Not sure of the Cottonwood canyons, but Sunday April 7th is the last day for UTA at PowMow.
  5. Carvin' Marvin, in your picture it looks as if you are putting a custom 'stone grind' on you new Thirst board.
  6. Man o man if I didn't already have 2 Nirvana's with almost the same specs I'd snag this up in a heartbeat. Great deal on an Awesome board!
  7. Unfortunately couldn't make it this year. Definitely planning on being there next year if you can make it happen again dredman. Sounds like too much of a Great time to miss.
  8. Got to ride the new 'stick Sunday. Love it! Still doing a bit of dial in on binding placement, but overall really stoked. This board hooks up like it's on rails, curved one though. Whether making G.S type turns or S.L. it is happy doing both. Very stable at speed and no noticeable chatter. Interesting since there is no metal for dampening. There is a layer of carbon weave on top and bottom. Maybe that is having the same effect. Super easy turn initiation just think about it and hang on. I'm impressed that for a short board that it likes to make big GS type high speed trenches. I am going to ride this board exclusively the rest of this season to learn more about it. I feel kind of bad that all my Coilers will have to collect dust, but not that bad with this new carving weapon from Winterstick. After not riding a 'stick since 1987 I'm happy to be back 'Sticking again! Thank you Rob Lu for making this 'stick for me. Specs. Length: 166 mm, Nose width: 271 mm Waist: 205 mm Tail width: 248 mm Effective edge: 155 mm Side cut: 9m - 10m - 11-m Construction: 22 oz triax glass, maple/poplar core, carbon fiber weave under top sheet and top of base,\ Ref stance: (3rd hole back) 19.5 Stance setback: 25 mm I highly recommend this company and their snowboards. Quality construction and attention to detail.
  9. pow4ever, no Snowbasin this year, the crowds are getting worse every year. And there is no fake snow at PowMow, plus over 8000 acres of FUN! We decided to go back to our original home mountain this season. kibber, if this storm is as big as they predict it will be Swallowtail time.
  10. Thanks Buell. Definitely was not expecting this. powdahbonz I will try my best to give a decent review after this Sunday riding it at PowMow. I am super psyched to ride this carving weapon from Winterstick! I worked for the original company in SLC in the late 70's early 80's. Went to Les Arcs in '81/'82 on the Winterstick team to introduce snow surfing to Europe.
  11. Thanks for posting the pictures Jack. That is my board. Thomas Fremont-Smith and my friend Troy Lindquist got together and collaborated on making it for me. I had no idea this was going to happen. I was talking with my friend about him getting into Alpine riding and thought that he was having a board made for himself. I'm super stoked to ride it, just got it yesterday from Troy. In the box on the board it says Winterstick #19178, Mick Thueson, Utah OG Race 166, Made in Maine USA. They used some of the specs from my Coiler 165 AMXT. Riding it Sunday at PowMow.
  12. PowMow is a blast to ride at. And the added bonus of a double Black Diamond road getting there. Been riding there since the late '70s.
  13. Welcome to the forum! Gear has really changed a lot. You will love the new stuff.
  14. Maybe a little far away from Draper, but you might want to look at riding a Powder Mountain, over 8,000 acres of Heaven!
  15. That Santa is Mark Winkelaar. He is the Winterstick Ambassador at Powder Mountain. Probably where the picture was taken. Killer rider, he rides plates on all of their boards.
  16. Second in line for the Rossi if Alize' doesn't take it. My wife is currently riding a Rossi World Cup 160 with an 18 waist.
  17. Nice trench bigwavedave. And Great looking board, have fun with it!
  18. Good to hear you made it out alive! Hope the storms predicted delivers. Not very excited to ride WROD.
  19. Be safe up there Vaughn. mick
