Great discussion. Rob, that's some crazy time you have on your hands ;-) In soft/hero snow, why can't 90 not be possible? You are digging a 2 inch trench, you now have a 2 inch vertical wall to lean your board against. No boot out even if dragging because your boot is scrubbing off snow at high speed yet the snow is too soft to lift your edge off the trench. Just wondering.

I'm thinking like these (minus a bit less of the arms, I prefer quieter arm movements)

I'm just teasing. I'm not selling them although i did get an unprompted offer for them just before the last Olympics from a racer for an eBay price equivalent. Mines are from 2002 or so (customize the springs, tongue and liners) and to be honest have not tried anything else so can't comment on how good they are vs other boots. Congrats for making them. Obviously you need to sell them at high enough cost to pay for your efforts.

Hottronics have a small heating pad that install under the ball of your feet, then they glue a cover on top with flat wire under it. I don't have them but I think it does take some room esp if your already tight. I have the opposite problem, I need air conditioning in my boots even in low temp lol. Some people have Raynaud's (to various degree) and going to get cold toes /fingers regardless. Hottronics work amazing (tested on wife's feet, on =warm even on the hill, off = cold toes while sitting in the van !!). If confirmed Raynaud's, meds helps. Otherwise it's boot fitting etc as mentioned above.

I have the Nokian WRG (various generations) on my Fit and Odyssey. Works wonderfully on the Fit, got 90,000km on the first set before it became a 4 seasons tire instead of winter tires. I leave them on year round. Works just as well as X-Ice I had on them in the past in the snow/ice of Ontario. I find them not as good on the heavier front wheel drive Odyssey (have the SUV version on them), so on minivan/big SUV, bigger thread winter tires are better IMHO. But for smaller car, can't go wrong with the Nokian WRG (the newer generation is much quieter and better on gas too).

As mentioned in another thread. I tried the Coiler Skwal demo on Friday for 3 hrs and got rid of the poles on the last run (could go for more but my quads won't let me). I love the new feel and something new to learn. On order from Bruce: 170 Nirvana Balance Skwal, 10.5/12.7/12m sidecut. (the demo was 172 or 174cm), a tad softer than the demo for my weight. Width to be determined but likely 'wide' 13.5 or 14cm as I'll be running F2 bindings on them with Northwaves boots on soft. I was booting out at times, not sure if technique or the fact I was trying to do EC on soft snow and my bindings or boots were touching the snow. Incidentally no foot pain on that set up. Most amazing bit was how well it cut through choppy snow I normally would be bouncing around on my VSR.
