  2. SL, too, it seems. I have a 4 day trip booked in August. With my lack of skill and poor work ethic, that's enough time to reveal literally every single secret ever. Mine is the 'Super H' variant from Allflex. Seems more carving/SL oriented- pretty chill plate by the sounds of things. Oxess in the mornings. Contra in the arvos. Gonna be interesting. Maybe my world will be turned upsidedown.

  7. I had my eye on a shock doctor 875, which seems to follow the same concept as the one you linked. I'll look into the mcdavid one some more. I generally like mcdavid products but have no experience with shock doctor stuff except for a mouth guard from about 15 years ago when I did jiu jitsu for a whole 2 days.
  8. Yeah I've sussed that out before. Just a little concerned about falls on my side and the rod smooshing into my upper leg.
  9. My question is: does anyone with a dodgy knee(s) snowboard with a knee brace (not neoprene sleeve)? Although decreasing, I get pain at full collapse under load and unexpected large impacts. I have previously snowboarder in Rehband 7051 knee sleeves over the top of tights to reduce back of knee chafing/irritation. I used these because of my previous ACL injuries and to serve as a general safety blanket. I like this set up and it served me well, but I'm thinking of increasing the stability/support/impact absorption capabilities. Utterly unnecessary back story: My knees have grade 1, 2 & 3 cartilage issues throughout from when I used to sprint track. My left knee has also had 2 x ACL reco. The knee presented sore after a competitive table match, to the point of not be able to walk, at the end of 2019 and that's when the MRIs were taken to see the extent of the damage. Since then I've done a bunch of research to modify my walking/running biomechanics, increase stability and absorb impact. Developed my own rehab program and now I'm basically fully active again and the knee doesn't interfere with life/exercise, although things are slightly modified now. Gym, hiking with a pack, climbing, running road/trail/track, exercise bike, yoga, kettlebells etc. are all fine within reason. The rehab has been an overall success.

  11. Hard because every rider interacts differently with each board and environment. I think that's why some riders feel more comfortable on Oxess vs Kessler vs SG. Not necessarily because one manufacturer is better, sometimes the signature geometry/flex of a specific brand of board just interacts more favourably with the rider's biomechanics/style. It is often why one teammate is often better than the other in F1. Think 2005/2006 Renault. No one can drive with Alonso's aggressive early understeer style, but it worked for him and they built the car around it. They couldn't change the fundamental design of the car to suit 2 totally different driving styles. I think this is similar for snowboard manufacturers. They each have their own standard geometry/flex and can only change a limited number of factors before the performance of the board starts to deteriorate or a total redesign is in order. I think there is a lot less flexibility in terms of design changes in the upper echelon of the WC scene where boards are a lot more finely tuned and the purpose is more specific than recreational carving. Perhaps doing some sort of analysis with sensors and perhaps video recognition would help to further customise and fine tune a board for a rider whom the board already works exceptionally well for. If there were any money in the sport, I'm sure it would already be explored. I did something similar for our aus swim team a few years back. Using video recognition and a bunch of neutral networks to help the Olympic athletes with stroke efficiency. But that was purely for biomechanics without any interaction with a snowboard and it was quite expensive. Didn't require sensors, though. In reflection, the relevance of my post is questionable.

  13. I just assumed the wood gives an approximation to flex and is then supplemented by more precisely measurable inlays, such as carbon. Am I on the wrong track here?

  18. @David Kirk Hey mate this board sounds great! I'm a big Oxess fan myself. Can I just ask, did you discuss with Marcel the powder performance you require and if there were any changes to the stock design to accommodate this? Just for my own curiosity and future reference. Did you consider getting a P1 hardboot version made instead of this? Or was this not a consideration?
