  1. Congrats there Sculler! When you hit the sweet carve spot by accident or on purpose that first few times it's an OMG! moment.... that's so addicting you'll want to replicate it again an again !! Remind us what your boot/binding setup is on the two boards....................
  2. True That DT! Jones Hovercraft is out of the same thinking of Moss Snowsticks for Surf shapes that can do it all....and supposedly Jones got his Hovercraft inspiration from wanting to emulate those pumpy old school surf turns......and you gotta expect Jones got some R&D from dissecting a few Moss snowsticks!! ...and I totally concur with DT!............On my Moss PQ60 I can be laying down the carves on the groom and then dive straight into the, over knee deep pow stashes then bust back out of the pow onto the groom straight into a knee dragging carve......all on the same run.....(even in it's current setup with TD3 SW SI's and Track 425's!) !! Jeremy Jones Said It! - It's All About The Turn! and Worth a Replay In This Thread!!
  3. Ripturns......showing some "Gilmour Bias" are you..............no pun intended! ...but that is one hell of a 13 seconds of a clip!! Thanks for posting it!!!
  4. Wow........my brain hurts trying to keep up with all this fodder! Guys let it rest and let's get back to our regular scheduled programming!!
  5. Jack..............well there's your problem! Burton!! They still running the same ol, same ol!...and the only innovative product they have put out this decade are the Burton "Step On's" They are behind again as usual!.....don't have any product in the "surf style" shape
  6. Dang! Man!...that's fast on the draw there Dr. !!!
  7. Hey ScottySurfer With my Bomber Power Plates I am going to try a 55/50 setup with the Burton Step On's............ we will see as to it's feasibility and to what end results
  8. Hey Jack I'm old enough to say I also owned and rode a Burton Elite 150 back in the day...........functional for 1988, but you are correct, were horrible in general and especially "horrible, horrible" compared to today's tech..........and that's where the popularity of "surf shapes" that the majority of major board manufactures like Jones, K2, Rossi have been putting out the last couple of years trying to catch up with Moss and their designs and sales!.....and Moss has been at it since 1971 so they might know a thing or two about what there designing and it's capabilities. Really.............don't beat on it until you tried one................it's nimbleness, track ability, carve ability, pow ability, groomer ability will blow your mind! Moss snowsticks are truly a renaissance board design that are easy to ride and a hell of a good time!
  9. Hey Rob........mean no disrespect to your Home Boys ......just saying their doing great.... considering duck foot! ...but duckfooted Ryan Knapton looks and rides better imo and I hope/expect my hardboot experience will translate to taking me to a higher level Here's video of Moss PQ60 and Burton Step On's Jump to 6:30 Seems to me heels sides seem to hook up imo with this setup......
  10. A for effort, glad to see it. But I think any advanced/expert hardboot carver here could jump on a softboot setup and carve better than that. Assuming no boot-out. I'd have to agree with Jack for once.............I really hope/expect I will be able to carve better than these guys on my softboot setup - Moss PQ60 + Burton "Step On" soft bindings + Bomber Power Plates. I applaud their effort and there boards seem to track really well with little chatter but their bodies are ineffectively trying to keep up with their boards. They are not driving the board (like a hardboot carver would know and really try to replicate even in softboots) their riding their boards, imho Still, great to see..................
  11. Hey Zone, If it works for ya sockless I'd say ride it until either your toes fall off from the Ontario cold or the eventual liner smell knocks ya out! My feet are like Thermo nuclear devices and usually never get cold!...but it's currently a deep freeze out here In northern NH where I'm at for the holidays (.....the high tomorrow is supposed to be a balmy negative -3 - ugh!) and in this cold my toes would shrivel up pop off like raisins without some type of sock!! fwiw- My Track 425's are such a perfect fit I have found that wearing even just a little thicker sock than usual causes me more performance problems from cramping than it's worth!!
  12. Hmm...............On my 6 degree cant ring my rear binding angle is 55 degrees......and I lined up the base plate "dot" to 90 degrees...towards inward cant. When riding at this new rear lift and now inward cant I didn't notice much difference. rear knee seemed vaguely easier to keep/stay in alignment to the turn .......but definitely not any negative results either. I think I will add another 20 degrees towards inward cant to see if I feel a difference..................
