  10. Titanal boards can be built with as much or little pop as you want. If you want really quiet and damp board, have the builder use less carbon and fiberglass, if you want more pop then have them add more carbon to the tail. It seem like the reduced carbon /fiberglass titanal boards are a bit better on the ice. I tend to like boards damp in the nose with a bit more carbon in the tail. That give you some good pop in the tail. But when the conditions get a bit more rugged as the day progresses I like to ride damper/quieter boards. That all being said, there are some really amazing boards being built without titanal like the Thirst boards and the Donek Secret. We are so lucky to have such amazing board builders. Everyone of them can and will build you just what you are looking for!
  11. RIP Jake. Nearly every decision in my life has been influenced by snowboarding. Schools, jobs, locations, relationships, vacations, and health habits. Thank you so very much for laying the foundation for so many like me. You will always be remembered.
  12. 2009 Johnasmo and I went went to our first carving session at Aspen. We knew no one going into the event and had no idea what to expect. By the end of the week we had tons of new carving friends, got to meet and ride with Fin, Michelle, Jorg, Bruce, Sean and Chris (RIP), had a ton of fun and could not wait to see our new friends at the next session. The MCC is just another Carving Family Reunion with new family members joining us each year! Going to your first session can make you a bit anxious, but be prepared to have a great time and make life time friends with people as passionate about the sport (and life) as you. Both boards were Shred Groomer designs, 201 Donek Das Amputator and the Coiler 188 Violator. Great rides for the times, then along came metal, multi radius shapes, decamber, and all the modifications that our brilliant board builders and worked out. I am super excited to be seeing the Carving Family at the 2020 MCC and meeting all the new family members!
  13. Big Sky is a very big resort for North America. Great carving and lots of everything else. We will be informally meeting up there April 16-19, 2020, like we have for many years. Good times!
  14. I am riding both TD-3 SW step in and F2 Titan Flex step in with the Montucky Mod 3 degree hoof cant. Other than the weight I really can’t feel a difference in the ride. I do like all of the burly metal of the Bomber Bindings. Either way, both are great free carve bindings, both will have failures if you mistreat them or not inspect them regularly. @snowburn MCC is a great place to get to see, touch and try a lot of amazing equipment. Also meeting a lot of great like minded folks and talking carving with someone who cares is priceless.
  15. 46 spots left. Thank you to all that have registered! Just think how silly you will feel if you wait till the last minute and there are no spots left!
  16. Donek is a US distributor of Deeluxe.
  17. I wonder if we did back to back blind tests on good western conditions if a regular recreational Carver could feel a difference between a professional tuned board, a factory tuned board and one that has been simply waxed (when base is dry) and edges touched up when rocks are encountered. I have never ridden a professionally tuned board, other than how it comes from the builder, so I can not answer. I put such little effort into waxing/tuning, but I think that has more to do with terrain and prevailing snow conditions. My answer to your question would be to ride it and see how it feels, wax it when the base looks dry and drag a file on the edges when rocks are encountered. Enjoy your new board!
  18. Early season Whitefish and a fun story!
  19. 50 as of Friday. So only 50 spots left. Capping event at 100.
