  1. you need to have the special center disk with the weird hole pattern to put your plate on the cant. If you are using 4 hole, you can get by if you know your angle of the binding and just place the regular 4hole disk in where it will fit without lining up the arrows to the angle you want. It might move your binding forward or back a bit but it still works.
  2. I have 2 boards and am always tinkering with them. I think I have them set up the same, but when I switch boards, one always feels awkward. so I fix it, then its good. I put on the other board and it feels weird, so I change it again. It's an endless loop.
  3. http://www.mdem.org/espacepublic/boardies/boardies2.htm Definitely WTF!
  4. try driving your knee down into the toeside turn, it really gets your board up on edge and you turn quicker, it feels weird for the first bit because you think you will fall over, but it works.
  5. Being a volounteer patroler in Canada, I know a few paid Pro Patrollers. If you join the National Ski Patrol, get the basics down by taking their course . Along the way you will meet the Paid guys and learn how they did it. Huckin a toboggan with the board is pretty easy, especially on the steeps and bumps. Just make sure you get tons of speed for the flats. Some Areas will pay the volounteers to patrol during night skiing and midweek, sometimes cash and sometimes lift tickets which you can sell, but they frown on selling them. Dont expect to get rich by patrolling, if I am correct, the rate is pretty poor. Some guys I know are independently wealthy and dont really have jobs, but they Pro Patrol for the fun of it.
  6. I Have a trick for you guys that hate boarders and skiers running over your topsheet on the lift line. In the early season I use my older board that I dont care about and let them run me over, then I lift my board up quickly and turn around and glare at them. Being 6'4 and 240 lbs helps out in the intimidation, but its nice to hear them say sorry. I hope you guys dont really hate all Patrollers. Most of them are good ****, there are a few power trippers that ruin it for the others. I myself am a patroller and trying to mix fun and work is hard sometimes, because when you are ripping around people, they look at you and say you shouldnt do that, but if you pull it off, it feels good. When was the last time you asked a patroller if he needed help? Or do you just point an laugh when he falls? Number one reason to be a Patroller, ----First Tracks----- Have you ever seen a patroller without a smile after morning sweep?
  7. Thanks for the info guys.
  8. I was wondering if any one out there has any good things to say about the Lemans boot. I ride groomed, steeps, powder and moguls every weekend, so I was wondering if it would be an ideal boot for me. I am also a big guy (6'4" 240 lbs) so I would need some strength in my boot also. Thanks in advance.
  9. I took some lessons at Sunshine Village in Banff with a harbooter, it cost a mint but was really worth it.

  11. Well Actually, I owned a resort. It was called Raven Mountain in the Kirkland Lake area of Ontario. While I was there, I got my CSIA level 1, CASI level 1 and Freestyle coach level 1. I helped out the ski school with teaching and we had a CASI level 3 on the mountain too. I havent recertified in years, but I kinda wish I moved on with the training not to instruct but to better my riding. Nothing beats a week or weekend with an instructor and a small class.
  12. The dude cancelled his auction. Poor guy will never get rid of it. I guess it will show up at a ski patrol ski swap somewhere now, its the only way to sell rock boards.
  13. did it look something like this?
  14. Can anyone get this to work in english? http://www.snowstory.it/home.htm
  15. I just finished checking out ebay for snowboards, I found lots of old stuff there. Lots of old asym boards with soft boot bindings etc, I wonder if some neophyte parents out there are thinking they will be getting their son or daughter a good deal on a snowboard off ebay and they win one of those, the poor kids will be devastated. Unless of course, they want one to rip and look gay or they are aspiring carvers and ditch the old soft bindings. maybe they can use boots like these in them too. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3641455857&category=21249
  16. Now I cant wait for the weekend!!!!
  17. Went out riding today in the cold wind. The snow was incredible, but I had to ride my all round board, it was too fluffy and soft for a coiler pure race. Tons of snow coverage for the first day open but still soft and really easy to dig in, sometimes too much (nose folding) Have a good season
  18. For your file problems, don't use the jig on the base edge, wrap a layer of tape on your file to raise it 1 degree and run that down your board cleaning it often to remove burs that get ground into the base and be sure to only go from tip to tail, not the other way. Also, it doesnt take much pressure to touch them up, too much and you will ruin your edges. For your wax problem, are you pushing the scraper or are you draging it? If you are pushing it, it will hop and make grooves in your base. Keep your scraper flat by running it on a file along its length to keep your scraper true, if there is a void when you place your scraper on a straight edge, it needs to be reshaped.
  19. Strongbad is awesome but his form sucks, just look at the arm drop at the end of his turns!!!!!
  20. I like the guys with the homestarrunner avatars, namely "The Cheat", he is cool. If Strongbad was a snowboarder you bet he would be a carver. Laying out huge carves with all his majesty and grace and not to mention, impressing the ladies!

    Lay one out?

I had the same problem 2 years ago, untill I was surfing on the net looking for some tecnique info. I learned that to lay down a huge carve involved squatting into the turn then pushing away from the board as you turn to keep it in the snow then letting it come back to you as you complete the turn. http://www.extremecarving.com/tech/excarving.html try this link, it should help, it even has videos.
