  1. Man do I love maple butter, but cannot find the time to make it. If you find it handy, could you post the recipe for us? I tried a few years back but had some old syrup (sirop) heh Derf, is it true that you need fresh syrup to make the buttah? My Ex G/f's parents had a 80- 100 barrel a year sugarbush near Cabano QC and we went there every spring to help out. Man was it neat. But after a while, you get sugared out and need some real food.
  2. To me, from the location of the patches, it kinda looks like you have some binding suck and your scraper didnt catch it because the board is dished out in those areas under your bindings. Do you loosen your binding screws before you wax? All you need to do to wax those areas is to use the tip of the iron and get into those lower spots on the board.
  3. I had the snowpro stepins. I wore the boot heels out in 10 days of riding. I did get a new pair from Dan Yoja but I lost confidence in them and gave them to a lighter friend. The binding as a whole were pretty beefy, I really liked the look of them and I think the bail closure type would be very good bindings but I am a step in man now.
  4. You are becoming the official "Seach Nazi" :p
  5. 168 is too short for me, I am going to go around 180 or so. Thanks for the offer.
  6. It seems lots of racers use Burton bindings. can anyone say how often they change the bails? I weight 235 lbs and had a pair, I have never broken them but after hearing all the breakages, I bought Snowpros, broke them then got Cateks. Is Bail replacement necessary every week or monthly?
  7. 2 peeps in line already. I have you down as #3.
  8. This is a clydesdale board only a handfull of Bol members would need it.
  9. Man this guy is busy now
  10. I was drinking one night and had the same Idea. I bounced it off my wife and she was OK with it. I think the most important thing in making your own board is to make sure the P-tex is on the bottom. I hear if you mix the topsheet and the p-tex the boards dont slide all that well. My brother was given a home made board done in a vaccum bag but it only lasted a season before it delaminated. I am sure it was the qualilty control and possibly the glue they used. I do know that you need to have some way of letting the air trapped in the middle parts of the bag to migrate out to the suction pump. (some mesh or something)
  11. awesome suit on ebay very simmilar to the one found in the photo contest we are making fun about. Who will be the lucky winner of this one?
  12. I have been looking too Allee, but to no avail. I cannot even get the NBC vids. It plays the commercial before the event then it goes blank and says that "you cannot view this material in your country" Lame in my opinion.
  13. I already have plans in progress! I cant wait
  14. I dont know, but when I was riding my PR 188 with no detune, it was painfull to skid on really hard snow. The board's tip and tail grabbed like no tomorrow. I detuned it at the base lodge and it made a huge difference. Because I ride all Mountain, I detune about 5-10 cm tip and tail depending on my mood and the amount of beer I had while tuning my board.
  15. Get well soon Boris, did you get hurt while skiing? Bamboo is cheap but not perfect About the only thing that kill bamboo poles is the groomer. Lots of mornings on sweep, I have to pick them out of the runs because the operators just run them over then till them up.
  16. I am sure if if technique is sound with enough extension and compression in his turns, it will probably work fine. If not, keep it for you self to add to your quiver!
  17. Neil I missed you by a week, I was at sunshine all last week. Then went To Kicking Horse last weekend. While you are there, check out the Kicking horse bus trip, it includes your pass for something like 80 bucks. It is even cheaper for the locals. My father in law used it last friday. There were no crowds and it has 4000 feet of steep bumps and groomies, as well as a gondola to ride back up Definitely a must do! I was there on a Ski patrol training course and we even had a delegation from Regina, They were pretty impressed!
  18. After riding it one last time, I cried and took pictures. My Baby has to go, I want to pick up a shorter radius deck or a longer Coiler AM than the one I have now. The board was made in December 2001 and ridden for approx 35 times since. It was ridden only once this year and 3 times last. It was built to my 6'4" 235 lbs frame. Specs: 170 cm running length 15.7M turning radius 4mm tail taper 7.3 coiler stiffness index Options: 19.5 cm waist, Extra reinforcement around the inserts. The board has a few epoxy filled dings on the edge of the topsheet, some sticker marks and of course, binding imprints. The base is in good shape, some repairs, never been ground. Lots of camber left. The edges are set at 1 degree base and 2 degrees side. There is a compressed spot on the rear corner of the board from being hit on the ground but it is still sealed and will not affect the ride. The board is freshly sharpened, waxed and brushed. Ready to ride Asking Price is $312.56 USD shipped and insured to anywhere in Canada and Continental US Email me through this site. Extra pics are here
  19. Derf, The heel bail and block should have enough friction to keep the bail standing up. My guess is the metal is worn out and you have a floppy bail. You might try to bend the bail a bit where it sits under the block so that it has friction again. They come bent a bit out of the box. The bail will fall down if knocked or stepped on but if you pull it up with the front lip of your boot then clip in, it should work fine.
  20. We got a midweek? deal, 140 bucks for 2 days of snowboarding and one nights accomodation. It was nice, rustic and no frills. The rooms have a bed, and a small bathroom with a shower. There are common tv room between a few sections of the hotel. The hot tub was great, I even ordered a pitcher of beer from the bar and they brought it down for us Tuesday was good riding, hard snow but just a few runs were groomed. Wednesday was cool too, about 2 inches in the morning and soft snow for the day. They gave us a free late checkout at 2:00 on wednesday so we can use the room to take care of our baby. Our awesome mother in law babysat while my wife, father in law and myself went riding. We rounded up the day with another hot tub then went back to Banff, I am off to Kicking horse on friday. Have fun in Belize, I hope it is really hot for you guys.
  21. The weather was not too bad, blowing snow and zero vis at times on the upper parts but there was 3 inches of fresh so the snow was soft. Also we walked onto every lift untill 12:30 when we went home beacause of general tiredness. We are staying up at the sunshine lodge on wednesday night, snowboarding on tuesday and wednesday. I also hear that Dan Yoja, the mastermind behind upz runs the rental shop at sunshine now. Have a good week.
  22. Hey Allee, I will be at sunshine on Sunday, tuesday and wednesday. Our radios are at 16-7 if you are around. We will be at Norquay on Monday also. Cya Jason
  23. I have'nt ridden my AM 172 with 23cm waist in really deep stuff yet but I am going to Banff next week and then Kicking horse so if the conditions are right, I might be able to give you a RR FWIW I have ridden in 15cms with it and it seems to float pretty good, but I think I need a longer board (177) for deeper powder, it does sink down a bit under my 240lbs of pure snowboarding muscle. But it is still really manoeverable and easy to rip big arcs in the POWPOW.
  24. Nice video. Snowboard racing sure isnt graceful is it. It looks like they can bail at any gate, just on the edge of control. Furking awesome I say!
