  1. My daughter too. I think it's the staying at home part that got her. I can't even get to a shop to get her boots!

    Opening tomorrow (see picture)

    Yo Lci!!

This year reminds me of the 2017-2018 year (I think it was that season). If that's the case don't expect much more than the WROD being open. Some mountains have pushed back their opening dates as well. I hope I'm wrong.
  4. I think the problem with NS is actually the sidecut and not the rocker/camber profile. It's really hooky and unpredictable at times. I'm also not a fan BUT I do think they make very solid, damp boards that seem to last a long time and have a good base. My Swift is an awesome pow board and will outfloat everything else I have (maybe except the Contra - to be tested!) Now if I could get a Swift with the DO sidecut..... mmmmmm.....
  5. I've been hanging my boards like that for 6 years now, doesn't seem to cause them harm. Maybe a bit TOO close up (remember, this is in my garage) but it's pretty simple. Looking at it now I think I used small 2x4 cutoffs (split in half -> 1x4) for the spacer blocks. I set them about 5mm wider than the waist width. To remove them I lift them up and out. The soft wood blocks seem to distribute pressure well and don't cause deformation. One of the nice things about this setup is how flexible it is. You can have any width you want. As my group changes I simply unscrew the blocks and screw them back on for the new boards. That being said I can't think of anything I would change now (GASP! HERESY!!! What about N+1?!?)
  6. Thanks! It's a 2x6 screwed to the studs in my garage. To that I screwed in 1x2" blocks that hold up the boards. Cost me nothing (all scrap wood) and I honestly love how it presents the boards. The skies are harder to mount because they need longer blocks and longer screws. I should convert the heretics in my house!
  7. I thought only the Epic pass required reservations... At least at the mountians I go to Ikon doesn't seem to require reservations. Here in CO with all the wildfires going on the backcountry is going to be a complete $tshow this winter. The forests are really dangerous with falling trees and most parking lots are going to be closed for mitigations. Plus everyone thinks they're going to go backcountry riding. Absolute $tshow!
  8. I never thought that buying a season pass would be considered a "political act"....

    Yo Lci!!

Welp! Not that they have any snow but I am beginning to not like 2020 (and have not liked it for quite some time now)
  10. Wow! Way too close for comfort. Too many close calls lately. Glad you caught that and took care of it so quickly! I know you're in NZ but even there if there was a year to miss out on these sports this one is it.
  11. Really excited for this year!
  12. Awesome! I hope you get to ride the begeezers out of it
  13. I know... But how else am I going to get butt warmers?
  14. I bet the girl is a skier (actually she was really shaken up - I gave her a hug and told her that the best thing is that we are all ok) That's exactly what we thought. I'm bummed. I love that FJ. I thought it would last at least two more years (probably more). And yeah, we're probably going to buy a new 4runner and run it until the mileage rounds over.
  15. But seriously, I'm thankful we walked away and don't have to hold an injury sale here... (or worse) Girl in a Tundra decided to enter the intersection. Unfortunately the intersection was occupied by us. 230,000 very hard miles including some epic off-roading and countless trips to the mountains for snowboarding. Was still going strong. Ah well, it's kind of a Viking funeral. Better than having to sell it to a yard. Now to look for a new snowboarding rig. Any suggestions?

    Yo Lci!!

    Congratulations!!!!
  17. I'm trying to figure out if it's somehow detrimental to use these insoles. Like I said, I have the same problem with softboots as well so the fitter can't help me there.
  18. I seem to never have enough room in the forefoot. My foot is not wide but my arch is pretty high and this leads to a very tight fitting boot up front. I've tried sizing up and then I have no support. This happens in both soft and hardboots, and yes, I do heat mold my liners. Almost in desperation I tried throwing a 3/4 insole in the boot. It seems to give me enough arch support so my foot doesn't collapse but I have more room. What am I missing? Is this stupid? Should I just find a really low volume insole? Any other ideas?
  19. This is definitely the place! I know my boots are better than your boots! Mine are yellow!
  20. Ikon and Loveland pass finally purchased. I mean I have 2 new Coilers that I NEED to ride. It's a public service! I figure snowboarding is important enough. I can wear my mask (which I do anyway) and stay away from people (which I do anyway). The LCI people are too fast for me so no problem there. OTOH I did get infected by whatever they got so no safety in this case...
  21. It seems like you are asking for civility and agreements from a social media platform... One that flames whenever someone asks about bail vs step-in. You crazy.
