  1. Went to the rivah today to sample their "most terrain open in the east" claim... Wow, that wasn't worth it... at all. Bad conditions, blowing snow on nearly all the open runs. Frankly it was dangerous there were serious voids in several of the runs right in the middle with no markings at all. I'm going to give them some time to get their operation in a better place before I go back... Should've went surfing at Higgins today instead...
  2. 22.5+... big feet... big boots...
  3. If any of those neglected steeds have a thick waist let me know...
  4. @yamifumiwhat's the scr? Any further specs? Interested!
  5. @johnasmo Would you be able/willing to redo this multi radius graph with other curves? I'd like to see a single SCR, a Race SCR (REV/Kessler/Whatever), and a common VSR to be able to visually compare those to the Contra AC curves. Thanks so much for being so open with this... Did you just start open sourcing sidecut?! I think it's a thing now... super cool.
  6. @David Kirk nice review. Isn't the X-1 one of the Oxess freecarve series designed for softboots? https://oxess.ch/en/content/87/56/snowboards/freeride-softboot-carver-freecarver Is yours a different model? Any additional info/specs would be welcomed, thanks! Mahalo.
  7. I'm so jelly... the snow in the PNW has been incredible in the last few weeks... plus Meadows is fun.
  8. Yeah, I can see me riding there a bunch in the future. I close on my house in Saco in early May. Mahalo.
  9. Maybe patrollers don't have to make reservations...
  10. You guys are going to have to be in full schedule mode next season... https://snowbrains.com/7-ikon-pass-resorts-will-manage-crowds-by-requiring-reservations-next-season/
  11. I've done both the boot DIY for stiffness and the third strap (both production (so long ago) and DIY). The third strap is yet another thing once off the chairlift but is superior in all other aspects. At some point the boot DIY is pressing on the top of the foot often unpleasantly. Certainly you have some old bindings laying around... Give the 3rd strap a go... Super easy to setup like SBS has... Mahalo
  12. Looks like a Deeluxe-ish forward lean on the boots. The bindings are also interesting.
  13. Supermatics on sale in the EU, $375 USD. https://www.outdoorxl.com/nidecker-supermatic.html 29.0 MP is max of the large size.
  14. Freedom presented itself once again... where to go? -Had to be close -Had to be somewhere I've never been before -Had to be not absurdly expensive King Pine checked all the boxes, close to my location, never been, $35.00 last day ticket!! From my first run to my last you couldn't wipe the smile off my face. FUN! Yeah, not a lot of vert but that's like normal to me. Good groom, very few people early, plenty of snow and beautiful pines everywhere. Are there any other resorts that are in the pines like this one??? I loved it. People were friendly too... Surprising steepness on a couple of their runs... short but legit. I left before the cardboard chaos... looked like some serious fun was going to ensue. photos- https://photos.app.goo.gl/x1Z82j1kAejThXUq6
  15. Hit Shawnee today. Had to be close as it had to be quick, open to 12:30 Was fun... certainly a lot of racing skiers there... saw some good turns. They have a lot of snow on that hill... hard to believe next weekend is their last weekend. Whew my legs are toast. I was told by several locals they think Boyne will rename (change it back?) it to Pleasant Mountain which they're all in favor of... and they are looking forward to getting the old chair from Sunday River. Although the lot was full, and it never seemed like they needed additional uphill capacity. Started out loud and skritchy. But with the morning sun and warm temps it softened. Wasn't all sunshine and rainbows... definitely had some exposed ice in sections... had to be aware. There was a little swell at Scarborough this afternoon, if I had my wetsuit and board, I would have been able to get my second ski & surf in a day. Photos- https://photos.app.goo.gl/UH8mifCJmfz36j7w8
  16. I spend a lot of my riding on choppy piste... You can't back off... riding more flat/less inclination will bounce you around even more. Typically choppy is softer so put that edge down and keep the knees loose. Shorter less complete turns can help you stay on the edge. The boots "cutting your feet to bits" sounds like your boots don't fit properly to begin with which can lead to a whole host of other issues.
  17. Happy as a pig in slop... Oink, I guess... Was able to escape work and hit Camden at their 1400 opening time today. Last day Sunday (not open Saturday??), maybe... not sure they'll make it. I won't be there either way. Still, I had a lot of fun... really did feel like "home", except so much larger. I get about 10 laps an hour at Paoli, 3 an hour at Camden. Sun was beaming at the start... later in the day some clouds moved in, and the runs firmed up a little which was nice. My legs were toast after about 3+ hours straight... Did see a guy carving in softboots... really narrow stance with 45/45 angles. He really needs a third strap... He wasn't a fan of the conditions, lol. Great to make some turns and see the ocean... 18. Men 40-49 at the loaf was where the competition was at.
  19. I can... I was behind @rwmaron He usually has a big smile waiting at the bottom.
  20. I'm in Camden until the 21st. I'm not sure when my next Loaf trip will be... I didn't expect to be there today! Sure glad I was though! Perhaps midweek I'll have a better idea.
