  1. I remember it took me years to get out of that vintage "spiderman" form and straighten up with the hips squared across the red line.
  2. 3-5 times a year counts for me; how about only every 3-5 years? I forgot to mention my 198 Undertaker that only gets out every third year or so and is still a very viable part of the quiver.
  3. "windsurfin' on a Windsurfer with a wooden boom in 1976" Yeah but who remembers trying to uphaul the original teak mast base? After a few trys you learned to put a foot on it so you wouldn't pull it out! and yeah, the Sunset (mine said Sunset Race on it) was an awesome board but later. More like during the renaissance.
  4. :o But I've "babied" both Volants (162 and 173) and they still get out 3-5 times/year.( Less than 50 days each) Decent rides IMHO But not as hot as my favorite dust collector: Red TeamFP (184ish). This was too stiff for me for five seasons, now that it's perfect I restrict my exuberance to less than 10 days a year on this rocket, it has probably 50-60 days on it. I prefer it to my goto 186 PR which is a regular ride.
  5. But you have to learn to fly the kite before you try HBs. The acceleration was outrageous, the flying behind your back (rather than fakie) was impossible for me. I'm kiting on skiis now 'cause it's hard to get into the SB bindings with a kite overhead. The newer kites are much easier to control in the 12 o'clock position. (I'm flying an ozone frenzy 4-line) I bought my Winterstick ST to kite with (currently in the classifieds) but really skiis are the way to go at first. Be careful; have a good leash/depower setup (don't use an older inflatable) and don't go when you could get lofted.
  6. sure it's not the Head-Flu? Guess you flunked out of the LE acadamy after your aptitude test. Now I need to rest.
  7. Kathy, heal well, welcome to the club. You know lots of PT. Dave, I think Kathy will disagree with your hopes this "was just a sprain". This break will heal fast and sound; long before any muscle or lig/tendon trauma. Kathy, this means Dave has to bring you beer and relinquish the remote!
  8. around Oo-10o F here in the Sierra. I thought that happened everywhere? Even without wax it was still unrideable the last time I tried the cold (-12oF). Windchill is a non descriptive number after 40 or 50 below. I was straightlining the 186 PR down piste I normally can't even carve on a 163! :confused:You're the only other one felt this Chris? Strange.
  9. at that inclination but you might want to try and get him to break his trailing elbow; get that following wrist across the body... PS have you ridden ever that UT head to head with the real deal (198)? PSS I'm not talkin trees
  10. Just like the dead husk of an old battleship floundering on the shoal. I don't even know if you have too many "h's" or too many "n's". Still works for me.
  11. supposedly good for 200 pounders on plates on the steep
  12. Hardly ever bent-Will anyone give me $300? I don't do round tails but I want Dave's Ian price! '04 or '05 : silver w/ purple mountains. Or can anyone confirm without commitment that this is about the right price? I got it to kite but actually prefer skiis for that. This is the "BIG" one; 166cm. Force me to figure out pics if you must... Thanks Trench
  13. 'Cause I thought mine was "original" (quotes for Bryan) with the white-walled madd boy graphics speckled P8000 base. Really John? Only 20 made?
  14. Got me bringing my back hand across my knees/board (like Jack said). I don't need to do it all the time but it means an instant recovery when I'm not hooking up right.
  15. That guy with the Bro tilt glasses on his white tuke doesn't have hardboots, does he?
  16. Darn those Rushin' Rockets and Bee-linin' Brainiacs. This happens to me on a heelside about once a year. The one last year actually knocked me out a bit I believe. I'd say look uphill every backside before initiation but even so, like you said, you never saw him coming. Was he wearing an unbuttoned Starter jacket?
  17. Hey those would be sweeeet on that polished Volant with the green plastic sports bottle on it! (Hey Divebomer, check these!)
