  1. Great info Moose. Like you, I've thought long and hard about using the Nomad as the basis for a custom 'quiver killer' that can do hardboots on grom and softies in pow (the Promad looked very close). Whats your thought on it with a little narrower waist (say 26) and with smaller vsr (7-10.5) ?
  2. Should be just the ticket for foggy days!
  3. So @Comapedrosa plenty of great info here, but did it fix your toe side lowsides? (may be too early to tell) Oh and I freakin love that your board is your avatar and instantly recognizable as unique to you.
  4. Careful Barry, sounding bit like like that Amy Winehouse track "They tried to make me go to rehab, but I said....."
  5. Thanks Doc appreciate the reply. I only asked as I found myself thinking about @barryj saying he couldn't get a "comfortable" response from his setup and I wondered if the really high angles he runs (for softies) were exposing a soft cuff boot i.e. it's fine heel to toe once locked down, but was collapsing under load in the lateral when cuff is pressured like a hard boot (although he did say he tried multiple setups). Barry please wade in here :) Its unique that we can get feedback from hard boot aficionados. Gotta say I'm really keen for the big B to get this concept to work, but as a larger silverback, soft flex boots won't work for me.
  6. Maybe do a quick check on your boot size with the Donek calc. (https://www.donek.com/width-calculator/) & see what the suggested width is - more than 20 and you might need to up the rear angle. Or use this template :)
  7. Whats the waist on your stubby? Could you be booting out?
  8. Thank you all - great insight. Doc for reference, what angles you run on the SBX?
  9. +1 on that. Or even better, a mod kit for your current boots - c'mon Burton you know you want to save me money :)
  10. Nice videos - clearly some superheros do fly and you can be sure that when a new one pops up in racing with a fresh method (or equipment), everyone will soon be rocking that setup [cape optional :) ]. As with all racing, you are only the fastest until someone works out how to go faster. Hypothetically at least.
  11. Not disputing any of that Don; it is certainly the way of the alpine racing world at present. Sure it's not SuperG, but my point was simply that IF a superhero could run the fastest line carving, they would be faster than their skid/carve opponents. If the alpine world was awash with cash and full of highly competitive manufactures like MotoGP or F1, there would undoubtedly be different solutions to the Allflex 'norm'. Casey Stoner was just one example of someone able to do something with technology that was seen as almost impossible by everyone inside the industry (except him and Ducati of course!). Sometimes who dares wins!
  12. But IF that same 'fast' line could be carved, rather than skidded, would it not be faster? (not withstanding the laws of physics permitting that of course)
  13. Barry without the boot "clicked in" how would you rate them in flex compared to your Drivers?
  14. As a fellow non-weatherologist, I would the prevailing 'dry'pattern may change. :) History shows Vail averages around 325+ inches and conditions there usually get better as Jan goes on so here's hoping. That being said, this season has the potential to be in top 5 worst on record, so a sacrifice to Ullr is in order.
  15. Not a bombERcyclone :), but long range models are forecasting a strong trough forming off CA around 18 Jan - if the blocking high pressure ridges break down, it could bring the change everyone out west is hoping for.
  16. Great set up Barry! Look forward to some feedback. Not sure if you saw there is a note regarding running them in the jacked up position: https://www.burton.com/us/en/stepon-update
  17. And here was me thinking Mr Beckmann was a master word smith, font of vast alpine knowledge and wielder of razor-like wit, when, in fact he is just simply a Jedi master! :) "Mmm, do or do not, there is no try"!
  18. Barry look forward to that Burton step in report - think I recall @drschwartz saying he was ordering some too? maybe we can get some input from him as well.
  19. Nice! I take it the extra high back was a positive adjustment? What boot size are you?
  20. Nice quiver. Must be just a trick of the light, but that Cult looks to be a lot wider than the extra 4cm the std specs say it has over the Full Carve?
