  1. Well I've been hit twice in the last week so I'm now seriously considering some protection. I think I'll start with the spine since that and my ribs have taken the brunt of the impacts (no injuries).
  2. Had an okay day, there was a decent mix of granular and fresh machine made on top of ice. The bonus was meeting Whitehorse and exchanging info to meet up in the future.
  3. Some of the gear looks familiar. I'd try this out, it looks interesting.
  4. I'm running a trip on Sat 1/14, I won't be able to do much more than chat but I'll be there most of the day.
  5. That sucks I hope you're ok and bounce back quickly.
  6. So I started on Leg Blasters today, in a word ouch! http://www.backcountry.com/explore/train-eccentric-leg-strength-for-alpine-skiing?branch_used=true I got through 2 and a half of the mini blasters after my run on the elliptical and it was going well until I got to the jump lunges. My knees didn't like them at all. I'll keep progressing these as best I can.
  7. Where do you generally ride? We like to suck in new addicts so chances are we may be able to meet up with loaner gear.
  8. It's about an hour for me too. Let's hope for an early season.
  9. I go as much as possible on weekdays. With the boat schedule it's pretty easy. Mohawk is a bit smaller and narrower than the Beast but it's close to home.
  10. Mostly Mohawk but if my schedule allows I'll make a Beast trip.
  11. Working on my core with bodyweight exercises and my cardio. It's more prepping for life but being in shape for snowboarding is a side benefit.
  12. I've been advocating to have someone with more carving knowledge than myself take over and update the Carvers Almanac. It is what really helped me get into the sport 5 years ago. There is a lot of carving into out there already it would be nice if we could consolidate it all here.
  13. I only have a hardboot setup but I'm not going in the bumps. I'll ride the afternoon bumpy piles but I stay away from the well established frozen ones.
  14. It rained on me 3 times then first week home from the boat. My season is done down here, it was 77 today and I doubt any snow will survive long at these temps.
  15. Is a collective group buy possible for all the carving board manufacturers? Shipping will.be a little more but it could solve the volume issue.
  16. I'm also seeing a lot of softbooters Carving on their regular boards. Our local hill had all the snowboard instructors riding and they were all trying to carve. It was pretty cool to see.
  17. I ride cramped Connecticut and have a 12/14 on my Stubby. I really like it on the narrow trails available down here.
  18. It's very generous of you to share! Thanks for being so generous.
  19. I may do a 1 day assault on Friday but I don't have spousal approval yet and that's a lot of driving.
  20. Hit the hill last Friday with about 4 inches of freshies on it. They made it decent but you could see the groomer marks in the ice underneath. It carved nice though hopefully they pick up more natural stuff this week.
  21. Since when is there a right or wrong way to carve? Isn't the community small enough as it is already? It's something I'd like to learn even if I choose not to do it. Besides laying out some sweet EC under the lift is a great way to have people ask about carving.
  22. Epic spring conditions with hero snow today. Sorry for the triple post.
  23. I'll be at the hill all day Sunday, come say hello.
  24. I will likely be at Sundown tonight with my daughter, I won't be able to take off but at least come say hi.
