Okay,so if this happens to you, here is what I did. 1) Liners out and put a few drop oil penetrating oil on the inside but the inserts. 2) Wait a while. 3) Try by hand with an appropriate sized head screwdriver 4) Try again with an impact driver and the same head ( I got 3 of 4 like this) 5) The last one rounded out so I got a similar sized square head (#2 in this case) and hammered it into the partially stripped head. Then used the impact driver again. This worked on both partially stripped bolts. The combo of moderate tapping from the hammer helps loosen up the bolt and gets a little more oil in there. 6) Order new bolts and pads from Bomberonline.com 7) Ride to victory!

Good morning Carvers! I'm in the process of switching over to my new RC12s from 8 year old RC8s. I use Fin-tec step in heels in them and I'm having a heck of a time getting them out of the old shells. Right now they're sitting on the porch with a little penetrating oil on them soaking in. They're also Phillips head bolts rather than the new Torx. head so it the oil doesn't do it, what are my other options? Honestly, the shells are done so I have no problem taking a Sawzall to them if I have to.

I was at Butternut yesterday (before the storm) it was firm, fast and narrow. I switched to a soft setup after a gear failure.

Well, I now have 2 choices, upgrade to the single rivet version for about $200 or grab a new pair. Life is tough Thanks everyone for your input.

I know I can't remember that far back, but how are you finding the new softie gear? I'm debating if I should steal my son's skis now that he's away at college or grab a soft boot setup.

I'm planning in coming up on Saturday this weekend with some friends and family.

I skied for 7 years but that was 25 years ago. I do find steeper stuff a bit more difficult and I have some issues controlling speed. I'll try that. I think my hesitation is that it's not particularly wide anywhere around here and I'm looking downhill too soon.

So can anyone post a vid and ask for advice or should I start my own thread? JIC, turn down the volume for wind noise.

Hey gang! I was taking a break after riding pretty hard today and noticed my power strap was missing from my back boot. It turns out the anchor ripped out so I'm presuming it's shot. What are my options? Sew it or replace with a new one? Something else? Give me a little guidance please.

You should check out the Rally at Bershire East Feb 23-24. Riding with other hardbooters is what helps me out. I've only been Riding alpine for about 6 years (missed a season with be busted ankle) and only have about 4 days with other hardbooters. Those 4 days made a big difference in my riding style and greatly helped me build my knowledge.

I just bought 1 for my TD3s at Ace Hardware for $.75 it's not stainless but it will get me on the slopes tomorrow.

Well it sounds like their plan is to make snow on top of this stuff. They plan on opening Dec 15. I have mixed feelings on this. It was not fun to ride on When it was just the plastic. However, I can see it being great with a bit of snow. It'll protect your board on thin spots and they can open with 3" of snow on it. I did spend some time chatting with the manager and the plan is to install at least 2,800' of this. So in hoping it rides ok with a little snow on it.

I don't have softies any more. I'm actively trying to talk the family into going. I'll be running a Donek FC 172 since there is no way I'm taking my Coiler on that.

I suspect he's looking for a used set. I like the look and idea of the Geckos but they would be more expensive than the custom board I had done.

I know I'm not even close to the oldest on here but I'm not a kid either. With that in mind I'm prepping earlier for the season in the Northeast to be sure I'm ready. Last year I only got out 4 days in 1 week and it was a disappointing season for me (got hit twice!).
