  1. You could have cashed in! My Nigerian banker was just about to wire you the cash.
  2. Intermediate clinic please!!! Probably only Saturday, maybe Sunday for me.
  3. Are you going with the car in some fashion? If so, Uhaul rents trailers for cars. If not, I used these guys about 10 years ago. My memory isn't great, but it took a long time and was a couple hundred bucks. http://www.lhf.com/ Good luck!
  4. What are these weird planky-things I'm on? This is more like it! She plunked her feet down like that too! Arms swinging and drool flying! That's my little girl. :) Any other Bomber-babies?
  5. I used GIMP. I have some students using Illustrator which would do the trick nicely.
  6. http://thesock.com/ runners used to rave about these back when I sold shoes. I'd check with a good physio before giving it a go.
  7. This is a bit of an old thread, but I got an Arbor Element in a trade for some mechanic services. I bought a headlight restoring kit (3M) and it worked great. I didn't spend a ton of time (maybe 30 min total) but I'm sure a few hours polishing would really do the trick. It took out a ton of what looked like fairly deep scratches. I may re-do the clear coat over the summer if time permits.
  8. No difference between the tools for ski and snowboard. Go slow and easy! Chatter is what you want to avoid. Some 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper will help smooth the edges when you are done. http://www.skituning101.com/2010/03/ski-tuning-101-presents.html The swix planer they recommend is a good bet. Some metal models can go for upwards of $150. Look for models with replaceable blades so you can ensure it's "thick" enough for your sidewall.
  9. In my neuroscience class, the prof said it was twisting movements that were the most damaging. Vibration is an interesting question though.
  10. There's lots of new information emerging about the role of Tau proteins in concussion, intellectual disability, and diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's (tauopathies). It's worth a search and a quick read. Basically they are proteins that normally serve to prop up the structure of neurons. When they are knocked lose, they can clump together and kind of rattle around breaking off brain tissue. It's scarier thinking about this on a micro-level vs just the whole brain bumping around (bruised brain).
  11. I had one of these, briefly, as my first board. The biggest problem was the massive sidecut. I had a RS and I think it was 15 or 16 M. It was stiff and got going way too fast. That said, I sucked anyway. I can't imagine going back for the sidecut alone. I'd look for a Donek or Coiler of the same vintage, or same price range with a more moderate 10-13M type of thing.
  12. 1) You want to try a .75 or 1.0 base bevel. That will reduce some grabbiness particularly on the flats. I would recommend a shop for this unless you want to invest in something like a Beast or SVST I find the SVST worth the price! The black plastic jobbies aren't good. 2) You really need a proper file from a ski shop. These will cost about $20 and are diamond cut. The HD files will chew the crap out of your edges. The good ones will make a nice even sound and will cut really nice shavings. Can't describe nice any better! The reason you think you need coarse is because of lack of sharpness. Go really easy with the real file. Use a sharpie after every few light passes so you can see what's being taken off. 1 base is common with ski racers. There is no 0 angle... that's a base grind. 2 side would be pretty common although I haven't been carving that long. I stuck with 1 side for a year and will be trying 2 soon. I ride out west so it's usually pretty soft snow. I'd check what racers and other HBs use in your area. A good ski tuning shop is really a great place to start looking for advice and gear.
  13. I have a loose rivet on one of the ankle buckles. I keep meaning to find some T-nuts but haven't gotten to it. I'm just hoping when it pops that it's attached to the other half of the buckle!
  14. I started with the 4wd and it was fine... bought a Coiler AMT and it's just in a completely different league. You are also getting something brand new built for your conditions, weight, etc... I could argue you'd save money by going custom with Bruce! To tell the diff, ask, or at least for a big pic of the sidewall. you'll see the 2 layers of metal.
  15. They are kind of moldable... don't really stay that way. They aren't superb liners to be honest!! Maybe you should try your ski boot liners? I have the non-wrap (traditional tongue) Intuitions and they are just fine. Good luck finding something :) Cute kid btw! We're expecting our first in a few months, can't wait.
  16. Are they the grey ones you're looking for? They are kind of heat mold at the bottom. I have 26's from Deeluxe Suzukas. I'd have to dig them out of a bin for a pic if you're interested. Same liners as in this pic: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?15972-05-06-Deeluxe-Suzuka-Mondo-25-Almost-New Same as these, but mine are in much better condition. I used them about 6 days before switching to Intuitions. They were new when purchased: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?25438-Suzuka-w-Intec-amp-Thermoflex-25
  17. The officer on the news didn't call them guns... they are "intervention options"
  18. Dave, how much lead time do you need?
  19. J'ai vu nos amis du Québec à cheval aujourd'hui. Grande circonscription gars! J'espère que le français a un sens. The Jasey Jay board and plate look sweet. On a related note, the snow at Nakiska is dying. If you're going up over the weekend, go early, it got quite crispy around 2.
  20. Would any of the Calgary crew be up for an intermediate-only technique day when Nakiska gets some more snow (few weekends from next maybe)? What I'm thinking is to print out some of the drills on Bomber, work more on Corey's material, and maybe bring up the video camera and a laptop to do some video work. We can take it slow on the easier runs and really focus on technique!
  21. http://www.polleverywhere.com/ It's pretty simple. Results updated every 3 seconds or so.
  22. I was there today, it was about 0 +- a few degrees. The hill was empty excepting the seniors groups, a few racers, and 55 kids from my school that won't be there tomorrow! The snow conditions were not too bad. Snow is reasonably soft but got crunchy after the sun went down behind the trees. Watch for the top of the slopes right after flat sections. It was a bit windy today and the snow was getting blown off those sections and quite icy down under. I didn't head up top (Gold chair) due to being with the kids, but it's usually pretty good. Overall, I'd say it was a good day (especially when getting paid to be there!) Eat at the restaurant upstairs. Some of the kids felt sick after lunch (gravy, chicken fingers maybe).
  23. Up skiing with about 55 middle-schoolers from my school today. 2 separate kids commented at different times that my board was "gay" and not in either the happiness way or the awesomeness way that would describe each and every one of my gay friends. I find it amazing that kids these days find that to be an appropriate kind of comment to make to a teacher... or a carver (un-skilled as I may be).
  24. The TD3's adjust via 0, 3, and 6 degree cant disks that mount between the board and binding top plate. There is a "how to mount" video that would give a good visual for how all that works. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/TE1JBBw-8zo?list=PLD500685F6C8181BC" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  25. If you're beyond careful, you can use a short metal scraper and bend it with your thumbs in the middle and fingers on the sides. If you dig an edge, that'll obviously be bad. You also want to be very very gentle as the metal can scrape the grind pattern right off the bottom. It's not a great solution, but it does help. I scrape all my stuff with metal... carefully.
