the truck traffic and fracking, 200 isn't any better. I actually prefer 200 in MT - it's more open and nearly zero traffic (pass a cop at 90 and they wave). I'm in Fargo if you want to stop. Lolo pass is good, so is Beartooth - I think 'trash should get going to AK if he wants to beat the weather. I lived in Homer for a while and haved ridden to AK for fun too. Bruin'
  18. My sister's kids are both redheads so I've heard about the power of the sun. Her kids instinctively cover up any time they are outside (unlike the American cousin). The 38 C was at almost 47 degrees North - this was a continental heat that includes opressive humidity.
  19. I've been following this thread as I have a sister in Wellington and the only chance I'll ever have to visit (due to my job) is during June and July. The good news is that she usually visits here in July with her family so her kids get to enjoy 2 summers (if you call it that in Wellington) every other year or so when she comes home. they were here a few weeks ago and got to enjoy 38 degrees for the first time in their lives! Keep the info coming. Bruin'
  20. As a sidecarist I can tell you that the rise of the chair on a properly set up rig is fairly predictable and consistent as long as your monkey is doing his job consistently. I fly the chair on the street bike ('84 Goldwing EML combo) frequently at speeds up to 75mph with no worries at all. It does get the rider's attention if they aren't used to it.
  21. Thank You all for posting of your late season adventures. I wish I lived close enough to drive over myself.
