lordmetroland
And, here is another black board... Not to pry into personal stuff, but what size boots are you running? I've got some 30.5s and am trying to get picture of how steep my angles would have to be if I tried a board with similar width. My current rides are all waaaaaaaaayyy wider than 23.5! My current rides are all waaaaaaaaayyy wider than 23.5! size 28 boots and running about 55° front and 50° rear, just so there's no overhang. My "narrow" carving boards are 20.5cm wide and angles end up about 62°-60° F and 57°-55° rear, again with no overhang being the guide. For me, anything wider than 23.5 is noticeably more effort and slow edge to edge. My aging knees seem to get more particular about stance every year. lordmetroland
size 28 boots and running about 55° front and 50° rear, just so there's no overhang. Thanks for the clarification! I'd like to try something narrower at some point, but I fear that typical carving boards, with my big feet, will have me angled like I'm on a Skwal. And Skwals are sort of like angler fish and volcanoes; conceptually, I'm happy they exist but practically they're too scary for me to get close to.

And Skwals are sort of like angler fish and volcanoes; conceptually, I'm happy they exist but practically they're too scary for me to get close to. Funny, that. As for angles/foot size/board width....I have 31.0's, and run 55F/50R on a 26 waisted 172 board with a 9-11 sidecut. My rear boot is right in line with the edges (no under/over hang toe or heel). My front, however, has slight underhang on the toe edge because I put a little Gilmour bias into it (shifted front binding toward the heel edge) to better weight heel turns. LIke you, I'd like to go a bit narrower, maybe 24 for my next board, which likely will require a 55R angle. Hope this helps.

Duke
Not carving decks but I just got my two Dupraz D1s. I boot-hiked up Fred's Mountain in Wyoming to take a few runs yesterday on the 5 1/2 ft one and it is a snow surfer! Fantastic pow ride! Can't wait for the season to open so i can try the 6 ft deck and check their performance on groomers. The Dupraz reps told me they ride great with plate bindings if I am so inclined.
