  1. http://www.extremecarving.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2701 further links under 'tuning' subsection, and if you read french, some good discussion in the French sub-forum also.
  2. Lowrider, if you're not afraid of skwal newb on your toy, i'd love to try it.
  3. I think this ties in nicely with the Northwave thread. I have been using the Swoard.com Northwave settings since they first mentioned it, mod my Northwave to soft liners and the really soft Raichle black tongue (which does not stiffen up with temperature change, the original tongue was very stiff for my weight below 10C) and use really soft springs to adjust for my 140lbs. You get major controlled forward flex and no lateral flex. It feels a lot more like free flowing surfing/long boarding than locked in carving.
  4. Down filled mitts reinforced in friction areas with any of the products mentioned above. Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk
  5. You might want to do a search on the Swoard forum as they are hands and limbs draggers. I use ShoeGoo, works for me and cheap. I just apply to area of stress. Even expensive coating on gloves wear out esp if you are dragging on east coast ice, esp at the seams. Just apply more ShoeGoo when wearing out (about every 2-3yrs for me).
  6. Back on topic. Found this interesting.
  7. Wampum, I noticed you're in Toronto, if you want do a 3D scan, I have a pair near you (Ajax)
  8. saw your post. Why don't you check the Swoard.com forum, esp. the Dual, looks like that's exactly what you are looking for. In addition once on hardboots, the softer spring settings on hardboots are almost as nice as soft boots in term of flex.

  9. For Canadian travelling to US resorts: how do you cover yourself against all those lawyers above? Do you buy extra insurance?
  10. You're welcome, and thank you for organizing the event again. Get well soon and next time, just get in that toboggan as you're told !
  11. http://www.extremecarving.com/swoard/choose.html scroll down and there is a table for height/weight (I'm 135lbs 5'6'' and ride the 161 soft). If you're worried, I would suggest posting on the swoard forum, lots of help and experience there. Even better would be going to the Zinal sessions (lots of snow this year) and try them out. As for binding, the suggest something not too stiff. Bomber Sidewinder seems to be the binding of choice if you have the money otherwise F2 race titanium (not step ins).
  12. This might just do it. http://www.yxlon.com/Applications/Fiber-reinforced-materials-and-plastics/Fiber-reinforced-materials Bruce, does my VSR has carbon in it if I can get the ok from the radiology dpt?
  13. I was thinking xray might show the carbon pattern MRI with metal in there, you're looking for missiles!
  14. Bruce (and others) Is it possible to xray a board and see what's inside? I tried to google the answer but could not find anything. Also if possible what dose? I might try to convince the xray dpt here to do it if feasible. It's digital now so probably won't cost much to do.
  15. Interesting. Can you put any spare cable /toothed clips on those NW? How easy to replace?
  16. From a professional tumbler...:o...I try to always end up board down toe side as I'm falling, so usually as I'm falling/sliding, flip on my back rotate the board in the air (do a back flip on the ground if needed) and smash toe side edge down and with momentum still going, you're up again. Must look like an ass but it saves energy:freak3:
  17. I have them now for 10yrs, nothing special, time to change to better boots with the end of the season, thinking $150 shipped, Mondo 26. PS: April Fool is over now. I did buy them for cheap new back then. Still love them and sorry for those who inquired. Including my own brother lol.
  18. Congrats, wish I could progress as quick as you do. Things you can work on later is simplicity and fluidity of movement, ie no flailing arms during transition, arm placement in mid turns etc...something Patrice and Jacques excel at and I think why their videos are beautiful to look at.

  20. Although the reaction is hilarious and over the top, he does have a point. We could put our boards on edge and cut through our own ruts. However in softer snow condition (think >0C spring conditions in particular), I had complaints from old ladies on chairlifts and I've witnessed small kids trip or even fall over my ruts. I'm only 135lbs, I could just imagine what some of you 200 pounders can do in the same conditions. In fact when really soft spring conditions, I do scale back how hard I push in the turn, esp. on weekends. Just feeling bad about ruining other people's enjoyment of nice conditions.
  21. Because heelside EC is notoriously more difficult to achieve. You're back to the bottom of the hill, can't see where you're taking the plunge, can't tell if there is going to be a straightliner on the other side etc... For me, at some level, that held me back (at least on steep), having to blindly commit to go head down below your board...so you look where you're going, you rotate the shoulder where you're going, but the bottom half of your body is screaming 'no way Jose!' and you end up with counter rotation and spectacular wash out...
  22. LOL, thanks, looks great from the neck down. I've been trying this lately but my butt is nowhere near the snow like yours!
  23. Thanks Jack, would you have his heelside also by any chance? Or video would be even better.
