slopestar
Thank you Donek for making the exact board in the evolution path I'm headed down. I know it's a demo but I know with a little tuning love, it will be amazing! 167 FC wide 23.5 waist Carbonium top 10.4-12.4 vsr This builds off the original 165 FC I purchased from big Canuck/evolving into my extra stiff and half as damp 165/24.8/ 9-11vsr saber. A little more length, a little less waist and a slightly bigger SCR. Wow!
lordmetroland
Thank you Donek for making the exact board in the evolution path I'm headed down...Wow! Wow, indeed. What exactly is the evolution path you're headed down? And how do you plan to outfit this board? "Inquiring minds..." and all that.
slopestar
I'm seeking a 5 board quiver 1. Freestyle twin 2. BX/ softy carver 3. Big freestyle for pow 4. Freecarve alpine (slalom) 5. Carve/alpine specific (GS) So this board fits position 4. I just sold a 165 bamboo core freecarve that was very stiff but I rode it in softies with power plates. Worked great great in cut and crud but was medicore in firm and required constant input. Rewarded by it, or served if you relaxed. So... I had Sean make me a saber that was similar but softboot specific. The saber with power plates is my go to unless I am playing (twin) or going Hardboots. So that leads me to my alpine specific boards. I have bought and ridden several small-large sized alpine boards over the last 2 seasons and realized what I liked and didn't like about each board. To summarize, smaller sidecuts I liked. Vsr I liked. Stiffer with some damp and good amounts of pop I liked. I did not like big sidecut and longer length. I did not like single radius sidecut (exception on my twin). I did not like overly damp and soft. My go to alpine rides will be this 167 FC and a 175 rev with a 4mm upm boiler plate and td-3 step ins on td-2 lowers. The FC I'll start with sidewinder step ins and evolve from there. I would love to collaborate with a manufacturer to build a softboot binding similar to the Catek fr-2 but with less pieces. So think gecko plate /meets power plates /meets Catek FR. Through my affiliation with EEKOE.COM (Shameless plug) I'd like to do it with Flow and Dale Rehberg. I have ridden mainly softboots and Flow since 95'. Let's hope for a great winter! lordmetroland
Dale Rehberg. Sweet, 1991. I summoned the spirit of Tarquin Robbins just today. Some kind of weird synchronicity happening...

Mr.E
I got an evil twin version last year (just a touch longer with a longer sidecut). Makes a killer all arounder. You'll be happy.
bigwavedave
Hi E, I agree, it's a great all around board (and maybe somewhat under rated or overlooked in the forum here). I've been thinking about getting this board made for a few years, and your photo from last year inspired me to go with the solid black top sheet. A few years ago, I picked up an old blue 180 Incline (2001 custom build for Ken Delrossi) , longer and narrower (23.5 waist) than a stock glass Incline. I was surprised at how great it carved in hard boots on perfect corduroy. But, where it really out-performed my narrower metal carvers was in soft snow, where I was digging in and breaking away. The Incline was superior in everything from super soft packed powder after fresh snowfalls to wet spring granular and resort powder. I now think I prefer the feel of a wood core glass board in soft snow and crud, but wouldn't give up the metal board for the icy hard stuff.
