  1. I am writing my contrarian ideas as we speak... I am a huge huge fan of my 166 A/T Contra. This board is truly a quiver killer. It can do pow and groomers, I even did bumps and enjoyed myself (I'm not right in the head). It's forgiving and capable... but... As much as it's awesome, it lacks a certain level of excitement that I get from my NFCB. It's quiet, capable and PREDICTABLE. The NFCB can, at certain times, grab and TURN. To me it just feels that in good conditions it's just slightly more capable. Like a sports car that fells ever so slightly dangerous. If I don't know what the conditions are going to be like or if I want to cover all my bases I'll grab the Contra. If I know it's going to be good I sometimes gravitate to the NFCB.

    Winter park

8" of fluff on pretty hard crust. I got up first chair and enjoyed a couple of excellent runs before the hoards took over and wreaked it all (while hooting as though the crappy crud was the best thing ever). Coverage is still thin despite all the snow. WP really does need more terrain open. Oh yeah, starting this Saturday they are implementing a reservation system. Not necessarily a bad thing because it really does limit how many people are on the hill while it's fairly easy to get up here if you are a day tripper.
  4. I think the @bigwavedaveContra a/t should be a standard build that Bruce does. Only have a couple of runs on mine but it’s a quiver of one!

    Yo Lci!!

There, I fix for you . . . Has the basin been that bad lately?
  6. Deeluxe Track 700 27mp boots: $150 Boots are sold Intuition Plug Wrap Liners 27mp: $85 Liners are sold Together: $225 *Buyer pays shipping - price is what it is. Deeluxe Track 700 size 27 boots. Used for 2 seasons. The liners have never been ridden but have been molded once.
  7. Donek Saber 155 (8-11) $150 SOLD Stiff stiff board. Very fast and damp. Looks all kind and fuzzy but it's not. This is one very fast board that is not easy to ride but is very rewarding. The topsheet is chewed up a bit on but the base and edges are in fantastic shape. Has a nice structure too! Bindings are Salomon Quantum. $85 These have been used and abused. They're still just as stiff even though the cable that runs around it is not connected. I have a feeling that the cable is just for show anyway. The straps are in great condition and so are the highbacks. $225 together * buyer pays shipping - price is what it is. Unfortunately the dog is not for sale. I wish he was. However, he has decided to be abnormally cute (smarter than he looks) and therefore has been taken off the market.
  8. Over analyzing. This was fun to watch and probably fun to ride. I don't think they care about our analysis of their technique. I just wish I could carve half as well!
  9. Is he related to Colorado guy?
  10. Thanks! I have to get to Loveland first... Seems I don't want to get out of bed on Sunday mornings
  11. I have 27’s for boots so I usually rock larges. The flex is the main reason I want to try bails. I can bend just fine so I’m not too fussed about the convenience and after having the pull wire break once I don’t trust them as much...
  12. Title says it all. Looking to see how difficult it is to convert. I don't want to spend a ton of money since I just want to try them out as bail before comitting.

    Yo Lci!!

Roulette opens tomorrow.... But yes, this limited terrain is a total bummer.
  14. K2 makes some killer boards. The party platter is really well made and inexpensive. But honestly, just any used board will probably be enough for what you want.
  15. NSR is the type of board, not sure exactly what it is but NFCB is Nirvana Free Carve Balance and AMT is All Mountain. DH is the person he built it for.
  16. How I feel is immaterial. I’m not an expert so my opinion is also bunk but here’s what I think: Here in CO approximately 1 in 40 is considered contagious. You are virtually guaranteed to be in a line with a contagious person during the day. Both of you might be breathing hard so that’s another strike. OTOH: you’re outside, usually with wind. Hopefully all are wearing masks. Usually people don’t go skiing if they’re not feeling well so I expect the population to be somewhat less contagious than the average. What does all of this mean? Who knows... Ultimately no, it’s not safe. You are definitely increasing your chance of contracting COVID by going to a resort. You have to make the personal decision if snowboarding is important enough for you.
  17. I used to ride that board's spiritual predecessor (the Cobra) and have a Swift right now. Most NS boards ride fairly similar (with the East and the Big gun being outliers). They're superb for powder and tight trees. They also are very well made, damp and somewhat heavy. They can handle icy groomers but it's not what they're good at. There's a run in Copper that I cannot turn on without sliding out on my NS. My Alloy OTOH has no problems on it. All this to say that I like my NS boards BUT they do have some drawbacks. Mainly the sidecut is weird. It's short-wide-short meaning you get turning only when you engage the nose or the tail. It works for some but it makes for a very nervous board on groomers. Before you commit to buy I would recommend trying it out. Also try boards with a wide-short-wide sidecut (like Arbor or some Capita boards) because those seem to do much better on groomers. My Arbor Cosa Nostra has excellent float and can turn much more predictably. And speaking of new boards... Here's the Arbor (new for me this year) and the Swift... And I finally got the Contra on snow! Wow! I only did one run but oh my gosh, that thing feels amazing. Truly a cross between a HB and SB board. Can't wait to try it out on some better snow! Finally not a new board but definitely new (and destructive) for this year...

    Yo Lci!!

Proof! I was on snow (and HB no less) I only managed to get on the lift around 12:30 and by then the run was a moguly mess but I got the Contra out on the snow... me happy!

    Yo Lci!!

FWIW my wife, an epidemiologist, asked me not to go. As much as I love WROD season I think I'll give it a miss. Stay safe!
  20. There is a difference between mask types (see this article or the image below). All masks protect others, some masks protect the wearer better. All masks protect better than coughing into your elbow simply because you constantly shed vapor particles, coughing is not the only time when you could expose others.

    Yo Lci!!

Welp! I looked at the weather report, temp and wind, and said "I'm too fragile for this $hit". Postponed my outing for mid-week where hopefully there will be less people. Thank you for the report! Also, someone got you getting ready on camera (2:00 minute mark) so we have proof (and yes, conditions looked atrocious even for mid-November)

    Yo Lci!!

I think I'll take what I can get. With the cases spiking up so rapidly I think we might be in for another shutdown. I'm not sure if I'll do morning or afternoon or even if it's going to be Sunday or Saturday but I'm going up.
