  1. Looks awesome AA! Where's the board located?? Would you say this is stiffer than... an MK?, Proteus? My legs like a little softer flex board.....At 220lbs. I think I could probably last more than a couple of hours on this........... wish it was a 20-21 waist!
  2. Too narrow for me...I'll pass
  3. Interested............ What year, what SCR, you 1st owner??
  4. Corey you hit on my biggest desire and concern with this!!........I currently have a new Coiler 177 EC SS 23w and Love it!...but like you mentioned, for the big Coiler you really want/need a trail that's 4 groomer passes wide to let it rip as it really eats up the hill......that's were my desire for a board that's a Wild Weasel that can carve up a drainage ditch comes in! My concern is when do you decide to ride this beast? ...and am I gonna abandon the new Coiler ! I already got 4 boards for totally different situations, rock board, pow board, all mtn. work board, EC board.... My confusion is in having two boards for groomers. Corey, you have a MK and an EC ...........how do you decide when and which to ride?? Is the MK so stiff you devote a day just to it knowing your legs will be toast after a half day?? Agreed - asking for a 22cm MK seems counter to the original concept of what a MK is designed and built for! Agreed - Also not a fan of the MK graphic but respect the homage to the original Mad graphic!
  5. Corey...what's the SCR and length of your 20cm waist Moteus ?? Why did you go with the Moteus over the signature 161 MK ??
  6. Corey...... I would think Sean would have a heart attack if he read that blasphemy to put a MK and Proteus in the same sentence....much less as similar rides/boards. You think their that similar??
  7. ? Nope. Been waiting.......... just need PayPal address and amount
  8. Hey West, I'm on my 3rd Moss and currently I have a Moss PQ60, which I picked up new last year, which is same brand/model Naoto is riding (he's more likely on a PQ54) and my .02 is ....the versatility/freedom of the surfy (pow) boards is off the chart! Let me just say I'm a huge fan of my hard charging Alpine board, a new Coiler EC SS 177, it's a groomer slayer!.... but majoritively an Alpine board is a specific tool just for groomers. With my Alpine setups I can't float the deep pow and then pop out on the groomers for some impressive carves and then dive back into the knee deep pow - on the same run!!....... just ain't gonna happen!..............but that's a normal run to me on the Moss/newer designed surfy pow boards, even in plates and hardboots, which I am on on the Moss. I will say this season I have downgraded my Moss mostly to pow days as poor conditions/rock rash have just put a beating the Moss and swallowtails in general and are just not as burly as, say my Swoard Dual II....which is my every day work board. Here's a few other reasons why Naoto might (and I) like to carve on a pow board - 1- The new surf designed boards can....and Want To Carve 2- The do it all ability of the surfy pow boards 3- soft boot carving is extremely in vogue over there. 4- the challenge and skill set it takes 5- It's fun and there's more freedom being in lighter gear, which is a nice change from all the weight of an Alpine setup 6 - After a couple days of destroying the groomers on my Alpine setup I'd used to have to take a day off....but now I don't miss a beat or a day....I just switch to my Moss and rip the groomers and/or the pow.......aka: easier on the legs than an Alpine board 7- It's his job - he's a Moss team rider
  9. Great review Jim! Looking on the Donek website I see the MK - 161, but no info on stiffness. I assume you custom ordered this one from Sean and was able to set/build the flex you wanted?? What was that discussion like?? Did you go with a (your) weight specific build? Would you consider the model you had built stiff, super stiff for your weight............any boards you've ridden that are as stiff for comparison?? I'm very Interested in adding a SL like-tight radius board to my quiver! But a 18 ( or even 20 ) waist is way too narrow for my taste....... and I'm sure I'm going to get burned at the stake by the pundits for asking this, but would you see any performance (or otherwise) drawbacks of a MK build with a 22 waist....beyond the obvious sacrilege....... and beyond edge to edge response of course.....
  10. Looks like she switches to a Moss PQ60 at 3:20 or so !!
  11. John I pm ya with a Niseko contact for a Moss team rider....
  12. Having a blast on my second day out dialing in my New Coiler EC SS 177 and coming off Stagecoach lift by Olympic lift was surprised by another Alpine snowboader up close and personal (mild close call) and also at mach speed.........we both headed back down Stagecoach run but I never saw them at the Stagecoach lift ?? Looked good and was laying it out.....didn't see the board but their turns were much more Slalom like.... Was that anybody on here ??
