    PowMow

Oh My Heck, I get to try out another new board Sunday. New to me Jack Michaud's Winterstick Squaretail plus 170. 2 new boards in the same season, I don't know how to act!
  2. Welcome knightscape. I am sure you will be getting a ton of advice and other comments from members here. Welcome to 21st century carving.

    PowMow

The wife and I finally got to go riding today at PowMow. First time this season. We were both riding Coiler Contras, hers from last year mine from this year. Great first day, not a lot of people compared to all other days I have viewed the web cams. Blue skies no wind and real (not fake) snow. The entire mountain was open, and what a great time we had. The Contra is like riding a magic carpet! Looking forward to more fun days there.
  4. Yes they will. I have a set of TD 2 tops mounted on the same 3 degree cant disc's.
  5. Rossignol Undertaker 185. Great in powder and carves up groomers.
  6. When walking to/from the lodge or hanging out there I use Ski Tracks on my boots. No slipping at all and good traction. I also carry a spare pair of Fin Tecs in my gear bag just in case. As far as longevity of Intec heels I have no clue.
  7. Thank you for posting this dredman. One day I might be able to figure out how to post.
  8. I have a Rossignol Judge 168 if you are interested. In great shape,, I only rode it 6/8 times.
  9. That is quite the quiver you have there dredman.
  10. Bruce lists a prebuilt 166 Contra for $875.00 Canadian on the Coiler website. I bought my wife a prebuilt Contra last winter and she loves it. And cheaper than the one I custom ordered and will be delivered this Friday.
  11. Meant to say Indy pass not Ikon. Fixed it in my post.
  12. Here in Utah Snowbird is offering a Fast Track pass for $69.00 on top of the price of a regular pass, you can also add it onto a season pass daily, so people can snake to the front of lines ahead of everyone else. Glad I don't ride there. As far as I know they are the only resort so far to offer this in Utah. Pretty lame in my opinion though. It's bad enough that Powder Mountain is offering and accepting Indy passes to clog up the mountain even more. But what can you do, Progess I guess.
  13. Good to hear. Have a GREAT time making first turns of the season. I'm jealous since no resorts in Utah are open yet. Hiking is all that is available right now. Have fun!
  14. Deeluxe brand boots used to be Raichle brand boots. Some friends that ski used to use Raichle Flexon Comps. They look very similar to me. I have both Deeluxe and Raichle boots with stepin heels.
  15. What a GREAT deal, if I needed one I would snatch this up in a heartbeat. Someone is going to get a sweet deal.
  16. pow4ever have fun with your new board at MCC and AFC.
  17. Unfortunately no. I gave it to a skater friend name of Arnie Hoag who like me had the 'sticking fever. Passing on the stoke to get more people into surfing snow. Back then there were very few people even interested in it. When we would get to the road at the bottom of Cardiff Bowl at Alta people would look at us like we were aliens.
  18. I met Chris Gochnour the summer of 1975 at a 1/4 pipe in S.L.C. He worked for Winterstick making skateboard decks called Streetstick. He gave me a one page brochure about Wintersticks, I was immediately hooked on trying to learn how to surf snow if I could just get my hands on one of those boards. I had tried learning how to surf in California while awaiting my discharge papers after returning from Vietnam. I started calling the company weekly then 2/3 times a week to see if they had started production. Eventually I would go to the shop and just generally make myself a HUGE pain in the ass, I HAD to have one of those boards! Then in Jan. of 1976 Joel Bingham of Bingham Cyclery became an official Winterstick dealer in Utah. He had a 15 minute video of Dimitrije riding a Swallowtail. We just about wore that video out watching it so many times. Then in mid Feb. I got a phone call from Joel to come by the shop. It seems that Dimitrije had personally driven up from S.L.C to deliver board number 13, the first board to be sold to a customer, all of the other 12 had been sent out to prospective dealers. He told Joel to " sell this board to that a.....e that won't leave us alone and get him off our backs"! There is more to the story about just learning to ride 'sticks but it would take up too much space here. Also the board Regis Roland bought while we were at Les Arcs was my red Swallowtail that Renee Sessions sold to him, she was V.P. of Winterstick. So here I am now 46 years later this Feb. still surfing snow and just as stoked now as when I was harassing Winterstick to just sell me a damn board! Thanks for reading mick thueson Sorry for the thread hijack
  19. It's a long and complicated story. Dimitrije moved out to Utah from the East coast in the early 70's and worked at Snowbird before beginning the Winterstick company in Salt Lake City.
  20. Really nice carving with that weed eater!
  21. Great looking board Jack. I hope it rides well for you and that you enjoy it.. Are you going to take it to Montucky Clear Cut?
  22. I wouldn't recommend Utah. 10 or 20 or more years ago it was awesome here. But after the Winter Olympics in 2002 the word was out. Now everywhere at all of the resorts it's packed. And Epic and Ikon passes have made it even worse. Just my 2 cents with being a local here since 1974, moved here after returning from Vietnam. And began surfing "The Greatest Snow on Earth" in 1976.
