A little porn, surf and turf style:

I just took delivery of my Nirvana Free Carve Balance from Coiler, so I'm getting all kinds of amped for the snow!!!  I also threw a couple of new long boards that I got this year into the picture (Loaded Vanguard and a Detroit Surf Company Freestyle).  I've mentioned elsewhere that alpine boarding finally got my snowboarding juices flowing again, and learning longboard carving/sliding was a blast.  I especially like the Detroit board with the yellow Stimulus wheels and I've got the scars to prove it!  I also take guilty pleasure in seeing my daughters forsake their inline skates (alpine ski training) for daddy's longboards!  I'll make snowboarders out of them yet!

I threw a QR code on the Nirvana to help the board find it's way home in case of getting lost or stolen.  Hope I never need to use it!

I also brought in a second Coiler to Kongsberg for a friend, so here's hoping to make Kongsberg the carving capital of Norway!!!

There have been two retail experiences that have stood out for me this year. The first was when my wife bought brand new hard boots directly from Jim Callen at Starbucks in Basalt, CO, in the middle of July. Top service from Jim, and none of the locals seemed to find this in the slightest bit strange.

The second one was the ordering of a Stubby 172 from Bruce, with custom graphics and a custom 22 cm width. Fantastic service from Bruce, and the board looks great. Thanks to st_lupo for bringing it safely back across the water! This is my first metal board, and I suddenly feel very ready for the long Norwegian winter.

P.S. The image is a detail from Engine 482, which operates on the Durango to Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.

Yup I got those last year. Yup that's his long plate (its crazy!!!!!, very cool!!!). I have to admit I don't have a lot of time on that board though to really give a solid review....

The 180 grey JJA next to the Alpine Punk? SICK!!!!!!!!! so good!!!!! that board blew my mind...... Really really sweet....  Rode it back to back to my 196 Oxess and I was freaking out on both.

Definitley recommend one if you are thinking of getting one.

The last board in the display is a JJA 162 (I think on the length) with another one of his plates and it IS one of the fastest bases I have ever tried. Its crazy fast.

His new bended plate design with the inserts put further to sides of the board?
