  1. Hoof Cants modified and mounted. Was able to get rid of lots of stack height and all the little shim hardware with the F2 Titan Flex and mimic my TD-3 stance I have been using for a long time. 3 degrees square with board so a little toe and heel lift, little tipped towards each other.
  2. Whitefish Resort, Montana. Organically formed snake track in the Ptarmigan Bowl. Johnasmo said it formed in just a few days of locals following each other. It finally got soft enough for me to brave jumping into it and the bottom half was a lot of fun! The track was waist deep plus very surfy feeling.
  3. Today was Slushtastic fun! Just kept getting better all day!
  4. http://www.castleplastics.com/wedge.php DIY no printing involved. Used for shimming up cow/horse hooves. Montucky style.
  5. Full isolation. Have not tried riser types.
  6. I am not fan of plates for freecarving. For racing I get it, East Coast ice, I get that. Living out west and having typically good conditions and having tried a few plates, I found the performance gains not worth the low speed handling sacrifice, weight and stack height increase. A Thirst with reasonably flexy bindings will handle the worst conditions (spring freeze/thaw cycles) we get stunningly well. I think our North America board builders are building some of the finest recreational freecarving boards out there and plates are not needed when you build them right.
  7. So very true. Soft flexy boots, bindings and 23-25cm waisted shorter board, 150-170cm long opens up a whole lot of mountain (off groom)
  8. Some of us are meeting up at Big Sky April 18-21. Feel free to join us. Feb 10-13, 2020 Montucky Clear CUT https://montuckyclearcut.com/
  9. If you weighed 200lbs, at 4.5g’s your feet/legs would be supporting 900lbs. Seems pretty high to me. I think someone who is very mathy ran the numbers and found 1.5+/-.3 g’s to be normal. If I remember correctly. Still fun data to play with.
  10. We have a very kind forum over here.. Thank you moderators for keeping things cruelty free. Just this group being welcoming and helpful does a lot to promote the sport.
  11. I had the opportunity to meet with Sean from @Donek today, got a great tour of his mad scientist lab and had some great discussions. I could go on and on about how amazing of a production facility he has built/designed and the reduced environmental impacts he is quietly doing or the amazing build tolerances he is using, on and on and on... but the topic I really want to get rolling around in everyone’s head is how do we help this sport grow in the US/Canada? For those of you that have been to a carving session, it feels like a family reunion, with a family that has not reproduced, at all, ever... Each year one of the family joins the gray/no hair club... There are lots of Lone Wolf Carvers out there, and a few areas that have a hand full of carvers... If we keep this up, eventually this sport will be extinct in North America, and the straggler will be smuggling in gear from overseas to feed their habits. So, my question to all of you is how do we as individual and as a group help this sport grow and be sustainable. Let’s hear your ideas! Thanks, David
  12. Remember that time we had a carving event in Montucky....turned out to be an epic pow fest... that was fun. Thanks to all of you who contributed and participated. What a great adventure!
  13. @carlito your last lines sound like fine art or good religion. Beautifully stated... A reasonable Montucky translation would be... “go fast, turn little, giggle a lot, repeat” Most importantly, giggle a lot! Playing in snow is fun!
  14. Cantucky Clear CUT in our future?
  15. @BigDogDave is the local.
  16. For $300 you can ride Big Sky all of April. Normal tickets are $150 https://aprilpass.com/?_ga=2.128563909.89386791.1549569317-97269288.1501875907 We usually take advantage of this great price and will meet up there for April 18-21. Not organizing anything for this week, but a meet up and ride! Conditions are usually great for carving! Hope to see you there!
  17. Another kind of “Bend It”. Tail end of a 360 caught by @Riceball at the Montucky Clear CUT
