  1. I'm 42 and when I try moves like Pat I do them with my face.
  2. They opened for mountain biking this summer and plan on being open for riding this winter.
  3. Yeah, hit us up with some dates so I can see if I'm on the boat or not.
  4. I never thought of that. It's a great point.
  5. I check my bindings a couple of times a day when riding. The issue here as far as I can tell is that with use the toe adjusting bolt is loosening just enough so that rather than locking in, the toe of my boot is lifting a few mm and rubbing. This causes a squeak and it's how I can tell it's time to retighten. Thanks for the advice on Bomber Butter. I've never heard of it but I'll check it out.
  6. Thanks for the links, I should note that it's not the bindings to the board but the front to back adjustment on the binding itself that's loosening.
  7. I run a set of TD1s and Intec (both step ins) on my rigs. After a few hours of use I notice a sqeak as my toe was moving slightly up and down against the bail. Besides not liking the squeak or the idea that my bindings are loosening (even slightly) I was wondering if you guys put Blue Loctite (non permanent) or some other thread locker on to prevent them from loosening? If so what do you use? Thanks Tug
  8. My favorite paintball site is running 3.8.6 with no issues is there an exploit in 4?
  9. It's a deal, with my job I'm available any day of the week, is there one that works better for you guys?
  10. I will definitely make something happen. I was in the middle of planning a Beast trip when I broke. I was hoping to sign up for a freecarve class. The good news is I did 3 miles on the treadmill today!
  11. I'm coming off of my talus fracture and I'm feeling a bit gun shy about carving again. I have decades of boarding experience but almost no carving. I really can't afford to break or injure myself again this season. I really need a decent lesson or to ride with some patient more experienced riders. Who is going to convince me to buy my new boots (Upz RC 10s) and keep carving this season?
  12. Well 7 months after the injury and 4 after surgery, I'm completely cleared for anything. Now I need new boots. :-)
  13. Sure. I was on a relatively flat section of the trail but moving at a pretty decent clip to keep my speed up for the final coast to the lift. I was going toeside and (it happened pretty fast) ended up sliding on my stomach. The board dropped to the snow and caught which jammed the board on the snow a few times as I slid to a stop. My ankle felt funny and the boot liner felt like it had been shifted. The liner felt as if my heel had lifted and slid up the [adding on the inside and it left a funny pressure on my ankle. I rode down to the lift and took off the boot to try and adjust the liner. I thought I got it fixed so I wanted to try one more run to see if the boot was the source of the pain. The run down really hurt. I could go heel side fine but toe side was almost unbearable. We ended up leaving and I could tell, the next morning it wasn't right. Had xrays but was told it was just a bad sprain, they put it in a soft cast anyway and I wore that for 10 days until I had to go back to the boat. When I got home last week, even though it was feeling much better and the swelling was way down, my ankle was still throwing heat and felt tweaked. I had my previous films and made an ortho appointment for Fri, when the Dr. pretty much said it was broken before he even got 5 feet in the room. I had a CT scan this morning and have a follow up on Wed to see if surgery is needed. My particular break is not displaced as determined by 2 sets of xrays 1 month apart. It sounds like in layman's terms for this injury to happen you need to have your toes flexed up and a forward lean on the ankle which locks the talus process(essentially a toe side turn). Add some kind of impact force and the kind of angles we run and it seems like the leg is loaded for this to happen. edit, as I said this is my understanding, I'm not a medical professional and if you have something that sounds like this you should absolutely see a Dr.
  14. Thanks for the offer! Will new boots help prevent another fracture of the talus process? What can be done to prevent this injury?
  15. I'll know more next week. I have a CT scan on Monday and a follow up on Wednesday. I was hardbooting and that is why I was surprised I got an ankle injury.
  16. Well you can take me off the list, my season is over with a broken talus. Catch you guys next year.
  17. Well my season is over, I broke my talus in the classic "snowboarders break". See you guys next season.
  18. It's looking better for me and the kids. I'll throw my old Rossi VAS 159 in the truck if anyone wants to try it. It has step ins though.
  19. I'm going to try for one day I don't know which yet. I may also have to bring my kids (damn little rebel 2 plankers) .
  20. Well even though it is a might necro post that brought this thread backing to life, I'm proud my 41-45 vote put us into second place.
  21. Thanks for the comments. I think I understand what you are saying but I don't completely agree on all of it. 1) Fatigue was certainly a factor, it was my second day out this year and 4th on a carving board. 2) I'm forced by my job to be away for weeks at a time so I should be good to go when I get back next month (I really hope so). 3) I do pt now including running and core exercises and consider my self to be in decent shape. 4) If I have to bail out my first instinct is a heel side slide. I've always done this since I started riding. I can see where I'm going and can use the board to stop or slow myself if I need to. 5) Can you give me more info or a link on the hockey drill? 6) It's the internet, getting offended means nothing. However an open discussion is always welcome. I appreciate you taking the time to type your response, I hope to see you on the hill some day.
  22. Thanks for the well wishes. I'm lucky in that I may get to ride again this season. I'm going to use it as an excuse to get a new pair of boots. I'm still new to carving but was starting to get a decent feel for it. I just figured I'd get more support from the boot then I did. I'll fall differently if given the chance the next time.
  23. Hi gang. I took a decent wipe on friday night at Mohawk. I washed out the back of the board on a toeside turn and ended up on my stomach. The board ended up hitting the snow a few times and kind of jammed my ankle. Thanks to my car keys and Blistex container in my pocket I have a 8" bruise with my pants pocket imprinted on my right thigh. My ankle was so messed up I had to get Xrayed and am now in a soft cast and off the hill for 4-6 weeks. Here is where I need some if you more experienced riders. I'm trying to figure out how my ankle which washing a hardboot got jacked up like it did. As best I can figure my foot didn't move due to the boot but the ankle did causing a rotational injury. It also felt as if my boot liner had a weird lump in the wrong spot now too. So: 1) How do I prevent this from happening again? 2) Should/do I need to replace the liner in my boots? 3) The boots are older Blax Tonis should I plan on new boots next year? I've been riding plain boards for over 20 years and carving (sort of) for 2. Until now I've never been injured to the point I thought I wouldn't be able to go back to work. I guess soft boots would have allowed the movement of my feet and thus I would have been bruised but not gimping around on crutches. Tl/dr: Crashed- why? How to prevent foot injury again? I love snowboarding regardless.