  13. Beckman......., I understand and emulate driving the knees into the turn, but your saying drive the feet into the turn? I do feel I'm somewhat tilting/twisting my feet laterally in the boot (0 heel lift) just ever so slightly to set up the turns Why might a 3 degree have effect my.... mindfulness??
  14. So if my rear binding angle is 50 degrees and I'm also using a 6 degree ring.... + 40 of cant now aligns as 90 on the base plate alignment indent....which pushes the "6" notches on the disk ring counter clockwise about 2 inches....and definitely cants me inward!
  15. Corey what degree Bomber cant (lift) ring are you running on your rear foot ? You doing any cant ring rotation to get that inward or outward canting were talking about??
  16. Give us the specs!! The curious want to know........and test ride it if ya make out to Tahoe!
  17. Yeah Carvin....that's what I thought!
  18. Uh........ My rear knee isn't driving towards the heelside turn....it's pointing more away from the turn, by a couple of inches if I get too relaxed. On steeper terrain, black runs my knees are always pointing toward the trajectory
  19. Curious more than anything........This doesn't happen on steeper terrain but on Blue runs my rear knee is falling behind my heel side turns and wondering how would you add cant to a TD3 SW SI? I already have a Bomber 6 degree "cant" disk for heel lift in there. Seems like they should be called Lift Disks instead of Cant disks ?? What would happen if you rotated the 6 degree disk marking from behind the heel to the outside of the binding?? You still be getting possibly 3 degree lift along with the inward canting ?? You would lose some lift and that's way more canting than I would ever want, but what say ye Sages??
  20. I feel your struggle Sculler.. I agree it would be great to ride with somebody to get some feedback and socialize, but it's a rare day I see another hardbooter out here also. I can count them on one hand for all of last season......but the need for speed keeps me going back solo to refine my skills. As for your quads giving out in two hours...........I would attribute some of that to early season leg muscles adapting to new loads and stresses.......but a big factor in that could also be your board. I rode multiple Virus boards for a number of seasons and loved them all but found them too stiff for my 61 year old quads as my Quads would only last 2-3 hours of hard charging. Switching to a Swoard Dual really increased my fun factor and daily riding time easily tripled before i was shot. Also finding Moss boards which I use for fun and work has really opened my eyes as how relaxed riding can be with their surfy shapes.....check them out at: mosssnowstick.com Evo online is carrying a few Moss models but Tahoe Sports Hub here In Truckee has their full lineup to buy or demo!
  21. Hey Eboot ....... the Okemo shop also has Bomber bindings...one of the few places in the US with standard TD3's!!!! Call 802-228-1548 and ask for Dirk, the manager I believe..... Go with the modern boots/board/bindings and you won't believe the difference! I had the Raichle 125's and unless your 125lbs they won't cut it for typical New England (icy) conditions...but they could be great for pow! ........and welcome back!
  22. Hello Coma Pedrosa, you have a curious relation to the Andorra peak I have climbed ?? I'm curious as to what's not happening for ya on your Coiler Stubby V2 172 ?? Bruce extols it's virtues as a really fun and lively board. The MK has never interested me, but since I ride a Swoard Extreme Carver that has a lot of pop, the Proteus with it's reputation for pop ( but too narrow for my taste) is intriguing....but the guys I see riding a Proteus are putting a lot of energy input/pressure...read: commitment into the turn to get the most out of it...ie: that pop. If you don't want that physical and mental commitment to get that turny, lively ride why not a Coiler Angrry? Check out Gabes video on a 170 Angrry....Gabe makes it looks like you just hop on...and Hang On!, for a very Turny and Lively ride... http://forums.bomberonline.com/topic/45494-coiler-angrry-170/ Not sure where you live, your location says Boston but I think you mention you have moved west?......I live and work at Squaw in Tahoe so when your heading out this way let me know and let's ride and I will hook ya up with some Moss boards that are turny and lively in a surfy style that will blow your mind! Oh, and I'm probably older than you.......
