  1. Hey AB Cool photos! What Mtn.? Looks better conditions than we have at Squaw! To give you best educated advice it would help to know what board, what bindings, what angles, what cants or cant disks, what stance...etc.
  2. Anybody know if there snow conditions have improved yet??
  3. Softbooter thanks for sharing. We did you find it?? Loved it! Glad I'm living the dream......and riding a Moss!
  4. Hey E, I was over there, the last time was ....let's see, five years ago. I went over 7 winters guiding and I've always stayed at the Matterhorn Hostel http://www.matterhornhostel.com/en/index/ Spartan and cheap...but I was only needing a bed when not on the Matterhorn, not entertaining family. It's 10 minutes up the hill from the train station past the Fallen Mountaineers Memorial and 5 minutes from the lift. It's Zermatt! They rent Everything! You gotta dig alittle to get to the right shop but they did have carving rentals there in a couple of shops...........Kessler, Virus and SG boards is what I saw.......but the deposit was Huge, like new board Huge! and they charged your card first and then reversed the charge when you brought it back.......could all be different now. Jan. does sound like shoulder season. I was always there in Feb/March I see you planning a year ahead so you got plenty of time to firm up intel. Good hunting!
  5. Looking for a set of TD3 Sidewinder Step In's The degree of cant disk or color Epad doesn't matter................
  6. Corey, at "Just a little over tight" you gotta be getting some binding suck/dimpled base - yes? So don't worry about it??
  7. Hey Lowrider...I wouldn't call it a torque wrench in the true sense of the term.....these tools are preset so to not let you pass a specific load....... Bike mechanics use them all the time so as to not crush expensive carbon fiber parts. How tight is 3nm? .........without a tool to measure it I have no clue. I just can't find one for 3 nm
  8. lonbordin...I here ya west vs East coast ice........I'm from NH and we also have a home in Franconia at Cannon Mtn. I know Ice and I tell ya Squaw grooms at 5pm and it sets up like concrete!! ....................also that video isn't Squaw, it's Alpine Meadows on the Bunny hill!
  9. I've ben using a 6nm preset torque wrench (6nm Park Tool see below) to tighten down my TD3's. My tuner says the Bomber TD3's shouldn't be any tighter than 3nm.....to avoid binding suck and over torquing the inserts.. Anybody got a preset 3nm tool they recommend ??
  10. Thanks there Corey - Next question, Why would you choose A over F over AF ??
  11. So.......but what's the difference between Donek's A, F and AF ?? Curious minds want to know..........
  12. Hey Lonbordin........ thanks for that info....but have ya been to Squaw recently? Yes, the snow conditions in general are never boiler plate, but Squaws (what they call) grooming Sucks! lots of unevenness and death cookies there. Not the Mtn. for hard charging carving imo~
  13. So there's an A, F and AF Plates from Sean............didn't really see it spelled out on Donek website....so what's the difference and best application for each?? What's the application/performance difference from Plates and Apex Geckos ??
  14. Hey Jeffrey I don't know how to read Bruce's hieroglyphics..... besides length.......How about some specs...model year, waist, sidecut radius......and maybe a photo while your at it........
  15. Nope.......didn't take it that way. No worries SS!
  16. Totally agree SS....just trying to get EU to see his "reaching" is mostly bending at the waist, compared to the guys in the video are squatting....which is giving them some "extension" EU...... this video might also help you see how bending/squatting at the knees, not bending at the waist gets you closer to "extending"
  17. QQ.....Cool. Just let me know....but I'm just the opposite.....I'd take Heavenly over Kirkwood........ for Hard Charging
  18. Eu.... Check this out around 2:55. There are some moments of softboot 'Extending'. .....and some of "bending" but these guys still rip in the Friggin Cold! For training purposes try to emulate the image that the still shot for the video: on toeside reaching your rear hand to heel side of board and pull and hold it in the turn....your toe side hand should be infront of you or reaching out to the side....not down by your side. This will help getting you and the board tipped more on edge and holding /riding that edge longer through the turn Of course once you get the idea and technique... where your hands go is a style thing..... Happy Ripping!
  19. Hey Popa, 175/177 is plenty long for me and our crowded slopes!!!
  20. QQ Your trip is to Kirkwood?? Kirkwood is a far piece for me from Truckee/N. Tahoe..........usually only there in the Late Spring (or TTC, RIP ) as they close really late...usually.
  21. Hey Redia........I don' read French but I can tell you are trying to tell me I'm supposed to be on a H or XH flex Swoard for my weight. Well I've had this conversation with Patrice and Nils and all the Swoard guys many, many times. I let them talk me into a Gen 5 EC Hard flex and Hated it! Maybe it's my 61 year old legs or/and that I've always ridden shorter/softer boards.....but I love and can EC my Swoard Dual 168 )which the Swoard guys cringe every time they here this cause they thought I'd Snap it!), hated my Virus 163 UFC...(Well, I loved the Board, but my thighs hated it!) Love and can EC my Swoard EC 175 Medium Flex and had ZERO fun or ability to bend/ride the Hard Flex Gen 5 Swoard EC! Patrice and Nils know and understand that I am an anomaly and call me the 1% Their Weight to Length/Flex Charts Doesn't Work For.....................
  22. Hey Welcome Eusahn! Hmm..... it would help to know what board, boots, binding, stance width and angles your riding. A photo of your board can say alot. From what I can see (and tell your film crew to get closer next time ) your not reaching as we would call it.......your bending at the waist and touching the snow to the side of you. "Reaching" is not the best term to try to emulate.....better word to visualize what you want your body to do is "extending" which is achieved after the turn is initiated....and your turning could be limited by your stance, binding angles, etc. I'm sure many other people will chime in on this .....and as it seems to be softboot specific I'll let those Sages speak up! But again welcome to the forum~
  23. Hey Popa, I'm 6" 2'. and 225lbs. too much these days!
  24. Yes - totally agree...... when and if you can find them! But riding with Any other hardbooter sure couldn't hurt!
  25. QQ.......I'm a Hero in soft groom snow......it's the hard groom that kicks my butt! Next time your coming to Tahoe let me know. Maybe we could help each other! I'm covered at Northstar and Squaw.