  13. Beautiful board Karen! Good luck with the sale. I'm on my second Moss and my second year on a PQ60 - you won't be disappointed! It's a renaissance do-all board that's great for the pow or the groomers! .....and I ride mine with plates and (softer) hardboots!
  14. Hey LB I'll take 1 of the 3* cant disks Send me a Paypal address with shipping to 96146
  15. I checked ALL sources when in the hunt for mine this fall and the answer is ... No Even when Bomber was up. and running they were backordered/not available. Just have to wait for them to show up on the For Sale forum..........
  16. Kimo.....lets not take anything away from Nevin.........your referring to the semi between Kosir and the S. Korean
  17. OMG! - THIS GIVES ME HOPE!!! Out for 1st day on my new Coiler EC SS 177 at Heavenly (Yes - it just looks like pure sex and speed! Thanks Bruce!) ........... Twice on the lift and Once in the lift line people pointed or called me out as - "He's an Alpine Snowboarder - like on TV last night" and "he's an Alpine Rider like those Olympic snowboard Racers "!! ........and "Hey! your riding one of those racing snowboards!" Without a doubt, never been so proud! and totally Made My Day THANK YOU ESTER and NEVIN!!!
  18. Man! That's one lucky Squirrel! Thank God she didn't see it and crash or worse....slice it in half on international television... that would of been a gory site! The road of life is paved with flat squirrels who couldn't make a decision!
  19. What's your description of the ride difference of a 1/2 vs a 1/3 tune?? I've been riding a 1/2 tune on most of my boards but decided to go with the 1/3 consensus from the "What ya running" poll on my new Coiler EC SS 177 23w Not sure if comparing two different boards/manufactures is apples to apples, but both boards are EC design/purpose and a softer flex for my weight, and sidecut radius, angles, stance and bindings are the same between the two boards. Both have great pop out of the tail. I run a 1/2 tune on my Swoard EC 175 23w and it seems more "carvy/twitchy"....somewhat more cat like reflexes. More playful ?? I put a 1/3 on my new Coiler EC 177 23w and it seems less "carvy/twitchy" but more bullet train like!....As compared to the Swoard I feel I have to make more of a concentrated effort to get it to tip/initiate big turns but then it just throws you down and goes ballistic! The speed and rail factor are out the roof....on both toe and heel turns!! Today was my 1st day out on it and it's way faster than the Swoard....so much so I'm behind coming out of the turns and have to scrub speed before it takes off again! I wouldn't say less playful.....but Man! I gotta stay on top of it or it will throw ya to the ground..............which happened twice today!! Really, the only differences between the two I can think of is the the Coiler is 2cm longer ........and I'm running ~ Bias on the Swoard ....and Reverse ~ Bias on the Coiler......both at 55/50 Is this "bullet train" ride quality somewhat characteristic of a 1/3 tune??
  20. Big Props to my boy Nevin!! Silver medalist Sochi 2014 turns in a Gold medal performance PGS 2018!! https://fansided.com/2018/02/24/olympic-snowboarding-results-mens-parallel-giant-slalom-final-scores-medal/
  21. I too am in favor of softer boards for my weight.......just makes the day and my legs last much, much longer! Stiffer boards are also more twitchy and will pay you or make you pay depending on your attention to the given situation. If your looking for specifically for tighter turns, look for boards with a smaller SCR, regardless of length .........and yes I would even by a slalom board on the soft side.
  22. barryj

    Swoard PRO Vendu

......also does the 168 also have epoxy repair ??.........or just the 175 ??
  23. barryj

    Swoard PRO Vendu

Redia. I would love either of these!! What's the SC radius of the 168? Dose the 168 also have epoxy repair??You have these boards in ...Quebec?
  24. Fast boards are way cheaper and less demanding than fast cars ........or fast women! I'll never own a Ferrari. ....(maybe the new Alfa Gulia this spring!).....So for me more boards for more options. Sims Descender 159 - Rock board Sword Dual II - Everyday work board for riding with my students in ever changing conditions from 6500ft base to the 10,ooo ft summits Moss PQ60 - nothing but POW Sword EC 175 Gen 4 - Soft groomer grinder Coiler EC SS 177 23 waist - hard charging carving .....and I still want a Kessler or Coiler Angry or Stubby for more of a small radius whiplash ride!! More tools = more fun!!!!
