  1. Yeah totally agree there. Think it's just a dedicated softboot carving board. Kinda like the Gray Desperado Ti Type-R VII Vtec 4matic STi Powerglide 2sp
  2. May I ask in what situations you prefer the contra and in which you prefer the vcam?
  3. Intec Parts: $69.69. The sale from this less shipping fees will primarily form a donation to the forum. Perfect for someone who has Intec compatible boots and F2 Race Ti bindings and is interested in trying Intec on their rear boot/binding. All the parts needed to convert 1 binding and 1 boot to Intec Step In. My current boots are incompatible with Intec. Includes the following: Receiver + receiver cover + pressure plate Toe plate/bail Intec heel + cable + handle All necessary bolts This would cost 190.50 (+ shipping) Canadian Loonies from yyz (if you could pro-rata buy just 1 of the required things that are sold in pairs only). I could have wiped these down to make them a little less ugly. Perfectly functional.
  4. @hknz love those topsheets mate! i don't think they diminish resale value at all.
  5. Not shown: his huge titanium balls dragging on the floor causing sparks
  6. Well I can only speak of the ones I know personally, and they all actually ride hardboots and that's the preferred setup for apx 80% of them. Can't speak for any Koreans as I've never snowboarded with any and haven't been to Korea for snowboarding. But yeah, if I were to ride softboots, I'd ride at something like 30/21. Otherwise what's the point eh. 2019 season, I had an SG Soul 164 with drivers and flows and honestly hated riding softboots- felt too unnatural for me. Couldn't make it work, that's why I'm probably going to get an all mountain-ish hardboot board made from somewhere eventually. Still can't find anything with the specs I want...
  7. says titanium and titanal- dun't know which is correct
  8. I like the look of these- Phiokka Mix G.A.R.A. Better than standard Mix for carving. https://www.phk-italia.com/prodotto/mix-gara/ I personally found Driver X to fit my foot really well. A few people I know who ride higher than normal softboot angles, ride similar devices to bomber power plates for lift/cant, powerride boot stiffeners and booster straps. Hmm I've seen a few couple Korua durability issues now. Makes me think they might have some issue since it isn't a super popular board. The number of damage cases seems to be in a greater than normal proportion. Just an observation.
  9. Will do! The speed on that thing is controllable, which is handy.
  10. It is considered "cool" in Japan to ride softboots at high angles. They stiffen their boots, with various aftermarket parts, to the point of being as stiff as hardboots. Some ride bbp type devices to get toe/heel lift, also. It's common, especially, among Grey riders. First thing I thought when I saw that Kessler, was that it is for the Asian market due to the waist width.
  11. Come to think of it, I usually loctite the bolts on the plate! The not very strong one, kinda gooey. That surely would do the same job, right?
  12. I use this little fella and do the final tighten by hand. =D If not using SS bolts to fix a plate on a board, then what should be used?
  13. Okay good to know, thanks! Will keep this in mind if it becomes Allflex time. It's so weird though haha. Never happened with my vistflex, diff design though.
  14. So just apply it to the entire bolt's thread and screw it in?
  15. i forgot to say ...... it is because this particular position is only ever needed to be done while front squatting. in basically your whole life haha. so not many people naturally have the shoulder mobility to get into that position without some .. er .. help.
  16. that actually definitely sounds like shoulder mobility! pretty much every olympic lifter starts like that from what i've seen. i guess i could make a video on how my coach used to fix it, if you're interested *shrug*. it's quite an uncomfortable adjustment. kind of the same feeling when you first do behind the neck barbell shoulder press. it usually is considerably more time consuming to adjust for someone who already has muscle built in the shoulders, traps, lats, rotator cuff, due to the tightness/lack of mobility they inherently have relative to a weightlifter due to their strength training. not a bad thing, though, just a thing. but meh doesn't seem like it matters, anyway eh! if you can do other variations of fsq for reps at > bw, then who cares i say!
  17. mmm sounds like shoulder mobility hindrance, actually. it's pretty normal.
  18. This sounds super cool. Can you share some details about your stereo? I'm just using a basic JBL Pro 2 studio monitor + 2 subwoofer set up to get full range stereo sound. It's very rudimentary and cheap but quite effective. Nothing special or exotic.
  19. @RotorGoalyeah for sure, totally agree, that's also why i dislike the crossfit mentality here in general, where pushing heavier weights strangely takes precedence over technique. i was a track sprinter but was never particularly strong - never power cleaned over 120kg. but there were high school kids (right proper weightlifters) at the weightlifting club where i did my strength training, who would c&j over 150kg while weighing under 70kg. and then you'd have some guys weighing 100kg who you'd feel should have a mandatory ambulance waiting outside for them cleaning under bodyweight just because their technique was so poor. i was never in their league, but i was lucky enough to have the blessing to train alongside a few olympians on a daily basis and even got to train with dmitry klokov once (ok he actually used my bar in between my main sets as a warm up ha ). at a minimum, it was a good opportunity to observe good vs bad form. those days are long gone, now.
  20. @RotorGoal nice! yeah that makes a lot of sense. i agree, i can see how a lot of those exercises could translate well into snowboarding. recently i dug up a video of olympic gold medallist nevin galmarini doing so many things wrong during some hang cleans and push presses. just makes you (not you, just in general) realise that sometimes even top athletes don't have access to half decent strength training.
  21. I don't have any specific plan myself, but interesting to see how everyone has a different approach. Might try to incorporate some of these ideas, which are within my skill level (no longboarding) into this off season. Are olympic lifts from your hockey background? Do you do these specifically for snowboarding? Just curious about olympic lifting in general. Yeah I think this is some real talk. Frequency and consistency are key. Side Q, have you tried olympic lifting?
  22. May I ask about this process? Might need to know this for next season! Recently I started swimming again after a brief 20 odd year hiatus and I've found swimming (front crawl/freestyle) has helped my back/neck health a lot. I've had lower back issues since a horse riding incident when I was 13. And when I think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Since most (or sometimes all) of the propulsion comes from the upper body, when combined with the rotation that occurs during freestyle, you are constantly stretching and rotating your spine into alignment as you drag your entire body through the water. kind of like a friendly, partial version of the rack. After a swimming session I feel like someone has patched a new spine into my back.
