  1. Ouch but yes. The evidence is clear. I enjoy softboot riding more. If the day is perfect, I feel great and the slope is good I can link a carve or two but in reality it's hard work and I suck at it. After 4 years it's time to go in the direction my legs are telling me. These are awesome boards and I really love them but I have not ridden them this year and probably will not ride them. 1) Coiler Nirvana Free Carve Balance (NFCB) 174 - 10/12.7/12, 20cm waist, made for a 180 lbs rider. (T 174 NFCB 019 ER 6.5+6) Board has about 25 days on it. Base and edges are in excellent condition. SOLD 2) Coiler Monster 184 - 11/13.7/13, 21cm waist, made for a 180 lbs rider. (T 184 M 020 JVR 6.1+9) Brand new board. I have not been able to ride it. Not selling (unless you REALLY want it) 3) F2 Intec Titanium bindings. 2x new bindings (blue) - new in box with all the wedges, bolts, straps and instructions. One has 2 days on snow while the other has 0.- SOLD 1x black - used but in great condition. Front is flat and the back has 6deg lift and 3 deg cant wedges. - SOLD 4) Deeluxe Free69 boots MP27 with Deeluxe liners, Fintec heels and BTS. (yes, I'll reinstall the toe strap) SOLD Buyer is responsible for shipping.
  2. You were exactly right!!! I realized that in order to get the correct stance width I had to move the front binding forward. So I went back and tried the Contra AT with softboots again but this time I shifted my bindings back and relaxed the angles a bit (36/21). Holy Canoly! This thing is great with softboots!!! The twichiness and desire to autorotate is gone. Instead it rolls easily and also holds an edge. I'm not 100% done with the setup but it's enough for me to realize that I am done with hardboots.
  3. I can't comment on the board (I'm sure it's amazing to ride) but the topsheet is absolutely beautiful!

    Yo Lci!!

I want to... I'm planning to but I also hate waking up so early. Plan is to be there but don't hold me to it.

    Yo Lci!!

Ooof, I'd love to but have a meeting stuck in the middle. I'm planning on Friday, hoping to avoid crowds.
  6. How much is a touch? I kinda like the maneuverability ...
  7. Well the experiment was conducted. The result? Interesting. It felt exactly the same as riding it with hardboots except I had a bit less support when leaning into the tongues. It's interesting but I had the same issue when riding hardboots without any canting on my rear knee, that is that my knee gets tucked in and then I have no power rolling heel to toe. It's not all a wash though. The front boot had plenty of authority and I didn't feel the angles were wrong. I did feel that the board needs a lot of accuracy in turning. In comparison, my DO accepts weight shifts really well but this required me to be very accurate. Once I got the hang of it I managed some really nice heel-side turns that felt awesome. So interesting as an experiment and it might work really well with soft boots and some canting for me but for now I'll go back to HB on this one.
  8. I was typing up the same question... For me what worked was following Beckmann's article in the following way: I tried to be able to ride straight while line footing or just standing up. It was harder and weirder than I thought. What I did (after way too much time fussing) was going to the bunny slope, midweek, in the morning where I was the only one there. I loped off to the side started off with both feet flat and just did run after run while changing one thing at a time. I ended up with the front foot flat and the back foot with heel lift and outward cant. It's super weird but every time I try to move away from that I feel super uncomfortable. I know time is scarce and you want to ride but spending a day figuring out your correct stance is really important. You won't find the answer here. It's out there on the slope. I still feel uncomfortable riding hardboots but at least now it's not the setup.
  9. I don't know why it looks like that. There is overhang but it's not that much and it's fairly high up. Right now the back foot is at 30°. I can probably go to 40°-45° and that will eliminate bootout completely. There's definitely tinkering to be done but right now I just want to know if the boots are enough to turn the board or will I feel like I'm riding a plank. Edit: I missed the snip about the bindings... They are my favorites! You wouldn’t happen to have any more of those?
  10. That's easy. I have one from this week. The American Flyer lift in Copper is a "bubble covered" lift that is really nice when it's cold. It has some really nice padded seats, is exceptionally long and reaches super long groomers that are a blast to carve on. However, this design makes it so you can't hook your arm around or under the seat backrest. This causes people to fall off at loading with hilarious regularity. They usually sit down, reach for their phone (because how can you not check your phone while on the lift) and promptly fall off. I've lost count of how many I've seen. I've had a snowboarder come up and try to join me this week only to disappear under the seat as it was about to be picked up by the high speed line. Idiot.
  11. I can tell you where it's NOT. We are having a very dry year up here in CO. Just from looking at OpenSnow it looks like Baker, Snoqualmie and Hood are your best bets. Utah and CO are not good right now.
  12. On a scale of 1 to "please don't", place your bets on how a 24cm wide Contra will do with softboots. With all the recent softboot converts and following a recommendation from @slopestar (yes, I'm blaming you) I'm trying to softboot my Contra. I took out my DO out on Copper and was reminded at just how much more I like softboots over hardboots. I like the challenge of HB but let's be honest, I suck at them. If this experiment works out there might be some very new narrower Coiler boards in the classifieds soon...

    I'm Out!

I sooooo feel you. The last couple of times I rode I felt like I miss my softboots more and more. This week I spent some time on my "old" DO in Copper and was reminded at just how much better I ride softboots. I like the challenge of HB but my softboots are more comfortable and versatile.
  14. Yes... how to answer such a question... FWIW, I found them unhelpful - e.i. I prefer riding flat on softboots and if you are a beast you could break them.
  15. 27MP Just out of curiosity, do they work with Fintech/Intec heels?
  16. Please let us know! I'm still looking for something softer. Seems the softer I go the better I ride.
  17. ^^^ This I just pull over to the side and let the kooks get further. I'd rather wait and not run the risk of running into anyone.
  18. I agree that that would be more "balanced" but when I tried it it was horrible! I find that running the front foot flat and the rear with 6° of heel lift is far more comfortable for me. I also add 3° of outward cant to the rear foot. As best as I can tell I'm naturally knock-kneed and this helps position me in a more athletic position. It took FOREVER to dial this in but it works for me and if I mess with any of these settings I feel as though I can't turn the board. I also found that I am very front foot heavy and so the heel lift in the back acts like a rear facing "gas-pedal". As I lean back the board engages better. Again, this took forever to figure out and honestly would have been faster if I didn't try to achieve a "balanced" stance that works for others. The TL;DR is that a true balanced setup is one the puts YOU in a balanced position not one that is mathematically symmetric.

    Yo Lci!!

Oooh! Welcome!! Loveland's season ends after the first weekend of May every year. It's a national forest permit thing. So the last day would be 5/2/2021 for this season. ABasin usually stays open until June and sometimes even July. Apparently now so does Breck. This season thus far has been very poor in terms of snow coverage so I doubt they'll stay open too long.

I was thinking the same thing... It's already been an hour and nobody stole this?
  21. Well now it's stuck in my head too.... and I wasn't even listening to that album. I was listening to Menace to Sobriety
