those boots look pretty new as well. i'm eyeing a set on ebay just now, just unsure of the lower cuff height.

Yup, new boots too... Haven't ridden them yet but they wider inners than the Deluxe Indy's I've been on for a handful of years and I don't need 5 buckles.

Height-wise they seem pretty similar to the Deluxe design. You can raise or lower the plastic bits at the side to adjust the height there. The main plusses on examination are that all the buckles are "proper" (not zip-tie things), and they are all removable with a screwdriver for major adjustments and set up.

I don't hugely like the flex/ lean and cant adjusters, which are similar to those on the old 225 (?) boots.

The board has significantly less camber than my F2 Speedster SL 163, but then that's a board which rewards being driven hard. I'll drive to MK or Hemel on Thursday and check it out...

Great new board Phil, you will not be dissapointed. Why did you go for the 156 instead of the 62. I know you have issues with the big boards but I think a 62 would have been more versatile. Or have you got a full custom with bigger sidecuts?

I think I am going to try and organise a Scottish Expression Session at Cairngorm this winter. There might just be three of us, but three alpine riders on a Scottish mountain would be good.

Well I'm not really averse to large boards; it's all good. I just don't get that much piste time and I feel a bit hounded by the speed cops.

I couldn't in the end get out to Euro land to play on these so I had to take a punt... I checked the weight ranges, and discussed with WinterGold who's ridden these. I'm well below the 162 weight range, bang on the 156... hence my choice, which I hope was correct.

I'll give it a shot in a dome in a few days, but that's no test really. Time will tell..

Sounds good... I haven't ridden there since 1984(!). I think this shot is from Aonach Mor on the same trip, where I had the pleasure of ripping the slope on the left line-after-line on a 162 Nitro Scorpion (new school race at the time). That was the wettest snow I've seen outside of Whistler.

too narrow last week. only M1, 105 and lady open. but it's snowing pretty heavily, so saturday looks good.

yup, that's the summit button tow, and spider on the left. this year after the big february dump it was a warm-up area for everyone who was about to bomb down the goose. hope it happens again.

A custom 162 built to your specs is your answer. We do that all the time. You could also consider the 168 all around.

Last year I rode the stock 162 SL and the stock 168 All around. I am a very good rider and 145 pounds.

The 162 is ridable but quite a bit too stiff for me to want to ride. The 168 is perfect but would also hold up to a much better or bigger rider than me. I bought the 168, thanks Bola. I have ridden a lot of boards and the Kesslers are a breed apart (I have not ridden a recent SG or Virus).

I bet the 156 Sl would be a blast to ride!

SG Full Carve 170 and SG Full Race Titan 170. Exactly the same shape, only one glass and the other metal construction. I've never had a chance to ride glass and metal board with same specs before. Let's see if the metal performance justify higher price... ;)

...and VIRUS X-treme Carver 169. I simply love wide decks. :1luvu:

That's what I'd been told... The F2 163 is marginal for thin boys, in that you have to be completely on it at my weight to make it work; the Kessler I suspect is beefier if anything. My specs are the same as yours. It looked pretty obvious that the mid-sized board of the range would be right for me.

I had a morning on the 156SL today. This was on our local 160m indoor slope. It was indeed a blast - completely chuckable, bump & jump, rails across the slope even at modest speeds. You can't really carve 360s there but it feels like it'll be easy. So that slope's too small to tell much, other than the board works pretty well on it. I didn't really notice the "metal" thing; I just thought it was a neat board which rode well.

The thing I don't know yet is how it'll behave when maxed out at speed. Early experiments are good though - I think it will hold its own.

It's flatland so people don't really know what to make of snowboards which go faster than skiers. The soft boot guys looked weird to me with their wide toilet seat stances. Are those really comfortable and efficient? I guess they thought the same about me. Except I got more air and was at least twice as fast. I'd have hated to be burned off by an old fart when I was their age.

Good eye. The 'builder' told me that someone (maybe Bonnie & Clyde) broke into his shop and 'shot up' one of the boards he was building :eek:

Unfortunately it was my board, fortunately though the inserts line up perfectly for mounting my 'Gizmo's' :D to the board, imagine that !?

You shouldn´t have said that. It ruins the illusion :ices_ange ...

But nevertheless tell us your results! I have heard quite a lot about these two boards. Can´t wait to try the Full Carve. All I know is that the Full Race works according to plan :D ...

I have tested many decks in the past, metal and nonmetal but never had a chance to compare two decks with exactly same shape and different construction. My choice would be Full Carve 163 and Full Race 170 but I really want to compare same lengths.

For now I have only feedback from Sigi. Hope to test decks anytime soon. Full Carve looks very promising. And I like the new lengths, last year Full Race Titanal 175 was a bit too soft for me, and 185 was too long for my taste. This year 170 and 180 are stiffer than 175.

More comfortable than the Indys, and they've not been in an oven yet!

Usually I get a bit of shin-bang from the Indys, but the Heads were like slippers. They're impressively built - higher quality than any snowboard hard boot I've ridden before.

What I don't know is how precise they'll be when I need them to be... that's going to take harder snow than they have in Hemel Hempstead. So far so good though... I have wide feet so these should be what I need.

Even better, the £250 I paid BMW for a "through loading" hole in the back of my car works! ;-) Plus it's about to snow out there.

You don't need it for a 156. But as you paid bmw £250 for the priveledge of a hole in your seats you should justify it by emailing Hans and ordering a 185 :).

Also if it is snowing you ain't going anywhere with rear wheel drive.:p

With all the snow in Geordie land at the moment I wish I had gone for Quattro on my estate.
