  1. Jason I may have a buyer for you for our beer league racing
  2. +1 in visiting a bootfitter to get the best thermo liner fitted for you. The UPZs have a bigger toe box and tighter heel than the Deeluxe boots.
  3. At 57 you are going to want something more damp. I just sold my MK, it is very lively, fun but a lot of work. Coiler Angry is damper and has a larger sweet spot. I’d also recommend a Kessler 162
  4. I had one of the first run plates from Fin, which was very stiff, Gen 2 is torsionally not as stiff, the 4mm Lite just allows a little bit more peddling.
  5. I’ll take both @Mr.E. PM for payment details
  6. I recently experimented at Wachusett with their new machine and got good results that I am happy with. They have a $50 tune that will include edges and any structure pattern you want done. The World Cup tune is $90 and is done by hand. Yes it is not a skiMD tune, but those tunes are around $150.
  7. Thanks for the offer Mitchell and it was great to meet you yesterday day. i am not looking for a whole new setup, just to add another plate to my KST 168 and 180 that have UPM.
  8. Looking for UPM Apex X-Plate
  9. I'll be there this Saturday AM for first tracks.
  10. Shred is it as good as this? Over the years you have created some of the most unique boards with Bruce. Love it
  11. @barryj Drop a note to John. thor@austin.rr.com
  12. Did you read my post??? Scroll up 2 posts
  13. @trailertrash and I picked up a set of Thor mittens this season. These things are legit and very sturdy. I'll be curious how they perform on east cost boiler plate and icy conditions.
  14. This is great @patmoore very cool you where able to help a newbie out. @lonbordin World Cup is great, nice and wide, you can get to from the Sunburst lift. My favorite for carving is Quantum Leap on the Jackson Gore side, it has a great steep headwall at the top and has a steeper pitch than most of the other trails at Okemo. Jackson Gore area is also not as busy.
  15. Great interview with JJ. It is still very cool to think that we had him attend our ECES and ride with us. Seb’s interview is great as well. I like this quote from him ”I think Halfpipe could learn a lot from Alpine. Watching a few events last year, riders could definitely improve their carving skills, allowing them to go higher and also do more hits. I also wasn’t impressed with the overall performance of the majority of their snowboards. Most were lacking edge grip. I personally wouldn’t want to hit those icy halfpipe walls without trusting my equipment 100%.”
  16. This debate about old gear is getting really old. No one can honestly tell or convince me that a board from the 90's is a great board that can hang with new tech. Here is a great example of a severely overpriced ancient board. This is very misleading for newbies looking to pick up some used gear and having no idea that this board is over 20 years. I organized the 2008 ECES at Stowe and we hosted a "retro" day and bought out all our old gear from 20-30+ years ago. I have been riding HB's for over 30 years and I took one run on my Burton M6 and could not wait to get off it. Equipment has come a long way. Compare the above mentioned Burton Prime to a 1st gen Metal Prior from 2006 and any rider will see a significant difference and improvement. I almost would love to introduce a rule that if the board is over 10 years old and being sold in the classified section that we move it to a classified section called "Collectors". Any newbies that are looking at gear should know that the board has new tech or is ancient. Do I have old boards that are 20-30 years old? Yes! Do I ever plan on riding? Hell no! They are collector items that are wall hangers in my garage.
  17. Very tempting, would need to unload some boards.
  18. Stay centered on the board. Corey is right on with his advice. I have a 14m Stubby and have a Nirvana VCam 12-14m. I needed to stop loading the nose and adjust my weight to stay centered, it is so much more turny. There is no need to load the nose for a board that turny, stay centered and the board will hook up pretty quickly especially with a small 10/12/11 sidecut.
  19. UP 28M boot front 56 rear 53
  20. No plate. I have an MK and tired a 4x4 Donek AF plate on it a few years ago. The board has so much energy that it was a bucking bronco with plate on it and changed the entire characteristics of the board.
  21. 20 point handicap resulted in me coming in 1st place at our local hill race finals out 202 racers finishing with a 4.56 handicap . I was about 5 seconds off from the fastes skier. Skiers where able to skate and push for close to 3 gates. My biggest change this season was getting forearm racing guards so I could pick a more aggressive line and knock the gates down without bruising my arms.
  22. I picked up an old school 195 2003 Donek from a good friend of mine who needed to downsize equipment do to an international move. The green 195 pictured below was the first long board I tried back in 03/04 and loved it so much I ordered one from Sean . I sold it years ago when board builders started building new decambered shapes and metal was the new rave. I was eager to take this thing out and see if I still liked it as much as I remembered. Conditions were very firm/ice with some spots of sugar: Board spec: 195cm/18.5cm/16.75m My impressions of the board: Once up to speed the fixed 16.75m radius was pretty easy to turn. What was more of a surprise was how loud the board was compared to the equipment I ride now. Back in 2003 the boards were fiberglass and wood cores with no damping material in there. I found that I could not lock in on a carve on the ice and expect the board to hold sold like a metal board. It would start chattering and slipping. I was pretty surprised by it because these conditions would normally not phase me on a metal board or new construction. I haven't really experienced consistent chatter on a board in a carve in years. Yes, I will chatter once and a while with a metal board, but when that happens it is my fault do to fatigue or bad form. Since the conditions where a mix of sugar and ice I was getting jolted around quite a bit on this board. I did not have the confidence that this board would hold in the icy conditions. After about 6 runs on this board I switched back to my 180 KST with an AF plate and boy did that make a difference. I was back to being locked in on a carve and had my confidence back. I did enjoy the 2003 195 Donek and will only take it out when the conditions are good. The boards that I ride now are all new shapes with decambered tip and tails and metal construction besides the Donek MK. Board shapes and construction have changed A LOT since 2003 and it makes a huge difference in performance on snow. For all those riders that are still holding on to and riding old Burtons and boards that are from the 90's do your self a favor and at least get a board that has been made in the last decade with the new decambered shapes. Trust me it makes a BIG difference. You are limiting your riding and ability with a board that was built in the 90's. The picture shows a great comparison of the old shapes of a board built in 2003 vs. a 175cm Donek with the new shape construction.
