  1. I had no idea there were so many carvers in CT. We still don't have power in Oxford and aren't expecting it back until sometime between Saturday and Wednesday.
  2. It's an ATB (Articulated Tug-Barge) the tug is 135' and 4700hp and the barge is 325' and 80,000 bbls capacity. We're in the UMD local 333 here part of the longshoreman's union. We run off wifi and I use my smartphone a ton. We have sat phone but it's expensive and unreliable. http://www.tugboatinformation.com/pictures/ATB%20Laurie%20Ann%20Reinauer.jpg The pic was going to margin rape so you'll have to click the link.
  3. Well I'm currently anchored up off of Hyde Park in the Hudson River. We were re-rerouted up here by my company to wait it out. So far so good. It's going to get interesting tonight though. I'll stay in touch if possible.
  4. Thanks for the welcome, I work odd shifts on the boat so you'll see some funky posting times from me. I usually ride Mowhawk Mtn when I can and will suffer through the 2 even smaller but closer hills if I have to. I live in Oxford where I own a paintball field. Riding stats are 5' 11", 186 lbs my boots are in the 9 area and I'm 40 years old. I honestly ride the small icy trails that are common in Southern New England. With occasional trips to Stratton or Burke if I'm visiting family. I know what you mean about sales, I'm pretty active on the paintball boards and it's the opposite for us. Come winter no one is buying and you can do pretty good if you have some cash. I don't doubt I'll be carving at some point, it's mostly the boots and a good fit that I'm most concerned with. With that being said and being the new guy I'll be lurking until I get a better feel or things.
  5. Hi guys, I've been riding for about 18 years now and I've always been jealous when the alpine guys would go bombing by me with their arm pit 3" off the snow. After reading the noob section I'm pretty sure my current board will work with a hard boot setup but any advice is welcome. I mainly ride in Connecticut and Vermont and with my 2 kids so I don't get out as much as I want. My current setup is a Burton Superfly 162 with first gen K2 clickers and K2's Sherpa boots. What is the minimum I'm looking at for a good setup? I'm not afraid of used gear so let me know your opinions please. Thanks Tug
